Possible WACOM Issue or Digitizer? - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi Guys, first post on these forums. I bought a Note 2 from someone who sold it to me as an unwanted gift. Anyways its still under warranty, everything worked great until i took out the s-pen. Now the S-Pen does work but it misses the sides of the screen. Its a little hard to explain, its like:
If i draw lines on the Snote, the lines will break at specific areas on the left and right sides of the screen. If i press really hard, then the S-Pen will write in those areas but not accurately.
Is my Note II Defective, or is it the S-Pen or am I doing something wrong here.
Screenshots are attached. One with simple press and one with hard press.
Hope someone can help me.
Regards,
Solid Monki

Type *#0*# and select Touch
Try completing the lines with your finger/ If all the lines are green , then it must be an issue with spen(unlikely).

Already did that. thing is finger touch system is all fine, its just a problem while using a pen.

This video explains my problem

Strange. From the video it looks as if the problem is because of a defective digitizer.
There isnt much you can do other than flashing another rom. If that doesn't fix , then youll have to go to the Service Center. Im sure they would test your note with another spen.
Or do one thing, go to some mall where a Note 2 is on display, take the spen out from that note and use it on your device.
Good Luck mate.

I gave the phone in for warranty, the warranty was refused as apparently the phone's lcd was replaced at the same place coz of breakage, i guess i have been a victim of a fraud lol. Trying to save $50 now i have a phone with a broken s-pen function and no warranty. Oh well, lesson learned: Always buy NEW.
I would like to know if i can buy a digitizer from ebay will it solve the problem or does the s-pen work on some other part.
All i can find on ebay is the whole LCD+Digitizer package selling for over $300. :S
Any recommendaiton will be greatly appreciated.

[Q] Touch Pro 2 stuck in Landscape

Hello,
I dropped my Touch Pro 2 in fresh water. No insurance of course and no more discount from T-mobile to buy a new phone.
Following video instructions on youtube I disassembled it, I believe without breaking anything.
The LCD screen was gone (water inside), and I bought a new one in eBay.
Once I received it I reassambled the phone. Evertyhting seems to work fine but... the screen is stuck in landscape!
Of course I did soft and hard reset, tried to play / disable the G-sensor and orientation sensor, nothing: I believe it has to do with some switch that recognize when the keyboard is slide open, but I have no idea what sensor is it, I can't find any mechanism that resemble a micro switch or a mini magnet related to the opening / closing of the keyboard. Instead I find a microswitch that senses when the pen is inside, but nothing about the screen.
Any suggestion, does anybody here have any hardware knowledge on this topic? I tried to use software like Gyrator 2 which put a patch on the problem, but I would rather fix the hardware first: perhaps I did not mount something correctly, where is this sensor, is it magnetic or microswitch, I can't see anything even with lenses on.
thank you all in advance
....
I have exactly same problem, my TP2 is stuck in landscape mode. I bought TP2 in the US. My housing was broken so I bought a new one in europe the oem one with lcd screen and digitizer... Could this make the problem?
I am pretty sad, I dont want to buy a new phone :S
The sensor must be in the screen-half of the phone underneath where the red "end call" button is. This is demonstrated if a healthy phone is slid open, and then you pass a small magnet underneath the screen in that area, screen will flip between portrait and landscape.
Which yes I did the same thing today and it was your post randell that helped me. All you need to do is go to walmart purchase the smallest but most powerful smallest magnet you can find. cut you a piece of it, superglue it to the bottom right corner. worked like a charm.
or if you wanted to open your case back up like i did you can superglue it on the inside lol. If you look at your old case you will find your old magnet you can use. simple easy just thought id let you know k bye ta ta.

