Am I unrooted? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II

I had my phone rooted and was on the recent jedi rom. I then tried to go back to stock and my phone got stuck at the start up screen. I downloaded the rooted with no tripping firmware and did that through odin and it worked. I then updated to the recent update for this phone , 4.1.2. My phones status says normal, but I still have super su and can't get rid of it. Did I do something wrong? I'm Trying to get back to stock so I can get it exchanged because of speaker problems.

Open the su app, go to settings, hit unroot. Wouldnt hurt to run triangle away before you do that and make sure you have stock recovery also:thumbup:

Thanks! I tried that and nothing happened, I think im going to try and flash a 100% pure att stock firmware and see if that fixes it. The one that I plash before said root in the name so that might be the problem.

once you use triangle away you have to factory reset it to return to stock
There is no update yet.

And no worries man, usually when there is a firmware update we will get our hands on it and have a ROM set and ready to rock before the download from kies would even finish

LMAO!!!! so so so true...
Ive never ran across this problem before with the s2 or 3. Im on the stock injected firmware and want to be able to get updates without having to odin back to stock or flashing a different recovery. How would one go about this? Sorry for thread jacking but figured others will have this question. Thanks.

The previous answers cover it. I went back to stock on my S 3 for the last official ICS update, but was really a WOT. Don't have to ODIN back to stock unless you want to run on stock.
You would probably see an Odin update (which will install the firmware and and Modem when a simple ROM flash would not) pretty soon after it is OTA'd, and you could use this and not have to have the hassle of going back to stock to get it. If it is not a complete ROM, you will have to be sure you are already updated to the firmware that the OTA would be updating.

Stuck on black Galaxy note 2 screen

Someone please help me. I tried to flash the unroot back to stock through twrp as ma5 wasn't working all that well for me and i wanted to start from scratch unrooted and get the sprint ova for the ma7.
So i flashed the file and it said that it was successful. It even went to the special recovery like it was supposed to before rebooting. Now we get to the problem. The phone wont reboot. It just stays on the first black galaxy note 2 screen. Is there anything i can do to fix this? Someone please help me.
U coukd try and flash another rom or use odin to flash a stock rom.

I tried both of those already. It acts like everything flashes ok but then when it reboots, it stays on the black note 2 screen
You can try flashing twrp through odin and make sure auto reboot is not checked
Then reboot into recovery and flash a rom.
Unless you can reboot into recivery, cause if you can then this is pointless.

I had to order a new phone through Sprint. Luckily it was so screed up they couldn't tell whether it was rooted or not. Which is double good because I also had a broken secure element

Device status official

I just unrooted my phone, and device status says official. That means its just back to how I got it from the store, and I can get the ota update, right?
When I go to about device and press software update, it will update as if I never rooted the phone, correct?
Pretty much what I'm trying to ask, my phone is back to its full original form, as if I never rooted it, right?

yes. if you have not flashed anything then your back to complete stock however if you flashed any custom rom your flash counter will have been tripped which would require you use traingle away to rest. But if all you did was root your phone with motochopper and have now unrooted it, it should be like stock

Follow this guide that I made if you want to get ota updates again. There's an issue where you probably have to wipe your internal SD. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2336392
In my opinion, to get the latest update just download the official .tar rom from sammobile.com and flash it in Odin... You'll ,together, return to box state and have the most up to date official rom...
Always be careful, read read and read before you do anything...
The flash counter increases every time you use Odin to flash (e.g., a rooted kernel) even if everything else is stock. When I needed warranty exchange a few weeks ago I was forced to use Triangle Away even though I had never installed a custom ROM and had only been rooted.

It doesnt matter if he uses Triangle Away right now, he has TWRP on it. Until he is 100% stock + rooted it will always say modified.

You're completely right. I forgot that he said he was still rooted. Assumed he unrooted at this point.

I'm 100% stock+rooted and it says under status that my phone is custom. Even After using triangle away. If I want to get the OTA update I'm gonna have to ODIN flash a stock firmware.

In triangle away check the box for 'System Modified Workaround', After a reboot it disables root for a few minutes, it should say Official after that.
What kind of recovery do you have? Stock?

Flash stock recovery (I think there is an Odin file floating around) then use triangle away. Should reset you back. The bootloader is running a check on the recovery at boot. If it doesn't match a certain value (I think it checks the signature) then it trips the counter.

Might not even matter, but just in case, do triangle away before you flash to stock. That's the way I've been told to do it, and its safer I guess.

Whoops. I actually responded to this post, buy I guess I quoted it.
To be safe, I'd use triangle away right before you flash you stock ROM. That's the way I was told to do it, and worked without a hitch. Plus, it's way easier.

Quite possibly the easiest thing to find. Use Google or YouTube and type in "how to unroot TMobile S4."
All the instructions give you links to the official stock Roms.

Is there a way to make phone status official without a pc

Well I went back to stock firmware, then triangle awayed, and unrooted via superuser su. Phone still showed phone had been modified trying to ota. I know this is because I still had a custom recovery. So in recovery I restored root than with mobile odin I flashed the stock firmware. I forgot to triangle away again. So now I'm without a computer to re root and triangle away. Am I right that there is no way to root again without a computer? I have this trade for the note 3 set up tomorrow morning and he wanted stock. .. It is stock now but with phone status custom. ..

Nope, there is no way to do it without computer since Mobile Odin requires root to start with.
If I were you I would not say anything about status "custom", if he asks about it tell him you
can change it for him as soon as you can get to a computer......
Good luck!
Yeah I kind of figured. Thought maybe there was a script or something by now. I think on my s2 I rooted without a computer. Or maybe the galaxy 4g. Lol I know one phone had a script you could do it through terminal.

Yuup. Even after trying again, this time I triangle awayed right before mobile odin to stock and my phone status still is official. So going to borrow my girlfriend's computer once again to make this phone back to official.
