Hey, so the other day my phone stopped getting reception of any kind. No phone calls or data connection, I just have the No Service symbol in the task bar. I have taken my phone all around the city, and it still says no service. It has been like this for a couple days now, so I doubt that T-Mobile is having a massive outage in my area (Pittsburgh). Does anyone know anything I could do? I've tried many soft resets, a couple hard resets, flashing different ROMs, and flashing different radios. I also checked my payment info and I'm not late for a payment or anything. So any help?
Also, the error reads "Dialed: The answering modem has disconnected. To check your connection settings and change them if needed, tap Settings." I looked around in settings and I wouldn't know what to change.
I had the same problem with ATT, it turns out some how I had no data settings on my account, so the network couldnt talk to my device, called tech support, they asked for my IMEI number, added me back, problem disappeared. every 3 months the networks send a request for phones to answer back at times the main frame then checks the IMEI numbers against whats on your account, if they dont match the data part can be dropped which stops the phones from communicating with the network. In my case my phone worked fine, but any txt msgs sent or pix msgs would always come back with that error, or after every hangup of a call.
Ok thanks. I'll try calling them later today
Hey all, I'm more of a search and learn user than a poster, but I have yet to find an answer by searching alone, so here goes.
My EVO tends to dip in and out of signal on a regular basis, but more often then not when I'm driving. For example, the phone will go from having 5 bars, to none, then back to 5 in a matter of seconds (id say about a minute). It did this 4 times on the way home from work today. I just came from T-Mobile, and I cant recall this ever happening on their GSM network. Is this a phone issue, or a typical behavior of Sprint and or CDMA networks?
Thanks!

mine does this also...and i came from tmobile too, i dont think its relaly losing service... b/c if u lose service there will be an X next to the bars...i think it might just be switching towers and not doing it smoothly... b/c whenever it dips i try to make calls to make sure i still got service and what do you know it always works :/
also sometimes i notice it dips to 1 bar then back up in a matter of seconds... any idea anyone?
Yeah I agree that I still have voice service, however my data does completely stop. Its a pain cause all my background downloads get interrupted and often broken.

I noticed it on occasion on AT&T but that could be because of their ****ty 3G network here.
I have noticed it on Sprint too. I never completely drop service, but I do frequently drop from 5-6 bars of EvDo down to 1-2 bars of 1xRTT then it jumps right back up. It seems to only happen when I'm driving fast

hmm not sure... i also do notice i get error codes when sending txt's sometimes... like error 107 or 97 and i think 32 before... but it hasnt occured recently... its mainly when i send txts back to back super fast... or if im sending one when someone is sending me one...
so i dunno if the port from tmobile is just bad? or what...
forgot to mention 2 of my friends evo's do the same thing... they live near me... and well it does it but i dont think as often as mine... not sure... but it seems liek all evos do it... maybe just bad service area?
I definitely don't get error codes, but the service going in and
out is really annoying. So annoying, that i may drop Sprint and return my evo.
hmm then i dunno i would call and ask, i think sprint jsut has spotty service for you, have u check the tws?
(time without service percentages)?
and did u do the cmda auto prl? after i do that it helps ALOT
How do you check the TWS? Also, by auto PRL, you are referring to the "Update PRL" feature in Software Update right?

go to settings and battery and batterystatus and check cell standby, then the prl thing is to set it so its CMDA and not GSM setting...
its not the update PRL there is a thread about it
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=717785
"If your phone is afflicted with TWS > 0, try this procedure.
1) In dialer, dial *#*#4636#*#* to enter "Testing" app.
2) Under Phone Information, set Set preferred network type to CDMA only.
3) Exit Testing by pressing "back" key.
4) Enter Testing again.
5) Set network to CDMA auto (PRL).
6) Exit Testing again.
This fixed my TWS, and the settings stick on reboot."
btw u MIGHT have to do this everytime after reboot
Done.. I appreciate the advice. We'll see if it works. I wonder if you can use the "Network" app to do this... Also, I applied the verizon PRL hack and it worked.. However, I'm just afraid to use it before I test if it charges roaming.
Also, TWS is 3%
evo has NO roaming charges on the plans... whatsoever...
hmm your tws is low... i dont see why your signal just drops like that... mine isnt as much as you if your saying yours does it allt he time... but mine does it and it hasnt bothered me...
werd... my phone just now did the no connection to 3g... anyone else figuire out what this was?
I replaced my galaxy s 2 because it was acting up and now i have rooted one and also put stock rom bloat free and i recently noticed that sometimes my phone have hard time connecting to data. i can see the uplink sign go green but the downlink arrow doesnt blink and phone keeps me waiting waiting and waiting and i have to restart the phone or leave it for good 5 or 10 minutes to be able to start working. can anyone please tell me if thats a hardware issue or the software? do i need to have my phone replaced?, i dont know if tmobile store would exchange phone now because i purchased phone on 12th and its been 12 days if the reffer me to customer service then they will send me a refurbished phone which i do not want because i paid full price for phone.
any help will be appreciated.
Data connection problem
If you haven't already tried, go to Settings/Wireless and network/Mobile networks/Access Point Names and if there is an option to reset, select it. I had a similar problem with data connections - up and down lights blinked but no connection - and T-mobile support helped me out. Also, make sure Use packet data and Data roaming are checked.

