How to get Sim-Toolkit out of .sbf firmware ? - Defy General

I have Motorola Defy MB525 red lens.
Have tried many different android versions to get SimToolkit to work with Estonia Mobiil-ID idetification system.
No luck with Cm7 and Miui and Cm9 and Wiui and Cm10.
At the end I got blank screen and installed this Fixed Chinese SBF
JORDN_U3_97.21.51.sbf
from this instructions:
[GUIDE] All-in-One Defy Beginner's guide
Method 2: (BIG thanks to Jebrew again for this one)
NOTE: You are going to need CM7 for this one. CM7 Stable version recommended.
Download this SBF and Flash it.

And with this rom I see SimToolkit menu and it works, shows menu at least !!
But this is locked or smth and I get no mobile signal, red cross on the mobile network.
Can I get this Sim-Toolkit out from there?
I unpacked it with MotoAndroidDepacker and got files ending with .smg
How to get STK.apk out from there ?

[Q] CM7 nightly doubts.

Few n00b questions.
Firstly, how do i flash a nightly on my phone? lets say im running ofw 2.2 SEA edition? Do i follow the same procedure as if to flash RC1... do i also need to flash gapps similarly.
Secondly, are the links on quarxs' CM7 for defy thread up-to-date? or are there newer versions of gapps and nightlies floating around somewhere
Third, i have noticed that there is an issue with network and wi-fi when i flash cm7 RC1 over the nordic sbf. when i go back to official 2.2 SEA there is no hassle at all. Since i live in india i was wondering if that was the issue. I can easily take care of the network problem using "baseband switcher for defy" but it still doesnt help the wi-fi problem.
My question is.. will using the new BOOTSEA nightly solve this problem. I am assuming from the name is boot"SEA" im assuming its built southeastasia specific.
Fourth, ive used CM7 RC1 for a while and apart from the wifi issue i got problems with camera and video... it absolutely doesnt work, wether it be in potrait or landscape or whatever setting... the app just force closes. Any fixes for that.. ive got green lens.
please help!!! and i hope other similar questions can be added by members here so as to make this thread an FAQ for distressed users like me.
Thanks

--> I'd say install RC1 and gapps first, then try a nightly by just wiping cache and Dalvik - no need to install gapps again since they're on your phone now. If you install a BOOT version and want to go back to an earlier CM7 nightly, then you might want to start from scratch, reflash froyo and install RC1 + gapps again.
Secondly, are the links on quarxs' CM7 for defy thread up-to-date? or are there newer versions of gapps and nightlies floating around somewhere
--> mostly up to date, but I don't worry about gapps too much as I believe that the Market gets updated automatically anyway (but I might be wrong about that). On the OP, the link to the gapps should show you up to date versions; but read the comments on there - very important.
Third, i have noticed that there is an issue with network and wi-fi when i flash cm7 RC1 over the nordic sbf. when i go back to official 2.2 SEA there is no hassle at all. ---> same here my wifi DL speed was really bad for the last month or so on CM7; only after BOOT179-4 install, my wifi speed somewhat got back to normal.
Fourth, ive used CM7 RC1 for a while and apart from the wifi issue i got problems with camera and video... it absolutely doesnt work, wether it be in potrait or landscape or whatever setting... the app just force closes. Any fixes for that.. ive got green lens.
---> My camera and video worked on RC1 (and earlier) but video recording had some chopiness at times. Around July 11th nightly, Quarx released a camera fix (in that nightly) that solved the problem for me. But then days later, on newer nightly builds, I got the FC problem on video camera (same as you but red lens here). Then with BOOT179-4, camera was fine again and so the wifi speed; so all good for me.
--------> I really don't know what's going on with the video camera: many poeple have problems and many have it working on every nightly builds. It has been a problem from day one for Quarx on CM7-jordan... You have to try and see which build works for you I guess. And like you said, BOOT-SEA definitely looks like something you should try - many people liked it and many people say yesterday nightly is the best for them so far... so go on and have fun with testing
---> Before you do more testing though, you can always do a backup from the custom recovery so it will be easy for you to restore your current phone state -if nothing improves. I do this all the time: stock recovery factory reset, nordic flashing, RC1 install then restore my (BOOT179-4 now) backup.
Please help!!! and i hope other similar questions can be added by members here so as to make this thread an FAQ for distressed users like me.
---> I did try to help - I hope I did! If so, you can use that "Thanks" button - hehe!
---> Not sure that a thread entitled "nightly doubts" will become a very popular
FAQ thread though

i went thru the whole FAQ but my doubts are regarding the nightlies which it doesnt address hence the thread.
thx for the concern though.
downloaded the BOOTSEA, but there is another file "cm7-110726-0018-BOOTSEA-Jordan.zip.md5sum" mentioned below it. ( there are similar md5sum files for all nightlies...) are they essential ? and how do i use them.
wanted to clarify before proceeding.

Md5 files are to verify your download is not corrupted one. Which you can compare the md5 after downloading the zip file and regenerating the md5 of downloaded file and check against the one in the server.

