I was running CleanRom, and I have my device scheduled to be sent back to Samsung for repair (4G LTE will not work).
Regardless, I downloaded the official Note II Software, and flashed it through Odin 3.
It says its passed, but it is currently stuck on the Samsung logo. Its been flashing blue (so its not frozen) for a little bit, I'd say approx. 8 minutes.
Do I restart it? Do I let it sit? Is this device ****ed?

curious to know how you determined that your 4G LTE is not working?
I only can connect to HSPA+/3G.
When I go dial *#*#4363*#* (or whatever it is) and try to change it to LTE, it auto switches back to WCDMA preffered.

Got it. Your issue reminded me of s similar problem I had with my SGS3; I called at&t and they did something to my account to correct the issue. Thanks for your reply and I hope you get your issue resolved.

first, made sure i was on a stock ROM with Stock recovery and a factory reset device (wasn't concerned about being rooted). second, i went to Settings-->About Device-->Status and confirmed Mobile Network type was not LTE:14. third, i used *#*#4636#*#* and selected LTE/GSM/WCDMA to confirm it would/would not stick. fourth called at&t and told them about my LTE connection troubleshooting steps (that didn't work) and asked them to confirm i had LTE enabled (e.g., playing dumb). requested they transfer me to Android team and that they did something to reset my data connection (i believe) and after a reboot, all was well. don't know if it will work for you, but it's at least worth a try.

I had a Nexus 4 before I got the note 2 and when i swaped sims my note 2 would not connect to LTE no matter how many times i rebooted or anything, so i went the next day to ATT and they changed my account to an LTE account since I had the N4 i was on a HSPA+ type of account.
After they did what they did, it connected to LTE after a couple of minutes.

OK, I have the same problem. I have been on Clean Rom for a couple months. I have never had LTE working correctly since my first flash. If I flash a new rom whether it is Clean or something else after the initial boot LTE works. If I reboot the phone it never comes back. I have tried all of the above tricks with no luck. Something is causing it to stop working. Anybody have any new ideas?
Thanks

This may sound obvious - and you probably already did this - but did you check the APN settings to be sure they were correct? I had this problem on a few roms - checked and corrected my APN settings and all is good...

Yes I have checked the APN. I have actually tried several different APN's but no such luck.
What kills me is LTE works right after a fresh flash. I get great speeds but as soon as I reboot bam its gone. No LTE. It's driving me crazy.

How can I select USB debugging if the phone doesn't come on for me to access the option.
Although if I remember correctly, I already had it on before this incident occurred.

My device was rooted. I want to get it to work. Doesn't matter with the roms. Any rom that makes it come on is good enough for me.
When I attempt to get it into recovery, all I get is a blank grey screen with white horizontal lines. Download menu doesn't show the device name and all other details are there.
I have tried everything that I've gathered from different threads as well. Keep on getting stuck on pit section.
I've spoken to samsung and sending it for repairs.
I've looked at other threads and from, that I've gathered its half sds and it's a hardware problem which according to the forums will be replaced as the technicians themselves cannot put roms on so they'll change the faulty parts, install a stock rom and send it back.
I could be wrong, so if there are anything else I could try, please advise. Many thanks.

In my opinion if you are not able to find anything from xda or any other site..i think you should go to samsung service center..
or i guess you have bad recovery..just try to flash a new recovery like cwm or philz recovery through odin..May be this might help you.
Update to the issue NOW lol
Hi guys, hope all is well with everyone. I sent the phone to the service centre and got it back unresolved but better than originally. I have new issues which is explained in a new thread. Please advise and help if possible. Many thanks again guys. much respect.

Hello and thank you for clicking into my topic.
i just bought a used Samsung Galaxy note II online and when i got it and put in my sim, i noticed that there was no service.
i can go WIFI and use apps and stuff but i cannot call or update firmware.
so i tried to reformat it using the system recovery boot.
and still no changes... i did some research in the phone and noticed i have no IMEI and there is absolutely no service in the phone.
tried to take of the battery to see the imei on the phone but the previous owner has taken the sticker off.
i've tried to contact the previous owner but he has deleted his account on the site i bought it from.
is there something i can do.. if i wanted a multimedia pad i would've bought a ipad
please i hope there is some kind and wise soul out there that has a solution on fixing my new phone.
thank you very much!
i have some screenshots but i apperently need to post 10 posts before i can attach them.
pm me i will send them to you.

