Facetime for Android? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note II

Is there any such app that will allow me to be able to do facetime with family that have Iphones?

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.oovoo
supposedly works extremely well

Google hangout works really good.

Google+ Hangouts is awesome.

Similar to G+ hangouts...
Google Talk has Video Chat. It's built in to every Android phone.

I understand his question with an app that interfaces with facetime. All other users have to download Tango or other apps to use across OS's to get it to work. My wife has an Ipad that my 3 year old uses facetime to talk with his Aunt and its pretty seamless in the video and voice with out signal issues that we get using Tango on our slow satelite internet in the sticks. It would be nice if an app existed that interfaced with facetime but I understand apples stance if they wont allow this. Bastards I tell ya!

it was my understanding oovoo DOES work over facetime...but have not used it. the description claims it is the only one that does

Just tried ooVoo and I couldn't get it to work. Had a relative install it on their ipad and we tested it against facetime on our ipad and it sucked pretty bad in comparison to facetime.

good to know. personally I don't own an "I" anything so had no way to test.
Some customers did the oovoo thing in store on their new s3's and it was pretty sweet. Sorry it did not work out.

I thought Apple kept facetime proprietary on purpose. didn't a Google engineer talk smack about it compared to the open api that talk uses?

true, yes they do/did. interoperability is not a goal or hallmark of iApple.
and it might have made sense when they were the only real game in town.
(i'm not insinuating that they ever were, just public perception)
now it just isolates the platform and it's users.
if they wish to stay relevant in the upcoming 5 years, they need to change this, seeing as Android is the dominant OS in the market, and only continues to increase. soon, no one will "pay for the privilege" of using a piece of software that is isolated from the majority of smartphone users. (you can actually apply this theory to any aspect of an iDevice)
as far as smack talking, i would not be surprised. and would love to read anything that is talking trash about iCompany.

Storm chaser weather radar app

I've seen any number of storm chasers on TV and many seem to be using some pretty cool weather apps with highly detailed radar -- what apps are they using?
Do any provide alerts for approaching weather and if so, can you specify a location other than where you are at the moment?
Brian
I have used this app. On my old iPhone It is called radarscope
I have not been able to find it for android. I keep holding out hope though.
I live in Oklahoma so it would really come in handy.

I would also love a high quality radar app for android....
Sent from my GT-P7510 using Tapatalk
I spoke too soon, I hadn't checked in a while. Radarscope is available in the market now, however it is $9.99. After using this app I totally think its worth it. It will show you wind velocities at different levels of the storm and its by far the best radar app.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
wow radarscope is pretty insane, may pick that up one day.
personally i'm using BeWeather. it has some pretty amazing maps, though no where near the level of radarscope. https://market.android.com/details?id=com.bellshare.beweather
I live in OKC and having a good cell phone radar is a must. It can and will save lives in the future

I liked the first one better lol. I like the advertisements they're shockingly accurate as to what apple launch day is.
Apple gave their competition a golden opportunity. If I had an iPhone 4 I would not walk out of a store using an upgrade on a phone that looks identical and basically is identical (OK don't flame but an upgraded camera and CPU/gpu isn't worth an upgrade)
Evo 4g to epic touch, now That is an upgrade ;-)
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk
The first round of commercials were better, it actually showed some of features of the phone. Still I like the fact that they are firing back at apple...the right and respectable way...not with frivolous lawsuits but through competition.

My girlfriend just upgraded to the 4s from the 4 despite my best efforts. I had her convinced to at least try the at&t gs2 and see if she would like it. But then the salesman said, "I have the gs2 and if you already have an iPhone you'll want to stay with iPhone.."
And she did. Stupid salesman. I was di close to converting someone and I was helpless to intervene because I was at work. Blast.

One of the metrics we are scored on is return rate. I've yet to return an iPhone for anything but a more expensive iPhone. I have definitely returned android devices (including the epic touch) for iPhones. I will give someone a fair discussion on whether they are really getting the right phone without resorting to android snobbery, but I ultimately have to look out for me and not get things returned.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
Unless I get an Apple diehard with nothing but Apple products I can usually flop them to Android. More specifically the Epic Touch. Larger screen, expandable memory and showing them mine running all the rooted goodies. Plus, a lot of people don't like that you have to use iTunes.

The app is so freaking slow, you are probably better off with out it opening.
Maybe after the IPO Facebook will have enough money to afford to have someone fix it.
The annoying part is that the iOS app works flawlessly. No love for Android :-(

Any progress on Wallet?

It has been known that the LGOG should have wallet and doesn't. I was wondering if anybody found/developed a workaround to this, as I really love Wallet and would love to be able to use it.
Sent from my LG-LS970 using xda app-developers app
No. And it won't be supported until Google decides to support it. Unless there is some crazy workaround that'll even get around Wallets crazy security features.

Wallet is pretty much dead, not just for this device but for most devices going forward. Corporate greed from the carriers all wanting a piece of the mobile payments pie pretty much killed any momentum Google had.
Quite frankly I've always thought Wallet was overrated and once you get over "wow" factor.

Why would it be embarrassing? It's worked everywhere, except for one particular McDonald's. Not sure why... The last time i tried it there, this annoying teenaged worker said "Some guy with an Sgs 3 just tried it a little while ago."

I love wallet. I use it on a daily basis. Pay for my gas with it and use it at the vending machine at work and Walmart. I don't see it as overrated. The clothing store next door to my job at work just started supporting it and the coolest part is they support 10% off all purchases when using wallet. I get 25% off bestbuy purchases over $50 at the store by my house

I work at JCPenney's and with former apple bigwig now running the show here, its amazing how many problems I encounter daily with CR-apple devices...
I just want to pull Ron Johnson aside and tell him to invest in XDA Devs to manage competent android devices... been waiting months for any new app, and the ones we do have have are in serious need of updating(months overdue)... to think how fast devs get things accomplished for practically nothing on XDA, while apple devs under contract with JCP take months to get anything done is a travesty

First, be sure to have both apps opened. Then, on one of the apps touch on the typing area, to bring up the keyboard. Write at least one letter, and it should be able to float around. I tried to make it float without writing a single letter and it won't. Maybe it's just me, but it worked as described.

I wouldn't be surprised if a jailbroken iPhone could do that. And it'd be worth more in 2 years - and it'd still be getting software updates too, which I'm almost positive our Note 2s won't be getting in more than a year. >>
However, one thing the Note 2 can do that the iPhone will never be able to do is use a stylus like the s-pen. Sure, you can use a stylus, but it's like drawing with preschool crayons.
Just thought I'd be the voice of reason here lol

I don't have a note 2. I have an iPod touch and an Atrix 4G.
Apps on the iPhone can't resize. There is no framework for it. Even if it were possible the screen is too small.
Also I haven't seen any alternative keyboards.
The iPhone has a solid, simple, smart experience, however it does not have the potential of Android. An iPhone looks nicer, works seamlessly but isn't as capable as an Android phone.
