[Q] Recommendations for talking while driving - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I see this on Newegg and it looks like it could be good, anyone use this or something similar? When I first got my Note 2 I was playing with it in my car which was a bad idea and had some close calls. My Dad tried calling me while I was driving yesterday and I refused to answer it knowing that reaching into my pocket, swiping my finger across, and trying to talk while driving was a terrible idea.

thanks

I bought a suction-cup windshield holder for the Note 2 from eBay. Costed me $1.99.

Motorola Rokr S9-HD Headset

Just picked up a pair of these Moto Rokr S9 HDs from buy.com $42.58 was my total shipped, but it varies slightly from seller to seller. http://www.buy.com/prod/motorola-mo...etooth-headset-new-oem-in-bulk/211822460.html
Received them today, and I must say that I'm impressed, especially for the price. Been wanting a pair for a while. Researched them for a while before deciding on these.(had heard bad things about the S10s) They pair easily with the Epic and sound great. The hands free activates Vlingo. I rarely use that. Got them mostly for streaming music They fit snug on my average size head and are really lightweight.
Be careful
I had the same ones until they were stolen/lost. They are awesome. I now have the next version. So, I do recommend them. My point of concern is DO NOT BUY THESE FOR CHEAP ON EBAY.
The guys at work loved them for working on there days off or running on the treadmill. You don't have to fumble for your phone and they are great for music.
But, one guy at work got a pair for 25 bucks on ebay and they were FAKE. The hologram sticker was not the same and it had differences you could tell when you held two of them up close. They worked but the quality was far worse. So, be warned. I can personally confirm there are fakes out there. I would think buy.com is safe though.
+1 for the S9-HDs. Best bluetooth set I've ever owned. My cat destroyed mine and I replaced them with the S10s but they suck in comparison. not nearly the same sound and much more bulky. If you're on the fence, get the S9s.
as a note, my opinion is based strictly on music quality. I rarely use my headset for phone calls, but they both perform perfectly when I do.
I love the motorola s10-hd. I had a pair a while back with my og epic but they did not funtcion correctly so I sold them. they function 100% with epic touch though!
Ive got 4 pair for sale if anyone is interested. Brand new, factory sealed, 100% genuine. Im asking $45 shipped
I prefer the rocketfish ones. Same price

I have seen them for $20 a while ago from a legitimate on line store but can't remember. It may have been a post on Slickdeals.
I had the S9Hds, just don't sweat with them on. Eventually the buttons will stock working. 3 months and the buttons stopped working because the sweating.
I picked up a pair of the LG HBS-700's:
http://www.amazon.com/LG-HBS-700-Wireless-Bluetooth-Headset/dp/B0052YFYFK
Cannot recommend them enough. Great for running, great for office... The neck thing vibrates when you get a call, and the battery gets me through a day at work with no issues.

+1 for the LG HBS-700's The S9's always hurt my ears and the signal would cut out with the phone in my pocket.
I got them here on sale...29.99 38ish shipped

OH and the s9s hurt my head too. (medium sized head, not bulbous) So THANKS for the tip on these!
I had a pair of the previous model and they are NOT IN ANY WAY sweat-proof. A little moisture and they go haywire.
I got about 3 weeks use out of mine until the controls stopped working. Good luck and don't use them when exercising, sweat kills them fast.
i've had my S9 headset for over a year, used it with my epic and now my touch, no complaints, great sound.
Yeah, I love mine so far...

Workout case for the Gnote???

What's up guys. My note is getting delivered tomorrow and I've been looking around the internet for a workout case for my new note.
I found a thread where someone recommended an aquapac. Here's the link:
http://store.aquapac.net/explore-product-range.html
That might be fine...I used to run holding one of those big ass Sony sports walkmans that weighed about 2 lbs!
I'm not looking for anything that would need to be worn as an arm band...since the Note is freaking huge! Just something form fitting...possibly neoprene. And since I have a pair of Jaybird freedom bluetooth headphones it doesn't necessarily have to have access to the headphone jack.
Any ideas or suggestions?

lol, beyond awful
I use a pair of Panasonic RP-HSC200K as my dedicated gym buds. They're the kind that wrap around your ear so they don't fall out and can resist my gross sweat. They're flexible and can take the abuse of throwing them into my gym bag with my shoes and gear (so far). I like that style because buds like the stock one and iPod ones I have kept popping out my ear when I jog/use the elliptical and get sweaty. They cost $60 and the sound is decent in my opinion. I wasn't looking for audiophile quality considering that I knew they would be abused and soaked in sweat, lol. I didn't want to get something that I would have to worry about.
The mic integration works fine and the button to pause/skip to next song, but the volume controls don't work with my Nexus. They do on iPhone and iPods.

I tried them once I really dont like the buds they come with they are too big for my ears. I curious why they come like that my ears are not small lol. I will have to try it again today at the gym going to see how they work.

Seriously consider buying these but man I would really like good integration with Android I sold my iPod touch last year.

I lose earphones all the time, so refuse to buy the nice ones, believe it or not, those Skull Candy with mic are great, and I'm not even talking about their high end models, i bought one on sale at Staples... and honestly? For $15 (sale price), they are pretty damn impressive. Not to mention that you can use them to talk (well...this model you can).