Which country are you in?You can try flashing official 4.4.2 stock firmware of your region,if it's not available for your country then I recommend NE1 France base from here extract the zip file you'll get a tar.md5 file put your phone into download mode (volume down+home+power) connect it to pc odin v 3.09.Wait for ID port to turn blue with ID COM id shown once successful usb connection established between phone and odin ,check the ap/pda tab in odin and select the above tar.md5 stock rom file you downloaded.Make sure only auto reboot and reset time are checked in ODIN and nothing else.Hit start and sit back and let odin do it's thing.

i am very new'b in odin and flashing and would rather avoid bricking it completly
I have a Samsung S4 Mini on the Verizon network (SCH-i435). I restarted my phone this morning and it took a much longer than usual to boot. My screen showed the Verizon logo for about 5-10 minutes and when the phone finally booted I was greeted with the utility to set up the phone (pick language, setup email, etc. etc.). I was confused because I had done this already a few months ago when I bought the phone. I skipped the steps and I was greeted with the stock home screen (all my custom shortcuts and widgets were gone). All my marketplace apps were still installed, but some of them had been reset (had to reconfigure waze, winamp, etc). My best guess is that there was an OTA update or some security patch that reset everything. Finally I got things running again the way I liked them. I was using my phone and suddenly it went dead. I tried to restart it but nothing showed on the screen. Oddly enough the phone just vibrates over and over again, but the screen remains black. No matter what I do I can't boot it. The only way I could stop it from vibrating was to pull out the battery. Is there any hope to recover this phone? Thanks.
Did you try to enter recovery mode?
Yes, I followed the instructions on the manufacturer site. I held down the home button, up volume, and powered the device on. A small bit of text appeared for a split second, it was so fast I couldn't read it. It disappeared and the screen went black and the same vibrate pattern started up again.
I got a video camera and managed to capture the text that was being displayed. Here is a screenshot...
It looks like...
MMC: mmc_read fail
Movinaand Checksum Confirmation Fail
Any hope of fixing this?
I asked for recovery cause it was easier to reset to factory the phone. If that's not working, i don't know if there's hope for it to enter download mode, for manual flashing with odin.
I'm able to get into download mode. Is there a ROM I can flash with? This S4 Mini is the Verizon phone so it is the SCH-i435, I didn't think there were any custom roms I could use with this phone.
Stock rom.

Any ideas? I googled around for a bit but didn't find anything. Is there a PIT file specific for the SCH-i435?

I am not sure since this is the first time for me with experience with that phone...
In Odin, make sure Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time check boxes are only two that are selected. DO NOT SELECT ANY OTHER OPTION! Click the AP/PDA button and select that file you downloaded earlier with extension I435VRUBNE1_I435VZWBNE1_VZW.tar.md5 Click the CSC button and select file with CSC in its name. Ignore if there is no such file. Click the PIT button and select the .pit file. Ignore if there is no such file. (You should have this file, do it if you are having that error) Now, once you are ready, hit the START button to begin the flashing process.
If you have any other problems please ask.

Where do I get this file from? I looked at many Odin tutorials but none of them seem to say where I can get it. My phone is dead so if it's something that I need to extract/transfer from my phone then I'm out-of-luck.
I think I'll just contact Verizon and see if my phone is under warranty and if they can send me a new one. It may be easier than combing the web for a tutorial that more fully explains what this PIT file is and why I need it.
In the future should I disable Verizon OTA updates? I suspect a error during the update is what caused this problem in the first place.

