I'm running the stock Jelly Bean ROM from AT&T on my SGH-I747. It's rooted, with an lower DPI setting, but is otherwise unaltered.
The 'Best games of 2012" and such have really shown that a lot of apps are incompatible with my phone. Yesterday I opened up the "Top games of 2012" section in Play, and it only listed 1 game. I'm assuming this had to do with the rest in the list being hidden due to incompatibility.
For an example, the games listed as the "Best of 2012" only shows "Naught" on my phone. All the rest (THE BARD'S TALE, NUN ATTACK, GRANNY SMITH, ZOOKEEPER BATTLE, DEVIL'S ATTORNEY, STRIKEFLEET OMEGA, NEED FOR SPEED: MOST WANTED, SHADOWGUN: DEADZONE, FUNKY SMUGGLERS, HAMLET, and SUBWAY SURFERS) are marked as incompatible.
I have to believe this is something wrong with the way the market is ID'ing my phone. Can anyone help me solve this?

Click the the little plus next to where it says it incompatible. The play store might think you're in a different country where the app can't be sold.

Do you otherwise have any other problems with it? Connections? Force close?

It doesn't mention anything about WHY.
Also, it seems ridiculous that the little LG phone that I use just got Google Music at my desk can run this app, but my SGS3 can't...

Just tossing this in, but my i747m shows as compatible with that game.
If you have changed your DPI setting, then it can affect the compatibility of the apps in the Play Store. Change it back to stock, reboot, clear data for play store, and try again.
Damnit. But I like my DPI settings! Is there no way to trick the market to not take the DPI settings into consideration?

Not that I know of, but once you download the apps you want, you can change it back. I also know that there are some very specific steps you can take to change the DPI AFTER the Play Store checks it and it won't do this. I'll see if I can dig them up. (I think it was in AOKP when trying to change DPI, it would give you steps).
Switch to a paranoid android ROM and you can change your DPI and not have that problem. Other than that, you have to fix your DPI for it to work.

As an update, I know the steps are shown when you change DPI in the AOKP settings. Don't feel like flashing it just to find them though so maybe someone can give them to you who already has it installed?

Idk if it would help, but in the skyrocket forums we have a multi-dpi play store.
Maybe someone here could look into creating one as well.
I know that doesn't help much, b/c you shouldn't flash things for other devices.. but just a thought!
Here is a thread I found in the S2 forums (from a google search):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1839871
Searching for "S3" results in:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/search.php?searchid=119262249
There are a couple users stating that it does work for their S3's
You could make a backup, and try it out.
If it doesn't work, just restore
I switched my DPI back to 320, and cleared the data on the Play app, and all is well now. I wish there was a way to trick the market without having to install a custom ROM.
Oh well. Thanks for your help everyone!

I'm not sure if this has been talked about or not.
I tried to search & came up empty.
I recently switched from EC05 Bonsia to CleanGB MTD.
I am trying to put the finishing touches on rebuilding the phone & when I tried to used SamsungApps it wouldn't connect, says no network connection.
Does this program no longer work under Gingerbread?
Or is there a newer version?
I restored a backup from EC05 (I know BAD!!) that's all I had for that app.
Looking at Samsung's site it looks like the Epic is no longer supported.
Anyone have any input
just keep trying, i had the same issue. and it worked on wed.

Thanks, you were right. I had been trying for a few days before I posted & it finally picked up this morning & wanted to update. Now it works fine.
Are you guys getting a bunch of what looks like full games in there but they say for SGSII only? I wonder if there is anyway to get those running...
Does anyone have the apk for the SamsungApps that works for our phone?

Yes, I can see several I'd like to try, but it wil not download them because it says for SGS2 only.
The game is in the market for the Epic so if there is a way to get it to start the download they should work, I would think. Samsung wants everyone to get the new product.
Anyone have any ideas on how to trick the SamsungApps into downloading these?

