What's the best way to get books in PDF format? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note II

I want to be able to buy books in PDF format so that I can use ezPDF Reader to highlight them and take notes. What is the best way to do this if possible?
Thanks in advance.

Ok, looks like the best thing to do is use the Nook Reader app. It allows you to highlight and make notes.

Just a thought but can't you just change the ext to .pdf and see if that works.

Also a lot of the readers on Google Play have ways of marking passages and other types of note taking.

Any Good as a PDF Reader ?

Is the desire any good as a pdf reader.
I have some tech manuals thata re 20mb in size, would it handle them OK ?
Thanks
I use my desire to read mags (not those type!) that are about 50MB in size. Works a charm.
Is the pdf reader able to view PDFs directly online without needing to save them and open another program?

[Q] Reader/Shelf and pdf reader.

Ok so with the Reader and My shelf widget, I was wondering how I can add my own books, eg ones on my SD Card to the list of books there? Any one know how to?
Also what pdf reader is recommended for reading books?

Add the books in /sdcard/Digital Editions . I add them in epub format, don't know if the reader can open pdf files.

There are free converters for epub. The reader app is excellent, apart from the lack of cyrilic fonts build-in and you have to reconvert your books to include the font

Hi! i'm definitely no authority on the matter, but here's my experience so far:
firstly you'll have to get an ebook reader, If I remember correctly there's one already on the phone made by HTC (though I may have downloaded it from the market myself) it's just called Reader, and comes with a few books built in (Alice's Adventures in Wonderland etc.). I believe it's meant to be more of a portal to an online store where you can purchase more books. I've not tried it myself yet, but have heard you can add ebooks of a certain format (epub I believe) into a folder on your SD card (you have to name the folder Digital Editions if I remember correctly) and it'll find them and add them to your collection.
I also understand that there is an Android version of Amazon's Kindle software, but have no experience with it. It looks to be available here: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/feature.html/ref=red_lnd_shrt_url?ie=UTF8&docId=1000423873
The other ebook reader I have downloaded (from the market) seems to have a good reputation is Aldiko. Again this comes with a couple of books built in, and again you can import your own epubs.
both seem quite usable.
When it comes to ebooks the seem to come in many formats - .lit, .epub, .html and .pdf to name the few that I know. These can be DRM protected, to prevent piracy / sharing. Also there is software available to create your own or convert one format to the other, I recently used Calibre on my PC which seemed to work well.
As to where you can get hold of the books, there is obviously the official channels - using the stores in Aldiko, Reader, or the Kindle app (I'm sure there are many more). Then there is the shadier, less legal way - if you wish to go down this route I would advise you to be careful and that google is your friend.
Good choice with the Jonathan Stroud books, they're great fun.
I hope that helps,
Good luck,
Grim.
For ya books, get aldiko then have a look at this website, www.drinkmalk.com, the Johnathan Stroud books you are after are on there, this is not a pirate books website

I have loads of books in pdf and txt formats, any readers that support them? Adobe Reader ofcourse for pdf, but it,s not as user friendly as the readers...
Yeah, I like Aldiko too. Although I originally wanted something as nice looking as the iPhone app. I intend to have an ebook reader section or page when I get around to it on that site and an Android User Interface section.
If anyone recommends any - I'll add them to the pages.
Official Aldiko link.

I agree. The best Adobe Reader experience I had (as far as perfect scrolling was concerned) was with Windows Mobile 6.1. (WM 6.5 wasn't as good for some reason on my ROM/phone at the time.)
Even on the Desire HD, the Adobe Reader experience seems low par.
I too would be interested in a better and especially smoother Android .pdf reader.
.Epub
Make the following folder on your HTC Desire HD: Digital Editions.
Make sure your Ebook files are .epub format.
Place the .epub files in the Digital Editions folder and after that you'll find them on your bookshelf of your Reader from HTC.
That simple
The thing I don't like about aldiko is that even if you set the margins to 0, you still have the side margins in portrait mode, whereas with fbreader and moon+ reader you can have books full screen

Best reading experience I ever had was iSilo. I used that on my palmpilot IIIc up through my winmo Touch HD.
Nowadays, everything seems to come in .epub format. Best readers I've found are fbReader or moon+reader. I prefer fbReader due to it not using resources/battery if you tell it not to use the accelerometers (which moon+ stills seems to use and drain battery doing so), even though moon+ is a nicer reader (and has a library which doesn't crash).
There's also an iSilo for android, but I just don't use it anymore.
There's also a great chm reader (just search for chm in the market).
As for pdf's ... exPDF wins by a MILE. Adobe just sucks for pdf's, on any platform (which is stupid, as it's their format to start with! They just can't make a half decent reader, let alone a reader worth using).
As for where to get your books: Project Gutenberg, BEan Books and any other place which publishes pdf's, epubs or pdbs.
Fbreader and Feedbooks a winning combination in my book (pun intended)
Good news for anyone wanting to read books in PDF format! Aldiko just released an update that added support for PDF, works extremely well! The whole app also got a lot better! I've been waiting for this!

Converting pdf to epub compatible with GNexus?

Hey,
I want to convert some PDFs to EPUB files so I can easily read them on my GNexus, I googled around and found Calibre, the problem is I can't find a good output that fits GNexus. The closest is the attached picture and the resolution is still wrong.
What do you guys use to convert PDFs to EPUB that makes them readable on GNexus?
Is there a way to set a custom resolution for the output EPUB file in Calibre?
Strange, I use Calibre to convert pdf and lrf to epub for reading on my nexus without any issues. I never setup any output options either, just used the default settings.
I'm using "moon reader" from the play store to read the converted books. It took some adjustment of the font settings and such to get it just the way I like it but I can say that now it's just as good as using Google play books to read books I purchased from the play store.

Calibre usually works very well. You might ask on the calibre forums http://www.mobileread.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=166

Adding epub files that reader will find?

How do I add my epub books, so the reader will find them. Actually, I don't even know if the Note 2 comes with a reader. My Note 2 doesn't arrive until Monday. On my old inspire, I had to store my digital books (epubs) in a folder called "digital editions" on the SD card for the reader to find them. Will that work on the Note 2?
I use fb reader, and have a file on my sd card for books. The reader lets you browse files so you can put them wherever.
Does the Note 2 Come with a Reader?
It seems like it would come with a built in reader, given that it's kind of a hybrid between a phone and a tablet.
Cool reader does epubs great. I use it daily

I use fb reader also. Built in file explorer works great.

I use MoonReader and it has no problem locating ePubs on either my internal memory or external SD card.
Moon reader is the best! Adilko is too overrated. With moon you can annotate and everything plus you can read .chm, cbr, cbz, pdf, etc. Almost everything. I offer Repligo for pdf though. I bought both.
