Data from S3 to Note 2? - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can I nandroid backup my S3 and restore ONLY Data on the Note 2 ?

Absolutely not.
Nandroid backups can only be used on the same phone that I was made with.
You can use titanium Backup to back up data on your S3 and then restore it on your note 2. Though don't do it with system applications.

A quick noob question about backing up.

I was wondering if making a nandroid backup will also back up the virtual SD card. I have pictures, videos, etc. If nandroid does not back up the virtual SD card is there a different method I can use to back the card up?
Thanks

All of that (music, videos, pics etc) stay on the SD. You could flash 1000 roms and kernels with 25 backups and all your SD card stuff stays in tact.
Hope that helps ya

Do you recommend making a backup in nandroid or titanium backup? And where does nandroid put the backup? On the root of the SD?

There is no SD card...
The backup path is /sdcard/clockwork mod/backup or something similar.
And for which to use: Titanium backup only backs up applications, nandroid backs up almost everything.

I would do a nandroid and a TB backup and yes your nandroid goes to your SD.
Titanium backup will be helpful for your appsand a nandroid will be helpful if you bork anything (boot loop, bad flash etc).
Good luck and pm me if you need any other help.

Titanium Backup
Is it just me or is anyone else noticing that Titanium Backup is having problems with Jellybean.
Yesterday I flashed my Nexus with Jellybean. No when i go to remove an application with Titanium Backup, the app just freezes after i choose to uninstall.
Anyone else having this issue?

Backing up a non-rooted device

I have the Epic 4G Touch. I'd like to proceed with rooting it and ultimately CM10. I'd like to back up all the random stuff that I've accumulated over the last few years of owning this phone before I do that. Titanium Backup is only for rooted devices, as I understand it. What is the preferred method for backing up a device before rooting?

You can root it without losing any data.

Ypu can also just use odin to flash the el26 kernel. Then go into recovery and make a nandroid. After that flash whatever rom after wiping. Then on your new rom use titanium backup pro to restore from nandroid. Choose your apps and the data and restore. Do not restore anything system.

If you haven't moved forward with yet you can also use Helium for your backup -- it is available in the Play Store for free and is one of the only suites that will let you backup apps and data without root. I think that it will require access to a PC for the non-root backup. Good luck!

[Q] Titanium Backup Question

Hi,
I just rooted my phone through the CF root method. I had titanium backup on my previous S4. Do I need to reformat my ext sd card or delete the titanium backup on it because I moved to a new type of phone? I have a Tmobile note 3 now, my S4 was ATT.
Thank you for your time.

No, you shouldn't have to. You probably could actually use the titanium back up, but it's up to you...

Hi,
I did not do any restores from it. But I would like to add back the data on one game.
You can restore data from users apps you backed upped on your S4. Nothing bad happens. Now restoring data on system apps can cause problems.

You'll be perfectly fine if that's the case. I have one specific game I always have to do that with as well. Just do a full restore of the app.... 'app+ data'
