Facebook contact pic updating

I can't seem to get facebook contact pictures to update in the people/contacts app. The facebook pictures populated in contacts when first setup, but loads of my contacts have updated their facebook profile pics since and they just won't update on my Desire no matter what I do. I've sync'd, removed facebook, relinked contacts etc no joy. Anyone know how to make this update?

I am having the same problem. Anyone able to help?

Same here only way I can update is deleting the sync and re syncing.

This is well documented on here guys as something that needs fixing. The only way to get the pics updated is to remove your facebook account and then re-add it.
Various people I beleive have aready emailed HTC (including myself) about this problem.

I have the exact same issue though about 2 weeks ago I noticed one of my contacts pictures had updated on my phone without me doing anything but it was only the 1 from what I can see and don't know what makes that one different from the rest

I tried it and removed the FB account and also the FB app but after adding them back it won't load any FB contacts at all!!
The app works fine and the account show like it syncs but in contacts when i choose which ones to show it just says: facebook (0)
What gives?

help me with pictures of facebook

so i have now oxygen gingerbread and the pictures dont sync like it was on froyo
so i download the app "syncmypix" and it should have done the job but again it only did the job for 50 pictures out of 560 people
so i need another app
so...
can someone give a good app that does the job properly????

The Facebook app works fine, I've been using it for a while now and have their FB profile pics as contacts (even changes when they change theirs on FB). You just have to make sure you have BOTH the facebook app AND your accounts and sync settings turned on and set to sync all contacts. If the names dont match up from FB with your contacts 100% it wont auto associate them, and you have to do it manually. Once you associate the FB and contact, it will use the FB pic by default (which sux cause if you have google contact pics setup, it still favours FB's).. If for some reason you have the contacts sync'd and it still isnt showing up, edit the contact, long press there FB profile pic under there FB Profile portion, and choose Use this photo.
Edit: BTW when I first went through and merged ALL my conacts from google/Facebook/Yahoo, I was using Oxygen as my main ROM.. I just started using the CM7 Nightlies ~16, but once you get it all setup, it now sync's properly EVERYTIME I reflash... and it took beautifully when I switched from Oxygen to CM7.. no probs whatsoever

Google Contacts drives me nuts!!!!

I could not manage my contacts between my device, my google contacts and my google+ account in a proper way such as merging the duplicates and showing/hiding the contacts that I want.
Serously.. Google should simplify it with couple of clicks only!!!

I'm sorry but i don't understand so much what's the problem with the contact management ?
You can't merged them together or that's not sync with your others devices ?

When I signed up in Google+, Google+ created a new list in Google Contacts. It shows an option to merge my Google Plus contacts with my current contacts, I clicked yes! Guess what? I got merged contacts but with duplications!! So I decided to clean up the mess, Google didn't implement any unmerege option. WTH, also it messes my contacts in my phone.
So I need now to delete the contacts and build up the contacts again from scratsh.
I will try to export the contacts, fix them. Then, import them to Google Contacts again.

I believe you can unmerge them via google+ settings in the app itself or via setting-accounts and sync. Tap on your gmail account and uncheck sync google+

And if you try to work directly (for this time only to clean up) on the web version, to use the "find & merge the duplicates" ? And/Or use the backup into the Contact too
I didn't have the problem when G+ was implemented into Gmail =/ it's weird that's happen

You can Join & Unjoin contacts in the People app.

you can edit your google contacts by visiting
google.com/contacts
this helps out by cleaning up duplicates and is easier than just doing over the phone.

Problem is the sync is one way, from gmail to android, not from Android to gmail. If I have a phone number on Android it doesnt show up on gmail. Why oh why?

I don't know... I've honestly never had any of these issues. My contacts work perfect.

I've never seen that issue myself.... sync works both ways.. always.

Man that would make life so easy, I had to do this to bring my phone numbers to gmail:

SO I take it any contact as long as it is not facebook and skype or whatsapp or twitter will sync with gmail contacts.

i also noticed contacts are a bit difficult, i almost lost all my contacts..
but i just leave them as they are and sometimes see i do need to adjust or merge one, but i aint touching them anymore.

Google COnTACTS has option : click MORE an then RESTORE CONTACTS
A menu opens where you can choose time to restore to (1 h ago, a day ago...)

[Q] Facebook Sync Issues

For whatever reason the photos from facebook are not syncing with my contacts. Prior to upgrading to ICS it was working fine through Samsung Social Hub. Now no one in my phone has a photo next to them.
Is anyone else experiencing this issue? I have sync'd all through the facebook app and there's now no option to sync contacts through social hub app. Any help is appreciated.

Im having the same issue
I used to do it through the Social Hub, and when i'd actually install the official facebook app, I'd select "Don't sync contacts" b/c Social Hub did it fine, and the facebook app would always distort the pics a little bit
but now I had this problem like you do
I tried to sync through the facebook app itself, but that doesn't seem to be working either oddly enough
somehow both have stopped working

sphogat - I'm on the same page with you. It's not just facebook either it's LinkedIn as well. I hope someone has a fix.

I had this problem with stock ICS but I flashed darkside today and it seems to be resolved.

mjg688 - which darkside ROM did you flash?

try ds3 v1
I have the latest darkside ics and syncs just fine after installing FB cleanly and turning on the sync as well

To fix this:delete facebook accounts from phone and restart, then re add account. Worked great for me

Sync FB contact in JB

I have this question, in ICS when i install the facebook app, its ask me to sync my contacts in with facebook (the existing, i mean the contacts in my phone to update with fb photo, info, etc) but in jellybean i cant, i see the account there, i turned on the sync option, but it doesnt do anything.
Someone know what to do?

The functionality has been deliberately disabled by Facebook. There was something of a controversy about it back when it happened. So, yeah. Not happening anymore.

Contact sync for facebook in the play store. Try that out.

I use Friendcaster and it syncs the contacts pretty well. I started using it when Facebook upgraded to 2.0 and kept having network errors. The contact sync was just a plus.
