So i changed lcd density in build.prop and most of the system apps work fine but some are still in 240 density mode somehow:

If you are rooted and running a custom ROM.. check Pimp My ROM in app store... it is a very handy tool and has a density change option

The apps layout has been coded to expand along the width of your phone regardless of LCD density. You'll have to manually edit the necessary xml files to get the result you want.

The same goes for the calendar (2011 calendar even FC's with a different lcd density).
I recommend just using a third party app in case of conflicts.
Try EX Dialer.
Personally I prefer 210 dpi on my Neo @ 3,7", I think the Arc works fine on 190 dpi (that's almost tablet mode ).
If you have market incompatibility issues I recommend this app: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1428830
Mod the density yourself in build.prop, otherwise you'll get a bootloop, but use the app for fixing the play store.

Hi I want to share the apps I use to make my Samsung Galaxy 2 look like it has a higher resolution. I tried lcd density but I didn't like it because it messed up a lot of apps. So I downloaded go launcher ex. It has a setting where you can change app icon sizes and grid sizes. So I made the app icons smaller and made it a 5x5 grid so I can fit more apps on the screen. Then I downloaded a font size app and made the font of the phone smaller. I also change the default zoom in the browser to far. I feel like it makes the screen look better than stock and not make me want the galaxy nexus screen so much.

Congrats but useless unless you are saying you have some magical solution.
I've never tested the Tablet UI on my GNex. I suppose, having a HC tablet, that accessing the quick settings menu would be rather difficult... as well as the navigation buttons.
Would be optimal for HDMI usage though...
How can I get tablet UI?
Can somebody disable navbar in system ui for toro milestone 3, i cant compile get errors

You can't just go into tablet UI just by setting the LCD density. You have to edit the Framework files.
fail.
Thanks for telling us nothing about how u did , if u wanted to just show off just post screen shots on show off ur nexus home page.
not come here and brag.
thanks for the help OP.yours previous 3ad says more on this....(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=21921799#post21921799) but it's the same method used to hide softkeys buttons...then only thing to do is change density?(other than make the modify on bools.xml in frameworks?)

Let's just wait for op. The biggest issue was that the phone would fc. I'm interested in how the op sorted that issue out. Phone fc when actually dialing out.
this thread is highly outdated and as such too complex for such a task. See here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1543892 for a better way.
So I changed my LCD density to 300 using Rom Toolbox Pro and theres a lot of problems. My home screen and app drawer were just made smaller with extra space all around and my dialer is the same. Is there anyway to fix this or can we just not change the density on our notes? Also what is the default value so I can change it back lol. TIA.
Default is 480 - safer editing build.prop. density apps can cause issues and problems.

ROM Toolbox Pro shouldn't cause any problems. I've been using it to change system-wide dpi since the day I got the phone, without issue.
That being said, some of the stock apps just don't play nice with custom dpi. The solution is to change system-wide dpi via the method of your choice, then use App Settings (an xposed module) to manually change problematic apps back to the stock dpi (480). If I remember right, the ones you need to leave at 480 are phone, contacts, calculator, and gallery. I'm not sure about the stock launcher, as I don't use it.
Alternatively, you can use modified versions of those apps that have been made to work with custom dpis, but you'll have to search for those, as I don't have the links handy at the moment.

I would suggest you downloading closed framework. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1574401
And app settings http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2437377
That way you can sweet the DPI of apps independently.

I used the xposed module app settings to change the DPI of the system UI file. I got a pretty good results using 540 from the original 640 without any system crashes. but now my lock screen is wrong. Does anybody happen to know the file I should edit it the dpi to adjust the lock screen?

I have been searching and reading for the past day. I'm not asking about witch DPI settings to use, I'm asking about which specific file I should edit in the exposed module app settings for the lock screen specifically
You might wanna ask in the xposed page.

That's the one I edited. It worked for my phone except the lockscreen.
It's more like the lockscreen background is at the wrong dpi. I figure a LG file is the culprit
The fix for this problem!
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jrummy.liberty.toolbox
Download that free app and go to edit build prop
Then scroll down to near the end of the list to "ro sf screen density"
Set to 530 or higher. Below 530 you will have issues.
Problem solved

I've tried other apps that edit the build prop but rom Toolbox is the only one that seemed to not cause system errors
This doesn't work!
Hi All,
I have having the following 3 problems with the DPI change. I am using the Stock Asus rom and Rooted. I am currently using 440 DPI but problem has been there are other settings too (420, 400, ect), stock DPI is 480. I have 551ML model. I changed DPI using the terminal emulator wm density command.
1. In google play store some icons are blown up and strange sizes. The Icons that are strange are the google recommended diamond icon and the editors choice star. they dont seem to be scaled properly.
2. I cant set a picture for my user account. in the top right corner of the notification pull down, the picture will also be blown up and weird. if I have no picture than the stock avatar is normal.
3. Using any app that requires cropping of pictures, the picture does not fit to the screen and I only see the uppermost left corner in the crop viewfinder. its as if its zoomed into full resolution. this goes for Instagram and trying to set a display picture in almost any app like whats app.
other than thee 3 problems, I find the new DPI change to be much better than stock. Any help would be appreciated.
I tried to change on stock rom, with "wm density" trick, or "UI tuner (root)", or on CM13... i can say that DPI changing is far less flawless than in SlimRom i had on my previous Nexus S & 4 !
I totally agree that default UI is oversized. Maybe, if we want to have more information on our zenfone 2's 5.5 inches' screen, it's related to screen size/resolution/dpi, Not dpi alone...
Bump
I also have this issue after icreasing to 440.
The worst thing is that most of the pictures in apps are stretched just from the edges (for example in 9gag app those tiny advert pictures).
Ideas welcomed
Edit: worst thing is infact the Swift key got enlarged do I had to switch to a stock keyboard (screen attached)

Hi,
as you have already rooted your phone you try the xposed module App Settings instead of changing the dpi settings directly. App Settings allows you to set the dpi for each application seperately. If you have also installed an additional launcher like Nova Launcher you can change the dpi for that as well. It is less cumbersome than find and set a suitable dpi with which the phone works correctly.
