Yep you are right
I just cant make the EXT3 work xD
Can't see it with Titanium Backup Pro nor with ES File Explorer
Also sevetal A2SD scripts dont work for me.. CromMod and Darktremor (or sth) dont work
only Abtekks CM7 works , it has A2SD by default, but idk how to copy it into a CM9 rom ..

Never used Abtekk custom rom so no idea.
Dont know much about a2sd too but its simple i guess. I've used kwbr rom and it has that a2sd script. I think it automatically moves apps to sd ext.

Have u already made partition of sd card via CWM ?
If yes, then install link2sd.
When u'll open it, it will ask whether which partition do you have ...... select ext3
Then reboot.
After that go to link2sd app > menu > show storage info and u'll see it.
Now how to use this
Link2sd is the first app i install on a new rom. Open > link2sd > setting > create link > automaticallly create link of all apps to sd card.
So even if u restore apps from titanium backup, newly installed apps will move to sd ext.
For a CWM partition tip, i'd say select ext4 there with swap size 0.
That's how i did it.

When we will choose which partition we need, will it format the sd card?
Yes. But only the first time it will format your sd card. That is when u r partitioning it using CWM.
After that no mather how many different roms u flash, that partition will remain.

Actually i have the same problem too with Link2sd. I found out that Link2sd doesnt move ALL the app but a part of it. ( My friend has a Samsung Galaxy 5 and he tells me that the internal storage nevers goes down!).. IT seems there is a problem with Link2sd when having android 2.3!!
I am waiting too for somebody to tell us how to manage this problem and find a solution for it!

U need a rom with data2sd if u want unlimited memory
These kind of rom requires an extra partition on the sd card...So u have to partition the sd card in order to have one fat32 partition (where ur data like music, images, etc are stored) and one EXT4 partition of 1GB for example (all the apps and apps data will be moved automatically in this ext partition)..with this u don't need to move ur apps to the sdcard with the move to sd option.
after partitioning u can flash the rom..for example this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1045824
read all the instructions in the thread, and make sure to understand how the data2sd work
K
Did you already create an ext partition on your sd card for the apps/data2sd?
Backup your SD card data to PC before start.
Boot to ClockworkMod Recovery
Use volume down button to go down to ‘advanced’.
Then press call button
.Select ‘Partition SD Card’.
Select the ext size that you want (128M, 256M, 512M, 1024M, 2048M or 4096M).
Select 0M as the Swap Size.
Copy back your data to SD card.
See if it then works

well mate,
you want to use sense3.... this sense works mostly with HD port from desireHD to desire.
there are different developer's rom presenting this into the development forum:
leedroid HD 3.3.3 r5 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1170633
there is a faq thread - howto - leedroid HD http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1226017
coolexe with http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1250815
those are the most stable rom... i could be wrong, other would correct if i m wrong.
in resume:
- root your device with unrevoked
- s-off your device (unlocked the security on bootloader) alpharev or revolutionnary could do the trick.
alpharev link => http://alpharev.nl/
bootloader resume:
Code:
the bootloader prepare you nand device to launch the system. In that purpose it would format 5 partition calles mtd.
mtd0: 00040000 00020000 "misc"
mtd1: 00500000 00020000 "recovery"
mtd2: 00280000 00020000 "boot"
mtd3: 04380000 00020000 "system"
mtd4: 04380000 00020000 "cache"
mtd5: 04ac0000 00020000 "userdata"
those modified when flashing a bootloader are system, cache and userdata in order to gain space for userdata (application)
from bootloader stock system = 250mb
cache =40 mb
userdata=147mb
from coolexe or leedroid rom it s advice to flash a bootloader called cm7r2 coz
system=145 mb
cache=5mb
userdata=287mb
those dev have been able to put a complete rom into 145 mb whilst the stock rom needs at lkeast 250mb. you understand that it would be a waste of precious mbyte space to our tiny device.
to do so they used several script to do so (data++, a2sd) it means you MUST have a partition sd card with
first fat32 (primary partition) followed by ext3 or ext4 (primary partition)
data++ uses symlink linux capabilities to point from system's folder to sd card's folder extX partition.
a2sd use linux power to forced installation app's to extX partition onto your sdcard aswell dalvikcache (it is responsible of growing amount of data when your 're looking to you internal available space).
all this have been widely explained into the faq howto thread leedroid
hope this help

however you can grab from market an app calles A2SDGUI

It doesn't really matter.
I would suggest factory reset, then installing Link2SD.Open it, and tick "Auto link".Then install all apps you need, and you're fine.
By the way, that internal storage information from phone is not correct.
For example, I have 50 apps installed with 30mb free internal storage. Then I delete one app (2mb), and the phone shows 50mb free. So, it's not correct.Don't know why, but that's the way Link2SD works.I got used to it.
Anyway, if you have Class 6 or up sdcard, then I'd suggest using data2sd, otherwise, stick with Link2SD.

how can you tell what class sd card your using plz ?
I would also recommend S2E, like asdot said earlier.
It is in my opinion the easiest and best solution when you are using CM (7 or 9, both work).
Just install it from the market.
And it is true, if you have a slow SD card I would not use data2sd. The app S2E gives you the option to move apps only, not their data. I use that option and have a very fast phone with basically endless memory

Hey guys,
I'm using Android 2.3.5 with Sense 2.1 (stock rom) and added Link2SD to my rooted phone some time ago. At first I was glad I had about 50mb of internal storage left after I moved all (!!!) linked every app to my SD-card. I don't know how, but the internal storage shrinked more and more and now I'm left with 10mb of free storage and that annoying message, that I'm running out of memory. I tried some cache cleaning apps but I just don't know what's eating up all of my memory!
Any ideas?
greetings
Link2sd leaves stuff in internal memory. My little wfs became a wonderful phone after I s-offed and rooted it, but then installed some custom roms, and some of which had A2SD built in. I installed all my apps and still had 75mb of free memory.
I am currently running CM9, and I used a custom script to move my apps and cache to my SD card. I have 123 MB of memory now. It's terrible

