Is this the reason why I have long wake locks for "Media Server" when I play Music while my phone is supposedly asleep (screen turned off)?

This is caused by rebooting while silent mode or vibrate mode is enabled.
Disable it, reboot, then go back into your silent or vibrate mode.

Thanks for that. is this a bug? Any ways to get rid of this bug?
there is no way that is true. my phone was not on vibrate all weekend, yet my battery drain was still there and audioout_2 is still the main cause of the wake.

4.1.2 ROMs seem to have addressed the issue from what I've seen

Was it on silent at all?
Or did you boot it in silent or vibrate, then re-enable sound?
I think I'm very confident that the issue is caused by the above, though samsung could easily have broken something elsewhere.
What rom are you running?

Did you use an app like zedge or similar to set notification sounds or ring tone?

Is there any way I can have an alarm that wakes me up, but not the rest of the household up?
Thanks
Sent from my R800i using XDA
Set the volume of the alarm lower ? Settings>Sound>Volume
Turn your alarm volume down?
Yeah, but then I fear it wouldn't wake ME up lol
Sent from my R800i using XDA
Set to vibrate only and put it under your pillow
brought to you by the XDA app on my badass Android toy
Do you think that would work? Might try it actually, what about using headphones? Lol
Sent from my R800i using XDA
Hearing something vibrate under your pillow will surely freak the hell out of you, so you should be ok.
Wouldn't recommend headphones, fell asleep once with them in, hurt like hell taking them out in the morning. Was like they fused into my ear!
brought to you by the XDA app on my badass Android toy
I've accidentally left my phone on all the way across the room. Got a text, it vibrated, and it startled me awake. I guess that's probably because I'm a light sleeper though
Thanks

the solution is quite easy:
get another alarm app (e.g. alram clock extreme -> free on getjar)
And use the increasing volume function.
Meaning: your devices alarm will start at low volume and will get louder the longer u ignore it.
So u can quickly disable it if u are awake already (and keeping your household asleep) and still be sure that it will wake u when it comes to full volume late (oh here all are awkae again).
But imho the best solution and also sparing your nerves a bit since you dont get harrassed out of sleep at full volume

Try a factory reset. If that doesn't fix your issue, then take it to Sprint and return it for being defective.

Not while stock, you would need to root and either flash a custom rom that has it baked in or flash the modded messaging app that's floating around the dev. Section.

if is it Facebook notifications or mail notifications just go to each app setting and turn the tone to silent or just open the notification bar and press twice on the volume button to turn it silent with no vibration and your alarm will still working

You need to do it - turns on during the day and turns it down at night everyday.
I use NFC to turn off all lights, vibration and everything. I sleep like a baby hehe. I wake up, NFC again and I'm back in business!

This is automatic; isn't that the beauty of most apps and functions? Every day between the hours of xx & xx Blocking Mode will perform an automatic funtion.
I'm sure you do things that others consider 'useless'. That was an insulting statement.
Do you know any solutions to this annoying problem? Its impossible to watch full screen flash videos with stock browser. Screen turns off automatically. i tried turning on/off smart stay, no difference whatsoever. I even installed 3 different versions of flash player, cleaned the browser cache ,nothing. I think that it might be directly related to the actual audio output. As in, I listened to music for 2 hours, I get a 2 hour wakelock. I noticed that I didn't have anywhere near 2 hours of screen-off wakelocks. I did however watch Netflix for around 2 hours.

There is another thread on this issue. Maybe you can search for it. Basically this wake lock comes about if you set volume to 0 or silent mode.
