[Q] Unlocked Bootloader - Sony Xperia S, Acro S, Ion

Ive read many posts and threads, and i still confused of them. There is no clear answer bout few things on our phone, which one is not goin to work anymore.
Example, few people say that BE doesnt work after unlocking. But few say also that BE still works. So which one is correct?
And are there any other things that will not work after unlocking?
Im sorry for asking this because many threads have already discussed it. But i just want to have a clear answer bout it.
Thankyou for your kindness and answers

It doesnt work on Xperia s if you unlock your bootloader
But thanks to developers on xda they have made it possible to get it working again if you relock your bootloader and install/flash your drm keys again for more info follow this thread

And one thing more BE 2 works only works on pictures. on video there seems to be no difference... But BE 2 adds very good colour to the pictures
BE 1 works completely with no issues

I'd love to see a bunch of kernel tutorials too, like how to build, fix, and update it.

Okay guys the first tutorial will be cdma/GSM kernel building. All the way from the commands to building a boot.img from scratch on either device
Edit: sorry guys, lately I've been working a lot. 20 hours this weekend alone. I'll get a tutorial soon!

looking forward to it!
is it possible to also include how to add features to the kernel, such as swipe to wake?
Yeah. I will make a tutorial for that as well. I'll show you guys how to add XZ compression since it can be a bit tricky and how to patch. Ill even start a fresh kernel source and do modifications to it in a clean way so you can see things better. Just need time at this point, but looking like Saturday will be when I will get started basically

uninstall system apps

Hi Everybody,
I just bought an used HTC One X 32Go to replace my old good HTC Desire.
This Phone is unsimlocked but it come from the french provider SFR.
My provider is FreeMobile.
As soon as as I got this phone I wanted to uninstall all sucking and useless apps : SFR apps, Facebook ... etc
So I unlocked the bootloader, root my HOX and install TWRP with the All-In-One Toolkit V2.5. But unfortunatly, despite this, all these apps are only de-activable but not un-installable :crying:
OK, I will do with it...
But now I have a fundamental question : given all this points, will I have the OTA update Android 4.2.2 with Sense 5 when it will show up ?
Your opinion ?
Thanks
Cheers from France

To uninstall system apps you need something like titanium backup and before that you have to root with an zip package your Rom...
And if you want to get then the oat you just need to have stock recovery and stock boot.img and maybe also relocked boot loader bit its working also with unlocked sometimes...

You saw the android development forum for hox right? If yes there are some tutorials...and there you can find those files...please use search...if you use search you can learn yourself better what to do etc...because if everyone always is helping then the most noobs won't learn anymore for that...

Dear Agil1ty and One-X-master
I'm on XDA forum since 18 month. I'm reading and learning a lot of things from the seniors members and developers.
But when, for the first time I ask something the "search answer" is a bit rude !
Two points,
1/ XDA forums is a huge source of information, but sometimes maybe too huge. Even when using the search function it's difficult to find what you're looking for
2/I'm feeling like a stranger in a foreign country asking for a street, and he gets as an answer "search on a map !"
I understand your point of view but please be tolerant and understand my position
Thanks

gr2p is right . arrogance isn't needed. And i think xda wasn't ment for it either.
I think alot of people get lost on xda even with the search as it may refer to more then one device...
We are here to help each other. And thats what we should do.nothing else.
i know some wont agree with me , thats fine with me.but hey every has the right sharing his opinions and toughts right?

Not when THE sticky post in this very forum category is a post where someone has gone to the trouble of collating all the relevant basic information for those who need a central resource.

And saying about other ppl they are arrogant or so is also not so fine....I just said he should try to search because in the forums for box there are the needed threads always at top so it is easy to find...so a bit of searching wouldn't be hard or? The most ppl are getting lazy and lazy and instead of a lil Bit searching they just ask but ok if you think I'm arrogant and I our think it was rude okay then I don't help you anymore

[Q] Stock demo videos

Hi, I am looking for the 2 demo videos that come on the phone. I deleted them but then realized they are great videos to show off the screen to co-workers. Does any one have these uploaded somewhere so I can download them? If not, can someone point me to a guide or what not on how to extract files from TOT files? I downloaded the verizon TOT file and tried to use G2 windowsLGFirmwareExtract but I guess I don't know how to use it right or it doesn't work because when I used it to merge the bin files into a .img file the .img file wouldn't mount saying it was corrupt or something like that.
Anyways, help in either direction would be great! Thanks!!
There is a thread here already with these, search for it. I dont have the link handy.

I spoke too soon... I followed the link inside the link you posted and found the "unlocked" videos and saw your "thanks" on that post but when I download them they still show as locked. How did you get them to work? Do they have to be in a certain folder or?

Yup, those are the ones I downloaded... but then I read in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/themes-apps/accidently-uninstalled-beautiful-t2822455/page2 ... video license could be device specific and since you are on the d855 i'm on on the vs985, that could be why they work for you and not me.

Not Cool Buddy.. Maybe he has a reason and we just don't know yet.
So far I've had this phone for two weeks and I love it. This is the longest I've gone without a rooted phone in 8 years. I don't feel the need to have a rooted phone for now...
LIES! Man got exited for a second there. Can someone take this down, no need to have it here. We're never gonna see Root on this phone.
Agreed

This should get moved right away. The post is a slew of negative things that are counter productive to the community. One its false and misleading, titled at&t multiple times and posted in an at&t only forum, someone is going to brick their device and be out 700 bucks cause of this joker. Not to mention this is essentially spam, the only responses to this have been negative as its a fraudulent post, but that's not development and its doing nothing but bring down the integrity of the forum in general. Thank you.
From the Moderator
To all and the OP ..... until root is achieved, this ROM is not going to work on your phone, It might work if you were using a T mobile phone on ATT network.......
........But since the OP failed to accurately describe what is what........ this can only create problems and bad feelings........ which we do not need......
Remember when there is a problem with the thread REPORT IT ....Do Not Try to moderate yourself...... that is what /why we are here to help.......

A team is actually working on this.

I hate to even ask...

... but how can I use my Note 7 again? I never installed the "Stop the 60% battery limit", and I had it off for month now. I am afraid to turn it on, because supposingly T-Mobile will automatically, no matter what, install a "Brick this Phone NOW" update. At least this is my understanding.
That said. The hardest part is, that I do not have the time, nor the "understanding", to filter through a thousand post, "deciding" what is useful info and what is not. As great as this site is, it is also the downfall for someone like me.
So, if someone out there feels like wanting to be my HERO, please tell what to do. Even though you probably did it already a thousand times in this forum before, be my Obi Wan Kenobi and guide me in the right direction.
Thanks,
G