I don't know much about Link2SD, as i could never get it to work, but... I'm thinking if you move everything back to internal memory, and uninstall the startup scripts that mount the SD card, you should be able to run the scripts I used. I would make a full backup of my ROM before trying anything like that though. Ya never know...
You can try the following.
1. Go to link2sd. Clear cache, relink lib files and multi select anf link all.
2. Get titanium backup and integrate davlik cache into rom.
3. Enable auto link in link2sd.
4. Reboot.
Im using link2sd wid a lot of apps and have internal storage 60+ mb all the time.
Also uninstall any crap system apps you dont use because they'll just fill the internal memory.

This was irritating so i switched back to my Stock rom by CWM using Backup & restore. Now im glad to be back on my stock rom without all other problems but the problems of LOW INTERNAL MEMORY.
Is there really any way that i can properly install Link2Sd and make space free and have hell lot of apps just as i had when i was on CM10 ???

Hi buddy...I had installed CM10 on my HTC wildfire & used Link2SD which was working good for the internal memory and applications part but had its own loops of data connection getting lost in between and wake up problem.

First flash eoghan's kernel on stock ROM which enables using of different scripts and link2SD..then partition SD card and flash the script or use link2SD as always..
And make sure you have a backup..
P S Instead of flashing the above you can also install crossfire's stock ROM or other stock based ROMs which have init.d support I.E you can partition SD card and install scripts and other stuff... Your options are Kimsmod ultimate, Wildchild or crossfire's stock ROM.

Hey guys,
I'm using Android 2.3.5 with Sense 2.1 (stock rom) and added Link2SD to my rooted phone some time ago.
Any ideas?
greetings

LINK2sd does not transfer app data to sd card....so when u use apps and they generate data and cache..it fills up your internal storage...i had the same problem.
i suggest you to use Int2ext script by cronmod...thy are fantastic!

You terrible WRONG!!! Link2SD do the job correctly, learn it! and Internal Storage remains unused-free! When link an app, in Storage Info looks Internal Storage raised but when you make Quick Reboot Internal Stoage seems like a nothing get in there! |So! I search for days to finaly suffix the best to free Internal Storage without any mod file|
I make Factory data reset and device come back with ~30mb Internal Storage, i partition sd card and install Link2SD, mount 2nd partition. Install any app, Create link Quick Reboot and go on!!
Best Regards
XDA DEVELOPERS
There is something better than Link2sd
Something better is called [INT2EXT] and it has requirements:
1.Init.d Supported in ROM
2.SD Card Partition
how to install:
1.Wipe everything and
2. Re-partition SD Card
3. Re-flash ROM
4. Install the zip using CWM
to download the scripts (INT2EXT) please head here
Do not forget to press Thanks

Format your sdcard after backing up. Or use some partition manager. This should be in Q&A for future reference.

Link2SD Concept
Yes I also don't understand the concept of link however I have read much abt it online....
Can any1 tell me when I link an app to my ext3 partion, the similar contents that are in my internal memory gets stored in my ext3 partion....so if I try delete the original delvix file from internal memory why does the app force close even though I have same delvix file in my ext3 partion....
Please help me understand this?

What space? Dont use ext3, it will slow Ur phone. Use ext4. U need minitool partition home edition.
Data2sd has this problem U cant recover the partition to use with other roms. One back up can be used with that rom only. But U can recover via titanium backup. The main advantage with data2sd is U can install a game which is suppose 200mb. which U can never install by link2sd. as it will show low memory error.
If U want to use link2sd use odex version, it has 120mb user space.
I have ext3 partion by my phone runs preety fast bt can u please tell me how to remove ext3 partion from my memory card?

HI,
My htc wildfire s is a year old but I didn't managed to get much r&d on it.
I am new to cynogenmod just heard about it. So will cynogenmod help me unistalling unwanted applications from the rom of htc wildfire s which I never use?
Or is there any other way by which I can uninstall unwanted applications which were given by the manufacturer(htc) ?
As htc wildfire s always fires same line "memory low clear some data:crying: "

if your phone is rooted you can unistall as many apps you want,no matter its stock or downloaded.but be carefull about them.
like you can delete maps, youtube, email, news etc. by many apps or with emulator.
i deleted them by link2sd.it also works.
but if your is rooted you can have much memory with many tweaks like link2sd,mounts2sd,int2ext+ .

will search for link2sd and others you mentioned.
And will see how they do it .
thank you, :fingers-crossed:
Got a msg while I was removing facebook application.
Failure
Link2SD could not obtain root access.
If you have root access make sure you respond 'Allow' or 'Grant' to the superuser request.

you installed link2sd then first you have partition your sd card and also give it superuser permission.
you can directly go to superuser app and you can see link2sd there, allow permission then it ll work fine.
if you want to then transfer your app to your sd-ext partition(which you have created on your sdcard) then choose mount script like ext2/3/4 you can see options.then app ll move.
or if you wana use link2sd as only stock app deleting app, just cancel that dialogue box and go further.

ok ,
can i partition the drive with link2sd only or i will need another app to do that ?
You cn partition with cwm recovery or minipartition tool.
You cnt partition with any app.
Download minipartition tool and install it on ur computer.
Then partition your sd card following
Fat32 remaining space
Ext3 1 gb
Linux swap 512 mb
All partitions should be primary.
Then when u opened link2sd it ll ask fr mount partition, then choose ext3 and done.restart ur phn..after u cn link ur apps to ext partition which u created.
