I have a Galaxy s3 for tmobile with jellybean and I dont know why but every time I try to go to facebook mobile ( using any browser ) it takes a lot of time for it to load, but if i go to google or any other pages it loads amazingly quick. So i dont know the problem but i read problems with data is because my mobile network is set to lte/gsm/wcdma ( auto mode) and obviously i know tmobile dont have lte but my question is should i change the mobile network to wcdma only or should i keept it how it is ? thank you for your time
The mobile page for Facebook is slow...is there a reason your not using the app? The wcdma is default...if you change it from what I hear it will revert back to wcdma again.

Before the Facebook Mobile page used to load very quickly for me... But About a week ago it started loading very slowly.. And I hate using the fb app. It loads slow over data.

I have noticed the Facebook page loads really slow on the browser. Started happening not too long ago. Have started using the app instead. I hated using the app before but the latest update seems to be working really well

The new fb app was completely revamped and written with native components instead of a shell to render html5 like in prior version. By going native, it is way faster now. Give the app a try.
If one site is slow while other sites are quicker using the same browser, I don't know why people blame it on the mobile network instead of the slow site. Just a thought.

very true... thank you all ill give the app a try once more

I updated and it seems a lot better. I use Trillian so not worried about chat.
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
Ya I agree its A LOT better haha seems like the rerouting to browser was fixed also. But ya I use AIM for fb chat also but it would just be nice to have it intergrated like the iphone FB app (=

omg please yes.
Yep rerouting to the browser was my biggest complaint. I don't use FB chat, and Places is gay.
This update reminds me of facebook for iphone. I feel at home again.

But now instead of your shack you live in a... Smart Mansion. Lmao, Yeah i feel like we are making progress with android now that are consumer base is almost if not bigger than iOS
I downloaded it, and it still doesn't compare to the iPhone's Facebook app, but I guess its a step in the right direction

FB Places and Groups are junks. they take spaces on the screen for absolutely no use because I dont even care to use those feautes. Wish i can disable them and make them disappear for good.
can you guys tell me what size your facebook apk is on your phone? Mine is ringing in at a whopping 1,29GB with 1.08MB (before the update) as the Application and 1.29GB listed as data. Clearing data does nothing for the size. Just seems way out of whack IMO.
guys, my stock browser just stopped functioning .. any idea whats happenning ? Im using stock froyo and unrooted. It just doesnt load anything, not even google. Ive checked my mobile internet service, youtube, facebook , twitter, gmail .. everything works fine except browser. Helppp!! !

Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
apparently the stock browser works on wifi.. :O
is it my telco's issue ?
I've tried facebook, gmail, twitter, youtube, literally everything that requires mobile data .. everything works cept browser, that's why I rulled out the probability of my mobile internet having issue. It seems that I'm wrong .. D:
anyhow.. should I just wait then ?
It wouldn't hurt to call them up and see if there is a problem on their end that could be causing this. How long has this been going on? It might just be a network problem if this just started.

called em up, the customer care consultant said there was nothing wrong with their service at the moment :/
Anyone notice that the FB mobile site has gone from looking pretty much like the App to looking like the old text based mobile site. :/
Either the mobile site is not recognising the Nexus as a HD smartphone, or else its an effort to push all android mobile site users onto the new app.
Changed about 2 weeks ago around the time the 1.9 update for the app came out.
Yeah i noticed it, now i cant post photos on a status update trhoug chrome... this is lame i dont want to use the facebook app...
Just logged into the mobile site and it seems like it's back to normal now.

Is anyone else having issues with the Facebook app? It extends to every Facebook related application including Friendcaster as well as sharing to Facebook from Instagram.
The issue is one of the inability to access any Facebook information while using my data connection. If I switch to wifi it works flawlessly.
Any Ideas?
Yep having the same problem...glad to see its not just me

I'm running AOKP build 40. Aerovans 10.5 kernel. Confirmed not working on the FB app and BARELY working on mobile web.

Also, I've noticed that if I don't kill the FB app it ends up sucking up 75MB of RAM and hogs the CPU

I'm running Aeroevan's cm9 with the v10 kernal. It happens with sense roms as well... I have got seesmic to work properly over 3g but i had to turn on wifi to get it to connect to Facebook initially.

Same here. CM9 aero v10.
Using Stream, it's very slow if it does work at all.
Seems to work ok through wifi though.
I thought it was just me also. lol
I would love to see one of our devs jump on this and fix the damn app in minutes lol
Sent from my Incredible 2 using xda app-developers app
Glad it's not just me having issues, I've tried every rom I got to get the fb app to load, if I'm on 3g ill get a few kb of data to transfer, then nothing I gave up and am using friendcaster, it's running as of now

I'm having the same issue on both my DINC2 and my Nook Color. Not having the issue on my Original DINC. The Facebook app will login and I can upload photos/comment on photos/comment on statuses, but I can't update my own status or post on someone's wall. It says "Unfortunately, Facebook has stopped" anytime I try to update my status. Very frustrating.
I can't login to Spotify, Foursquare, Instagram, or any other app that is linked to my account. I can't even login on Friendcaster. It just sticks in a login loop. On my Nook I'm able to login to Draw Something but that's it. (I know this is the DINC2 forum, I just wanted to throw that in there...)
I don't know how to tell the kernel version. Here is my phone info.

It has to be the Facebook mobile site servers because if you request desktop site it's fast. Facebook app has even gone to **** on my iPod touch

It's not a matter of being slow, though. Unless I am on wifi I cannot access it at all... also, apps that require permissions from Facebook (ie. Instagram, foursquare etc) won't be able to access Facebook to get the proper permissions unless I am on wifi.

OK so I'm guessing its either the ****ty FB servers or our custom roms.....I'm thinking its the FB servers
Sent from my Incredible 2 using xda app-developers app
Its not the ROM's - definitely a Facebook issue.
I am pretty sure they are trying to figure out a way to serve mobile ads thru the server similar to the desktop. It cant be a server issue, its Facebook - lol.
They can more than afford and service high quality servers.
I dont use the app on my phone (or my tablet) anymore cause it took up a lot of space even while 'dormant'. I found three processes running at one time.

Oddly, I found a Rom that the Facebook app works on. Andybones stock Rom works flawlessly.

Possible solution. Go to your security settings in facebook on a computer, Remove all of your recognized devices, clear data on the facebook app. Log back in. FB on 3g is working for me right now. We'll see.

I quit using the official fb app awhile ago, but recently I installed it again and I changed the permission to user r/w, and executable in rom toolbox and It's been about 6hrs now and it seems like it's running fine, probably got figured out on fb side and what I did probably meant nothing but figure I'd share anyway

Everything else on the phone works fine, but the Facebook app crashes multiple times a day.
I have to go to the home screen and then recent apps and swipe it away to get it working again. Sometimes even that doesn't work, and I have to go to the task manager and end the task before it'll work. Any ideas why?
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
its application's fault, not your note 2.... official facebook app has been known to crash very frequently
One of the more stable versions is 2.0, I use that but to be honest I in some ways prefer the website alternative. Bookmark the Facebook site in your browser, add a shortcut to this on your home screen and it's a somewhat better way to use Facebook. I was getting annoyed with it being so slow and running in the background so much. Each to their own though!
