Music skipping - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

So about 2 days ago I got a new 64GB SDXC and ever since then my music has been skipping horribly to the point where it skips to a random song in my queue and sometimes even plating the wrong song
my music is FLAC and MP3

Which micro sd card do you have? You shouldn't have any problems running FLAC music with a UHS-1/Class 10 card or at least a Class 6 card minimum. Worst case scenario is that your card is a fake because they tend to degrade in performance or perform slow to begin with (let's hope that isn't the case).
Perhaps it could also be your music player app, try installing it again? I recommend switching between PowerAmp, Winamp and Player Pro to see if there is any change. Last solution would be to format your micro sd card and transfer all the music back on to it again (if possible, transfer 5-10 songs at a time) and hopefully that will resolve your problem.

this is my MicroSD http://goo.gl/zgRQ6 amazon says it's a class 10 i have tred formatting it many times i have tried player pro, apollo, sony walkman, Zplayer, and ubermusic all with no luck
also if it matters i am running CM10

Try testing the speed of your sd card, you can install SD Card Tester and see if you're getting close to the advertised read/write speed. Also check if the results you get are consistent, perhaps trying the test 5-10 times should help you determine if it is.
Also, what happens if you put several songs on your internal memory and you play them, does it also skip? If not, it is most likely your micro sd. From what I've read in the reviews on the link you've sent me, there are some people who've said their card had become defective over time.
Edit: If you also have another micro sd card available, see if listening to music from it gives you the same issue. In that case, reflashing your rom may help.
2nd Edit: What file system did you format the micro sd in? Make sure you have formatted it in FAT32, apparently some roms have trouble reading exFAT and NTFS.

Thanks for your help but my problem has been fixed my card apparently my card reader is brokem i had been taking the MicroSD card out and putting it in a card reader to speed up transfer but once i transferred music straight from the phone everything worked perfectly also people have reported that that card reader sometimes copies files with broken parts which is exactly what was happening with me

That's a first, would have never thought of that! Good job on finding out the issue and fixing it. :good: Time to get the card reader replaced just in case you would need to use one again, ahaha. Cheers!

Have you tried a different music player?

[Q] Video playback from SD card freezes on S3

I purchased SanDisk Micro SDXC 64GB Class 10(UHS-1) card few months ago. I used it on my T-Mobile SGH-T999, and recently noticed video playback would freeze on my phone. I've done few tests to find out what the cause was, with different memory cards with different format, and was able to narrow it down to SanDisk card.
I ran the SD card test, and there was no bad sector and card was performing great on Windows, and when tested on my phone using tester application, it also worked great. But only when I'm playing a video on my phone(from the SDXC memory card), video playback freezes(not the phone, only the video) after couple minutes. And when I exit out of the video and try to do something else on the card(transfer files, access different files) it won't respond and says "this file cannot be accessed(or something similar)".
Only after reboot of the phone, or when I unmount and mount the card again, it starts working again. However, if I try to watch video from card again, it will freeze.
I tried using the card in 3 different formats (FAT32, NTFS, exFAT) and all of them returned same results. I tried formatting on the phone, and on Windows using different application, but all the results were same.
I tried using the stock video player, as well as MX player. And like-wise, the results were same.
I also tried using Samsung's Class 10 32GB card, and it worked fine.
What could be the problem? The SD card seems to work perfectly for transferring files either on phone, or on computer. Only the video playback on S3 is causing problem.
I use rooted stock Jelly Bean Rom by the way, and the video I tested were 1080p and 720p H.264 files. And the video plays perfectly fine on the phone memory.

Theres a couple roms with SD Card read/write speed tweaks(Darthstalker is the most recent). Maybe that will help you. With a little more research I'm sure you can find the script to use on a plain rooted stocked.
Thanks for the reply

[Q] Music won't play from sd card

Anyone have this issue and know of a fix? I've formatted my sd card and moved music from pc to card twice now. Each time, only 4 or 5 of the hundred or so songs will actually play on my s2. I've tried using Apollo and PlayerPro, as well as another app or two. I get a "this file type isn't supported" sort of thing. I never had an issue with a 16gb sd card I used, but this one is 32gb. Not even sure that would be part of the issue. Any tips?

What format are these in? MP3? Do they have copyright locks? Somd companies such as Apple lock their music/videos so only authorized devices can play them.

How can I test my SD card?