I've had the problem too, both on 4G and WiFi. There is a warning on the data roaming option about incurring extra charges. Is this true? I know that my plan says free domestic roaming, but I'm not sure that applies to data?
The T-mobile rep allowed that this was confusing. They stated that there are no additional charges within the US. Roaming is required because TM uses other providers' (i.e. Verizon) towers in some locations.
I have this same problem, Im wondering if the update coming out next month for wi-fi calling will address this, or what about using the new sim card??? Its pretty annoying but i didnt want to really exchange my phone b/c this is the only problem im having as well as the vertical lines which i have pretty much learned to live with.

i am using the new sim card already... i dont know if the problem is with new sim card or the phone itself but it gets annoying sometimes when i need internet and it doesnt wanna work.
Has anyone had any luck fixing this?
I noticed this problem sometime after rooting and flashing roms. Now I'm on the stock rom released in the dev channel. I've talked with customer servie for an hour and none of their solutions fixed anything for me.
I don't have a good backup - is there anything I can do?
I haven't been bitten by this again. It has been a couple days and I've since replaced my phone (today). But I haven't been on 4G much. Wifi has been working fine for the last couple days.
First of all I have done everything to find an answer to my issues, I've looked in a lot of places and searched a lot of different ways.
The last thing iI wanted to do is post here but don't even know how to ASK about my issue.
I have an AT&T i747 running task650 4.2.2 with underwear kernel.
I am using a ST LTE sim.
Even before I got the new LTE sim I had this issue.
My problem is my phone is getting bad network issues when leaving wifi on, but like when I leave my house, where I connectto wifi, it takes forever to get cconnected to a network if I do get connected at all.
Recently my phone is now displaying NO NETWORK even, like when I try to make a call in my house.
And when I leave my house I won't get a network sometimes unless I turn on and then off airplane mode.
I'm sure someone else has had this problem, maybe I'm just searching with wrong verbiage idk..
I don't even know what to call this problem let alone now how to fix.
If someone has an answer that would be cool.
Just wanted to see if anyone else has been experiencing this or maybe knows a way to fix this. I have 2 issues with the phone calling on this phone. I had the 925T since launch and never had an issue with it. ever since i sent it in for repair, I've had a strange issue. Fist one is dialing out. When attemting to make a call, it takes anywhere from 3 seconds to 40 seconds before the call actually gets connected. this is highly annoying as i dial a number and it feels like forever before the call actually connects. my other issue is after the phon ehas been one for a few hours, I dont get any incoming calls. the phone will not show me any incoming calls at all so I don't even know when someone calls me. Ive tried everything i can. tried changing sim cards, updated the bootloader and modem, tried different roms, kernels, stock odin, everything. and its the same story no matter what I do. Anyone Have an idea of what it could be? It only works well after a fresh reboot. calls works without issues. hours later, problem comes back
I've had the same exact problem but I attributed it to using an AT&T Sim card on an unlocked T Mobile phone.
I've now rooted and installed Xtrostolite Rom with latest modem and bootloader. I've yet to have any issues. Good luck.
Anyone else have this issue?
I have this issue. It seems if i leave wifi off i do not ever have this issue. I live in a crappy coverage area so i have to have wifi on at home. I just reboot when i leave. I hate this phone....

You think the problem is WiFi related?
Yes. If i leave wifi off i never have the issue.
Still is happening. whether I have wifi on or off it always happens. It seem,s to be an issue related to VoLTE. When I turn LTE off, the issue dissapears. Updated baseband and bootloader to latest version and issue is still there. Have a custom rom and the issue is still there. go back to the tmobile rom and the issue is still there. thinkiing of going back to a tmobile firmware and turning off VoLTE in the firware then reflashing back to custom rom and seeing if that helps. if not, im selling the phone and getting the F version of the regular S6 and calling it a day. im done with carrier branded phones.
Interesting enough I haven't had this issue in the last 3 to 4 days. I wonder if it is AT&T related.
I have this issue. All the time. Unlocked from tmo, using straight talk at&t. This phone is the worst.
Anyone not on AT&T network having this issue?
I wonder if flashing the AT&T modem on TMO model will help.

Maybe you should get a phone from att.
If att service is better than tmobile then maybe there phone is better than tmobile's phone.
Pp.

I've been able to switch between carriers on any phone that has the supported bands since the galaxy s2. The issue is with this phone. My mistake in buying it.
Please help!
same thing here its unbearable, using latest unibase and xtrestolite
I have tried a few roms and a few kernels. I have tried differ apns but att Sim in this phone doesn't work like it should. I was going to get a TMOBILE note 5 to use on att but now I know it's not worth the risk.
@stu5797, yea man, I wish I had a solution. I'm happy it's not just me, but pretty bummed that there seems to be no answer other than it just doesn't work properly.
I've noticed the issue only happens during peak hours. Can anyone confirm?
I was having similar problems after the 5.1.1 update so after a few troubleshooting sessions with TMO, they sent me a new phone. 2 weeks now and no more problems. First phone that I have not rooted and flashed..... I was also told by a store rep that a lot of people were having issues since TMO is upgrading towers for 12 band.

Are you still having this issue? I have the same issue and the same phone but mine is unlocked and working on cricket network. So yeah same problem taking forever to connect a call and no receiving calls mos of the time. No ring no notification of missing call. I been doing some research and find a temporary fix. Try going to settings -mobile networks and switch from lte/wcdma/gsm to wcdma/gsm or gsm only. But before do a test. Turn off data and try to make a call see how fast it connects then have someone to call your phone. If it works then this trick will work for you. Of course you gotta sacrifices lte speed . Basically having 4g only but at least will fix your calls. These problems seem to ve related to volte i been trying to disable it but there is no such option under phone app setting. I just dont have it. (I cann show some screen shots) so if someone knows a secret code or app whatever to turn it off i will appreciate it. My phone is a t mobile galaxy s6 edge.

Didn't work for me. I turn off data and I still have to wait until the call goes through
