[Q] Download Mode Tweaking Out - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

I was rooted, i unrooted and verified with the terminal emulator and entering "SU" to ensure that. i attempted to update to 4.1.1 from 4.0.4 but when i do so, it boots into TWRP recovery. I attempted to enter download mode, only to have it appear and before i can touch the volume up bottom if fades away. Any Help would be appreciated.
Yes, i am a noob, thats fine with. Everyone was at one point. so help a brother out.

How were you updating to 4.1.1? Through a stock/stock based rom?

Also, you have to have stock recovery (not TWRP) for updates to go through. If you flash http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1904099 in TWRP it will restore you to the latest unrooted update and will give you stock recovery.

Canadian Jelly Bean Updated - Root!

Hi all,
I managed to root the Jelly Bean update by using the same method and files as the ICS stock root.
What I did:
I flashed the new JB update via Odin (not through kies or OTA).
Flashed recovery via Odin
Rebooted and copied Superuser.zip to my phone
Rebooted into recovery and installed the zip.
Everything seems to be functioning normally and the root works.
DISCLAIMER: just because this worked for me doesn't mean you won't brick your phone doing the same. If you brick your phone it is your own fault NOT mine.

So if I get this right...
Flash JB 4.1 through Odin...
Flash ATTGS3CWM6.0.1.2.tar through Odin
Reboot in recovery and install SuperUser.zip
Reboot and voila?

If you are already rooted in ICS, just download Voodoo OTA Root Keeper and backup root, then temporarily unroot. Execute the OTA, restore root using Voodoo, ????, profit!

I flashed via ODIN, then flashed CF-Auto Root, worked perfectly

The OTA will put this stock recovery back, but the method here should maintain root. Just re-install TWRP.

My reply before assumed you were asking for the rooting files to flash. The firmware is available here
so i flashed via ODIN and I'm stuck on the samsung screen at boot. I am coming from CM10. I flashed the file from samsung-updates and used the PDA button to do it. It all looked good while flashing but it rebooted and got stuck on the samsung logo. I didn't start ODIN in admin mode. could that have been the cause? any thoughts? am I screwed?
also when i plug it into the computer it says hardware id missing in windows
new: I have access to download mode. Trying again while running as admin. if this doesn't work I'll try a reboot of the pc and try again and then I'm screwed as to what to do next?
all fixed!
i booted into stock recovery using vol up +home+power and wiped data and cache and rebooted and it's working. now to flash cf auto root
I downloaded the firmware from here:
http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/
I don't necessarily think it will make a difference if you install the JB update via Odin. It's just what I did. You'll definitely need to use Odin to install cwm recovery though.

For future reference, i've found that if you ever re flash and get stuck on the flashing Samsung logo, it's because you didn't wipe you Dalvik and cache BEFORE you flashed. I've had this problem many times and finally figured that out. Alternatively you can install clockwork mod via Odin then reboot into recovery and wipe your caches/factory reset to fix it.

All I did was flash stock recovery then install JB via Kies, still rooted.

I can confirm this works fine as well. I had S-OFF through rumrunner and had flashed TWRP. To take the OTA, I re-flashed the stock recovery (.10) from the link given in this thread, then took the OTA. After the OTA installed with no problems, I re-installed a recovery (I changed to CWM, just for fun). I tested it by booting into recovery, and when I rebooted from CWM, it asked me if I wanted to re-install root (su). The phone now has the OTA (.15), still has SOFF and root was easily recovered.
I flashed the .10 stock recovery and I'm getting an error when I try the ota, any ideas why? I followed these instructions and I end up with a red triangle with exclamation point the reboot and phone works fine. Thanks for any help.
Edit:I got the congratulations message but when I checked it says failed, error 410. I've downloaded it a couple of times.

Could not install the system update 1.54.15409

Every time I click update on my developer mode M8, it restarts automatically in the TWRP recovery mode. I have no choice but to reboot in recovery mode and the phone loads again asking me to update. Has anyone experience this? I am still on the stock ROM withe XPosed installer if that matters. Any suggestions will be appreciated, thank you!

Phone has to be 100% stock, inc. the stock recovery and kernel, to flash an OTA file as it checks to make sure the phone is stock. ANY change to the original system and it'll fail

[Q] Can't install CM11 on Galaxy TabPro 10.1 (picassowifi)

I tried a few ways to install CM11 on Galaxy TabPro 10.1 (picassowifi) and it doesn't work.
I can't even install a custom recovery, either CMR or TWRP. I think my Samsung bootloader maybe locked. Yes, I have rooted it OK and Root Checker tells me its rooted and SuperSU has been update and works fine. Titanium Backup works fine also, so I know its rooted OK.
Still running stock rom 4.4.2. Trying with Odin to load Recovery image and also Flashyfy but neither can install CMR or TWRP on my device. They just leave the stock bootloader in place. So I am thinking maybe the bootloader is locked?
Any advice, and if you have managed to install CM11 on this device, is there a step-by-step guide with file links somewhere?
Thanks

Yeah I tried those instructions, Heimdall Suite. That just gave an error and messed up stock recovery. It then just got stuck on Samsung screen possibly trying to get into recovery mode. . I used my trusted root method again (via download mode) and it re-routed and put back stock recovery. So that fixed that but still no Custom Recovery and no CM11
Is there any way to check if the bootloader is locked or not?
If the bootloader is locked, any ideas how to unlock on this tablet?
Thanks

Using one of the root checker apps, it reported my device as having clockworkmod recovery even though it didn't boot into that. Must have only half worked or something, who knows. I just tried Rashr and that has just sucessfully installed TWRP so I think for here on I'm golden. Thanks so much for recommending me that!

Re-flash stock recovery. GET RID OF TWRP

Hello, everybuddy, i recently installed twrp via flashify on my g3. Now that i see android L is being released, i would like to get the OTA for that so i have to get back to stock recovery. Can i just flash it via flashify? and if i can what do i flash? and will it be the same as it was before so i can get OTA? im also rooted, will i get eh OTA if i have root? i know it will kill it but i dont care about that, i just want to make sure ill get the OTA
Your best bet will probably be to follow this guide here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-lg-g3/general/firmware-t-mobile-lg-g3-t2818667
This will take you back to stock. Getting rid of TWRP is not enough to get OTA to successfully install. You also need to unroot and restore any apps that you may have frozen or removed such as CarrierIQ. Additionally remove xposed if running. Again, instead of going through that trouble, it would be easier to get restore to stock since it's a quick flash.
Note: I would not necessarily be in a hurry to take the OTA. It's possible that it may not be easy to obtain root. Thus I would suggest waiting till one of the devs has had the opportunity to review and confirm that root can still be obtained.

Hi, I am looking for flashing stock recovery on my LG G3 Sprint LS990. I believe the same method will work. I am currently running on stock ZVB ROM rooted and TWRP installed as recovery. In the download folder for LS990-ZVB http://downloads.codefi.re/autoprime/LG/LG_G3/LS990/stock_partitions/ZVB, there is no recovery image file, but in ZVA folder there is. I am just wondering if I can flash ZVA folder's recovery image using Flashify to my ZVB ROM LS990 and if that will work.
My LS990 is rooted and currently have TWRP. i get secure boot error when the phone reboots after accepting Android updates installation that come automatically. I believe installing stock recovery will resolve this issue and allow to install Android updates I do not want to going back to stock completely, that will unroot my phone and again I have do all these staffs.
Anyone can help to advise, will be appreciated. Thanks.