I hear that. I carried these headphones over from when I used to have an iPhone 4 and yeah, it kind of sucks to lose that functionality.
Apparently it's difficult overall to find a pair where both volume up and down work on the in-line controls? Doesn't seem like a lot of models that are iPhone compatible work with Android as well. I dunno. I do have a pair of Skull Candy earbuds as well with mic and volume controls. I'll have to re-test it and see if it works.

If your willing to spend the $100 I HIGHLY recommend the Jaybird Freedom. They are very good. Sweat/water resistant, comfortable, bluetooth, and sound really great especially for blue tooth.
I've had mine for about 3 weeks now and I now use them more than my cans or Bose wired headset. They have nice all around sound and nice bass and I've honestly never heard blue tooth headset sound so good.
Only two drawbacks I've seen with them are the mic is a little choppy if your talking to someone (Focus on your workout, not talking ), and your going to need to wear an armband if your outside as the signal won't have walls to bounce off and will cut in and out if your phone is in your pocket.
Check them out:
http://www.amazon.com/Jaybird-Freed...8DOM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1333998241&sr=8-1
Edit: These things are easily worth the $99 price tag on Amazon. Now that I've used them and broke them in, I'd gladly pay $200 for them.
Nothing sounds better than the Bose IE2's. You'll never regret getting these.

I have these as well and wear my Jaybird freedom's when I workout because as the Bose do sound nice the wire is just a pain in the butt when working out or running. I started off wearing these when working out but that only lasted a week or two before I had to switch up to bluetooth.

I had that same problem with the wire going everywhere, until i picked up a Scosche universal armband...i have the wire running under my arm and into my shirt so it doesn't interfere with my running...and it worked out quite well.

those actually look better than mine...
I've been loving my LG HBS700 Bluetooth headphones while running. Got mine for less than $50 on amazon. They sound great and are very comfortable... really one of the best purchases I've made in the past year. The battery gets me through a day at work listening to podcasts and has plenty left for my workout after.

I appreciate everyone's input.
Unfortunately at the moment I can not spend more than I guess 50 to 60 dollars on a pair. A) cause I need to replace my windshield and B) This will be probably only to listen to music while I work out I rarely ever since myself in situations where I am listening to music while I am out and about unless I am driving I would have it plugged into my stereo.
Those Jaybirds looks so legit I wish I could get them. I think I am going to have to get the skull candy one. God I wish they didn't have the ****ty logo. Looks so high schoolish. Ugh I hate that. I probably look like so punk kid that has no respect for their elders lol.
Unless anyone else has any suggestions for something under 60 or 50. Sound quality would be nice I understand you get what you pay for.

Alternative to an armband?

I mostly row and jog, and I've found the armband makes me unbalanced because of the extra weight on one arm. Have any of y'all found an alternative to this? I would really like to listen to music through my phone, but if I can't find some alternative to an armband, I might just get one of those small clip-on iPod Nanos.
Thinking about getting a Samsung HS3000 bluetooth headphone adapter for the treadmill/wearing shorts. (thread here someplace about it.)
Ipod nano or a Sansa clip might be a more reasonable solution though.

I don't use a treadmill; I actually go running, like outdoors, so I need something to fasten the phone to my body.

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of armbands, especially w/ a phone the size of the GSIII, it would be quite cumbersome.
I've used a Tune Belt sport belt forever while working out @ the gym & running. I originally bought it for a minidisc player like 6-7 years ago but also used it for my iPod 5G & my current Nexus S in a tpu case. It's still in great shape today, no rips/tears or anything. The fact that I still use it today speaks to its durability & quality. I'm getting the GSIII soon tho & so I'll probably have to upgrade my tune belt as well, luckily they have one for large phones now.

Bluetooth headset and a plastic baggie do the trick for me. The phone goes into a pocket in my shorts and the headset lets me ff, rw, stop and play the music. Sandwich bags keep moisture from getting into the phone.
Low tech but it works.

I just don't like the phone moving around in my pocket while exercising. If it were a treadmill, I could just set the phone in the cupholder and use the clip-on Bluetooth headset people have been recommending, but I need something that will prevent the phone from moving while on my body.

This is interesting. A belt for your phone? I'll try to find one that fits the S III.
I actually started running last week and an armband works pretty fine... Before that I had a belt kinda thing but it still bounces too much and is quite annoying, an armband is pretty well fixed and when tied around the upperarm, you hardly feel it's there.
But appearantly for you it is, hmmm... Belt would be worth a try then, it's more centered I guess. Perhaps mine just didn't fit properly.
Belt Clip the way to go.
I hate the armband thing. When you flex you bicep it tightens up too much.
When I had a iPhone I used the Mareware Sportshell and loved it! It had both armband and belt clip. I only ever used the belt clip. I CANNOT find anything else like it so far for the S3.
This is the site for the SportShell: New user so I can't post it but just Google it.

Dude, take a look at shieldflow.com - it's something new that will let you hold your phone and listen to music

Searching for BT earbuds to use with G6

I'm looking for BT earbud recommendations. Either on the neck or a single in-ear solution.
Long story short: My G6 is having problems with the proximity sensor, so talking on the phone by holding the phone to my ear is difficult because the phone does not recognize when I pull the phone away from my ear. I feel that using BT for all calls would be the best solution.
With Black Friday right around the corner, it looks like there will be several choices under $40.
One model I am considering is the "SoundPEATS Q900" on Amazon, just because of the price.
I am open to suggestions and feedback.
Thank you