The file should be one of the extracted files in the file you have downloaded from my links. If the file is not there, then most probably Verizon modded the phone to not be able to flash via Odin Mode.
The error during the update may have happened because of low battery, making your phone shut down during the update, which is serious.
You can check yourself if your phone is under warranty (excluding the warranty period)
-Just go to download mode and you will see: KNOX WARRANTY VOID: [if it is 0x0, than it you are still under warranty, but if it says 0x1, you are not.]
Yeah, you should go to the place you have bought the phone from, if none of the above steps worked for you.
Good Luck.
I looked at the links you sent me and I searched the samsung site but I could not find that PIT file. I bought it back into my local Verizon store and they gave me a new S4 Mini. The tech didn't say much about why it broke, he only said that it was still under warranty so I was covered. To avoid something like this happening again I wanted to disable updates on my new S4 Mini. I rooted my new phone, purchased Titanium Backup, and Froze SDM. Is there anything else I have to do?

You got the same version of your previous phone?
Yes, that's all they would do for free. They did offer me a Droid Turbo for and extra $100.00 but I really don't like the large phones they're coming out with these days so I declined.
Then you shouldn't get OTA Updates. I don't think that it was needed since the problem you got earlier was because of a faulty firmware from Verizon, which is unlikely or your phone had no battery while your phone was updating.
I'm trying to root my Note 4 that is currently running 5.1.1 and im using Odin3 - 3.10.6 and CF-Auto-Root-trltevzw-trltevzw-smn910v.tar.md5.

Same problem here. My understanding after doing a lot of research is that with the boot-loader locked we can not root using CF-Auto-Root. So currently and for the foreseeable future you, I, and all the other lucky souls with the SMN-910V are screwed! Verizon are bastards and that is about all I have to say about that...

There is not permanent root for the retail Verizon Note 4. Nor the AT&T Note 4. There are still developers working on it. It is that the boot-loader is locked and in the boot loader is a verifying routine/program call DM-verity. It looks for a key or something ( i am not programmer just a power user) and with this routine and verification process, if the key is not found you can not write to the /system directory. It is in read only mode. With out the System directory being writable, you can't have root.
I believe the boot loader on the Verizon S4 was also locked, but it was still rootable. I still have my S4 from before I got my Note 4, and there was a way to root it. I basically kept it stock, with the only notable difference being the hotspot icon in the notification panel. I'm not sure how it was done, but maybe, and I understand this is a BIG maybe, someone could look into how it was done on that phone and do something similar with ours. Like the last user in the last post, I'm no programmer, just someone who loves Android and still gets plenty of use out my phone, even though we can't root it yet, so I apologize if I'm way off here. Possibly just grasping at straws
A simple search of the Forums will show you many posts stating that the Note 4 does NOT have Permanent Root. Only the Developer Edition has Perm Root.
And after that search of the forums, if you read the posts you'll see what they have already tried. Needless to say those are very long threads.

Yep... I think that a lot of folks are just now buying this device and are bypassing the older threads altogether.
C'mon folks. S E A R C H.
The note3 has root, and is very similar to the Note4. I was lucky enough to sell my retail Note4 when it was new. It sold for almost what it cost for the Note4 Dev edition. Nowdays, when I see a dev ed Note4 go up on Ebay, it goes for $500-$900. This might be the last phone I buy for a long time. Honestly, if I can't get a phone with a replaceable battery, mSD card slot and root, then I might as well get an iPhone. At least Apple is able to keep Verizon from putting uninstallable crapware on their phone, and they do a good job in curating a good user experience.
Got Black Note 7 from Verizon yesterday.
As we all know, V's firmware messed up with the original system quite a lot. So after a bit search, I decided to flash it to T-Mobile Firmware.
With Odin3, easily done. However, LTE not working, not cellular either, emergency call only. Then decided to flash to AT&T according to one of the threads(maybe link later).
After flashing to AT&T firmware, still no LTE, emergency call only.
When I tried to flash it back to Verizon, Odin3 stopped me from doing so and gives SHA256 error.

Also, I'm still in the 14 days return period. Anyone has an idea if they'll allow me to return the device after I flashed the AT&T firmware on it?
(went to a Verizon store asking for help but they told me "we don't flash things")

I also flashed firmware on s7 edge but they worked all fine even from u to v. Odin sometimes feels tricky to work around.
We're your APN setting adjusted after you flashed from Verizon to the other roms?