Ok, got it.....
I pulled the apk out of my phone, I am running CleanGB MTD 1.0.3 & the apk just updated, so it should be current.
I hope this helps ya......
Thanks, I actually had that apk but it wasn't working. So I thought maybe someone had a different one. Turned out I was just being dense and was trying to install it on CM7 and it wasn't working. Once I switched to another ROM it worked. Thanks again!
Angry birds & Seasons, and Riptide are full add free versions.
NFS Shift and Bejewled are 60minute trials (lame). Post if you find any more full titles.
As for the sgs2 games, I'm thinking a build.prop hack might allow those to install but I haven't had time to try yet. Basically just like how a bunch of us got 50gig box accounts for "LG phones"

Dead Space is a full version game too.
I've been playing it & it's pretty good.
Graphics are unbelievable!!!!!
I'll have to learn how to do the build.prop so I can try to make that work....
has anyone noticed that with the recent ICS leaks that alot of apps that were compatible with our phone are not now. On 4.0.3 leaks i could still get apps of the market, on the 4.0.4 leaks i can't. Example directv, on market says not compatible, walgreens app says not compatible. They were before, now they not. I have the apps in my dropbox so no biggie, but was just wondering if there is that much difference between 4.0.3 & 4.0.4 that would make apps not compatible anymore.

That is a good observation Isaac.
I'm willing to bet that the apps check the build version that is written into the build.prop file. I'm not having issues but if someone is and knows how to edit their build.prop file maybe change this line back to 4.0.3 to see if it works:
ro.build.version.release=4.0.4
Well, after backing up their rom first of course.
Edit: FYI, do not edit build.prop unless you know what you're doing. The system may not boot if this file is edited incorrectly.

Have you changed your dpi or installed a ROM that does? I am running AOKP latest and have no problem using Play Store Market apps. Perhaps open settings, manage apps, play store, clear cache then reboot?

Forgot about this too, 240dpi is the default setting.
Maybe that's it. My dpi is set to 215

If you change the dpi from 240, that will explain your problem. Change it back, clear Play cache, reboot. Should work fine.

Different devices have different dpi and that is part of what Play Store checks. Example: if I change my dpi to under 190, 128 specially, Google will display tablet apps. So, if your dpi doesn't match the phone that Google detects, it breaks.
In the Tablet mode ui thread, there is a hacked Play Store that automatically reports your dpi as 240 so that it doesn't break.
Yea changing the dpi back fixed it

I'm running Jellybomb, didn't have the problem in the past: just started recently.
Almost everything I try to get says "Your device is not compatible with this version." Hell, I can't even get most apps to even show up on a search in the Play Store; I actually have to use a hyperlink to even get them to show up. (Doesn't matter, free or paid, Btw)
Anyone experienced this, or know a fix?

what DPI are you running at? i ran into a similar problem on one of the tablet note 2 roms, and the only way i found to fix it was to use Xposed and resize play store to 320 dpi and a lower res.
WI'll definitely give that a shot. (I honestly need to check the DPI...I'd bet it's not 240 or 320, and probably is the issue.)
Edit: Actually tried both; 240 fixed it to where I could at least search for everything, but still only install some; 320 fixed it completely.
Thanks again...

It's blocked on the Play Store for some reason, but it works fine when installed. You can download it from a site like this: http://apps.evozi.com/apk-downloader/?id=com.ea.games.r3_row
Nothing illegal or virus..just downloads the apk file from a given Google Play link

Thanks much, I figured I could get it from another resource but I'm unsure why some apps I am unable to find.
It isn't a deal breaker, this smartphone is aces and I just wanted to see how some apps I'm familiar with run on the G3.
Because they have not allowed them to run on 640dpi the qhd screen ... they need to update apps .... they will usually run fine except for some gps apps

I searched it up and it shows up but there is an banner that tells me that it isn't compatible. (I'm from Germany, so the message was in German)
I downloaded GT Racing instead and installed. I was just trying to see if I could tax the G3 a bit with talk about the device overheating.
Well I played it for awhile and besides it being drop dead gorgeous and running great, no overheat warning.