No problem.
Go read here on the official CM7-jordan thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1033654&page=943
And from post 9429 particularily; pretty much goes in the same direction I was pointing at regarding the wifi and video camera...
How's the BOOTSEA doing for you?
The nightly ones is just the output that the ones who are working on the rom ups to us. Normally have all that part on topic that say "next version:..."
If you wanna try the nightly one, use as the *.zip that you download when got the "rc1 v2" for exemple. So wipe the phone, choose install from a zip of the sdcard and choose the *.zip, been it the rc1 or the nightly build.
The md5sum file is the one that contains the 5sum from the file. Its nornaly given when you have to download a big file and have fear to corrupt the file. If you use linux, go on terminal and type "5sum file" when file is the name of any file that you have. It will give you a big number. This is the 5sum. The *.md5sum have the 5sum of the respective *.zip nightly rom.

Defy user wanting Defy+ stock ROM

Hi there, forgive me if this is out there somewhere in the forums, i've had a look and i'm getting a bit lost
With the new of the Defy+ came out i guess there is no official 2.3 update for the Defy ?
But as time goes on , has someone got an official or original defy+ stock rom that i can flash on my regular defy ?
I don't really like custom roms with others personalisations i'd like what a defy+ owner gets out of the box, but withut having a defy+ he he!
Many thanks
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1285007
4.5.1-134walter from the link above, i installed this yesterday to my Defy (old) and am very impressed battery much better and feels a lot more stable no crashes yet as with my old sock 2.2.2 was crashing at least 3 times a day.
djc
+1 from me too! i had ms2ginger on mine and it was too buggy + battery died quickly. just put the defy+ one on as above and it seems much better so far! just need to get on my wlan at home to fully sync my facebook contacts etc to see how well that works.
only thing I have found so far that isnt quite as good is the panorama mode, on ms2ginger the panorama has a display at the bottom so you know how far to turn, this one doesnt it just makes a ping noise and takes the picture. can make the panorama a bit blury as you dont know when to stop turning! hopefully the app can be ripped out of the newer wrong and ported back.
Thanks Everyone! I think i'm going to give this a try now!

Roll back
Hi folks!
After flash with this rom, I will be able to roll back to 2.2.1 - 3.4.2?
Yes take a nandroid backup of your current 2.2.1 and keep safe then install the 2.3.4 nandroid and fixed sbf, dont install full sbf or will have trouble going back.
You can always go back to your backup if you dont install full sbf

Yep! I did, but I doesn't have any 3G/HSDPA connection , all carrier access points confs are empty, I will have to do by hand or have another way?
Try baseband switcher and choose your region/country in it. I had similar issue after flashing this rom but could fix it.

this is the nandroid back up of the dfp 231 retail cee nandroid. It was done on defy greenlense with cwm 4.5.3-109 fixed sbf via cwm.zip courtesy of walter79,hence the only nandroid of this version does not have deodexed framework or apps, well this one does, the only issue is that these packages where extracted and pushed ttrough adb shell and guess what the frame and apps from ggl rom(courtesy of adi4motion) boot normally and keeps the initial rom properties except you get the ics fancy transitions from ggl rom and app specific properties(like zipalign, etc)

Great Job
I have following device:
Model Number: MB526
Android Version: 4.0.4
Baseband Version EPU93_U_00.59.01
Kernel Version: 2.6.32.9-ge281b6e
CyanogenMod version
9-20120613-NIGHTLY-jordan
Camera not working, error message is:
can not connect to camera
Is it possible to flash your nandroid somehow and have the camera working?
Pls let me know, any support is highly appreciated. I also can not differentiate between red and green lense just by looking at it. Had a look through the forum, but found a lot of differentiating posts that a MB 525 can be also a MB 526 and visa versa.
Looking to your reply.

if your defy is an real mb525 with a stock mb526 full sbf flashed, its posible to have a dead camera, yes try this nand and if your camera works then you have a red lense defy(bayer camera) and flash walter79 fixed sbf via cwm(gb kernel)if its still not working it means your camera module is soc(green lense)and for that i have another version of this rom(untouched, litlle tweaks)that works seamingless with green lense camera module:good:

probably it should work,it contains a special boot.img(also seen in ggl rom by adi4motion)wich contains froyo kernel and bl6 or 7 signature wich allows the rom to boot with the froyo kernel(necesarly for the soc camera module)definately you should try this rom but first do a full backup of your current system in case it fails you should have your phone restored with no data loses, then do a full data factory reset from cwm and wipe cache, restore boot.img,devtree.img,system.img and go advanced then wipe dalvik cache and batery stats, reboot and fingers crossed to boot

Wiko Jimmy Flash Stock Rom

Can anyone help me out flashing this device please?
I tried to install chainire 3d drivers and now my device is bootlooping.... I searched for a solution but I need a secound opinion
:crying:
Hi, as this is a international site I will speak in english for other users too. While I haven´t flashed the Wiko you can download the stock rom and make a recovery. Just google wiko jinny rom and you´ll have the list of stock roms ( as is my first post I can´t put links )
If before the bootloop you made a backup of the system, better. Just go to recovery and restore.
I guess you bought it in Box Jumbo store. The Wiko Jimmy seems to be a pretty standard android device and beside the irritating launcher when out of box ( with double tap icons and voice ) just do a factory reset and you´ll get a mostly stock android rom.
I rooted mine with kingo root and it identified as a HTC Dream (!!!) so try at your own risk with roms for this model.