I just got a nice refurbished 64 GB micro sd card from woot.com. When I listen to play music and use it as my storage location, I get typically 2 good songs, then 2 songs with a lot of chirping and cutting out, then 2 good songs, then 2 with chirping, etc. I have my titanium backups going to the SD card without issue. I also have my camera app set to store pictures there.
Titanium backup and my pictures all seem fine. I don't recall Play Music All Access doing this when my storage location was set to internal.
There is a lot of cards with fake capacity, i ran on 3 or 4 of them. It seems that they have ok capacity in windows, if you write lot of files it seems they are written ok, but when you try to read them, then the problems occurs. Google the H2testw, great program to determine real capacity of card. For 32gb it ran approximately 2.5 hours, so prepare to wait

[Q] problem playing music

i bought a 128gb micro sd card for my htc one m9. i moved all of my music onto the sd card but cannot play it on my phone. is there any way to fix this? ive tried to play it in the music app and the google music app but it doesnt show me any way to play the songs.
Are they recognized in file explorer? Any files on SD visible?

yes. when i looked on file manager it showed every song, and it would let me play them individually on either of the 2 music apps but will not let me get them on the apps themselves. i would not let me skip to the next song. i would have to look through all of the songs to find a specific one. it would take far too long.

Strange, may have something to do with the size of the card although I have heard it can accept a 128GB card. Is app on internal storage or SD? If on internal storage, shouldn't be an issue. Also, is music stored in music folder?
Try going to settings/apps/all/music and clear cache and data and then reopen music app to see if it finds your files.
I put all of the songs in the folder called google.music or something like that first and it didn't work, so I made a folder called music and that didnt work. So I tried formatting the sd card and moved the songs again and it didn't work. Just cleared cache and data and it didn't work. Also, when I look at the storage in settings it says there is music on the sd card.
Wow, looks like you've attempted all remedies. Do you have another SD card to try to rule out issues with the 128GB card?
Just buy a real micro sd card instead of the fake one.. the fake one won't work..
P.S. Your question does not relate to HTC M9.

what are you talking about? i did research to make sure that the micro sd card i bought was compatible with my htc one m9. not fake. and it clearly relates to a HTC ONE M9 as that is the phone i am having the problem with. ****ing idiot.

Same issue here, but I'm just moving my music on to the phone itself now and that works just fine. I moved my pictures to the SD card and the gallery app has no problem finding the pictures. It's just the music app that's having difficulty.
Strange that this is occurring. I have 800+ songs on my SD card (64 gigabyte) and the music app finds and plays them without issues
Genuine SanDisk...
Not a remedy for standard player but I can confirm Poweramp works perfectly from music on the card.
Yes, if you don't really need the greatest musics on the go - you can go with PowerAMP.. again if you only need the best from the life, and this is why you have habitually opted for the next HTC, then you won't depart your further amazing without NEUTRON..

also I have the same problem.
I had the songs to work well and suddenly I ran out of songs according to play music.
with another application "ES EXplorer" he can identify the songs and play smoothly.
Still, I prefer the Play Music but this does not identify any music on cellphone

which file system is on your sd card? is it formatted as fat32? it normally should work fine. try formatting it with some professional tools, not windows and try again..also don't format in phone, sometimes it breaks the compatibility...if you already tried on windows but not on phone try it with formatting on phone...otherwise do the step i told you on windows with a formatting tool for sd cards and format to either fat or fat32
Make sure SD is FAT32, try a player that lets you select a music directory such as PlayerPro or PowerAMP. Using a Sandisk 64GB SD as portable storage in CM13, and both these players (in fact many others as well) can see all the files without a problem.
try different music players, or make sure the file formats are supported, or the sd card could be incorrectly formatted?

issue with music playing cm 12.1 (vk410)

tablet has worked flawless until this happened, the music will only play the first second and then skip to the next track. if its in a play list, it will play every track like that until the playlist is done. i already tried a third party app to play music, and updated. wanted to see if theres a fix
Is your music on your internal storage or external, or are you streaming? If local, I would guess external due to most of these devices having limited internal storage. Could be you need to reformat the MicroSD card from the tablet to get it formatted correctly - maybe the files are corrupted due to a format problem. Lots of people have issues when they format from a PC, or don't reformat the card after they buy it.
its funny you mention that because thats what i was thinking of doing last night before going to bed (they should have a reddit called bed thoughts) anyway, yes i will try that
Edit:Just an update, i noticed all the music had a file size of like 32 kb, so somehow all the music go corrupted. im going to copy the original music back on and see if it corrupts again. not sure if it was the rom or the actual sd card.