N7000 Replenishment Screen

Hello guys,
10 minutes ago my galaxy note N7000 screen cracked in my pocket.
So I need to buy a replenishment screen from Samsung but I simply can't find stores that supplies replenishment parts for it. Do anyone knows where to buy a new Amoled LCD screen for galaxy note ?
Thank you and best regards,
Amid
ebay, took 5 days to ship from HK to NYC. Follow youtube guide in opening the note and use blow dryer/heat gun to loosen the sceen, wedge open with something sharp and slowly tear back the screen gently. You will need the old Wacom sensor from the broken screen so becareful to not to rip it. There is guide in the general section. I broke mine 2 weeks ago and replaced it in a hour. take your time you can get it done.
Thanks man. Just to be sure, the price is about US$ 230,00 for it ? i am not sure if I am looking for the right spare part.

I think this is what you are looking for:

I can try but I don´t think this will help the problem. The screen doesn´t show any images anymore, looks like a broken LCD. When you press it, a lot colors appears around it. Do you believe this is the one I need ?
Thank you and best regards

Hmmm no, in that case you will need the 200ish one.
You will need the entire setup, glass, LCD, and Touch. Does not come with Wacom sensor. Looking around you can get them for 230-260. Look for delivery, that makes a huge difference, especially with your phone out of commission.
This is the guy I purchased mine from, but I panic and purchase the first one I saw. If you do some research you will find cheaper, but I got min in 5 days. So I am glad this guy came thru. Good luck, its going to stress you out a bit when you have to remove the screen from the front panel, they are glued on so take your time. Looks like your LCD broke so it is going to crack and shatter further so make sure you do it in area where it is easy to clean. If you look at the front panel after you remove it, you will see one wire that does not come with the replacement one, that is for the wacom sensor, so be careful and don't damage that part, you will need to peel it off and place it back on to the replacement lcd, otherwise your s-pen won't work. It's been 2 weeks, my phone is going strong and no sensor or sceen issues. You should get a more protective case, since you probably already blew close to ~$1000 on this phone by now. I have a casemate, otterbox commuter looks like a good one. Once again good luck, you can do this.
Please stop advising people to do something that is not meant to be done and can possibly damage their phone even more. And most likely look completely rubbish when assembled.
The correct repair part is a complete display assembly including everything - the glass, digitizer, Wacom digitizer, AMOLED, bezel, frame abd home button. It costs around 260 dollars on eBay and is relatively simple to install. By installing the complete assembly you don't need to worry about separating the glass and AMOLED or about the Wacom digitizer, since they are all included. Just remove the screws, back housing and motherboard, disassemble the audio flex cable and front camera flex from the old display and put them into the new one. Most displays also require the old charger port flex and speaker module to be used.
The correct part looks like this, for example: http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=320843198847
Well mine looks brand new, must be the workmanship ;-P But why flame my advise when he is going to need to do it anyways, the screen is completely useless, as was mine. Why don't you keep your assumption to yourself in how it will look or if he is going to ruin the device. If he decides that he would rather live with a crack screen or someone who is willing to do it, there really isn't much options here. What's up with such negative attitude here. Just trying to show him that it can be done.

Replacement screen with 2 connectors
Hello!
First of all I would like to say Thank you for all the resources provided in this forums!
Could someone please help me to find a replacement screen for the International version of the Galaxy Note GT-N7000 with 2 connectors? This phone has the physical home button. All the replacements that I've been able to find have just the first connector. I tried to post a photo hoping to help better explain it, but I can't do it yet.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation!

Hi ,
I think Senior member Justis is right... many of us dont want to do a full screen replacement for 220$...when we can just remove the front screen for 20$..many have done this method successfully... U just need to watch a lot of youtube videos on this and be careful/delicate with the procedure... its possible.
So i dont think what he said was a waste.. Pls keep such remarks to yourself.. He was not wasting anyones time.
Infact you are wasting my time making me read your message and give u a reply.
You know what...im doing a screen replacement too... thats what guys do first. njot jump in and do a full replacement for 220 $.:good::good::good:

[Q] Ace II Replaced Screen

Hi,
I've just replaced screen digitizer on my gf's Galaxy Ace II, which was run over by a car, but I have issues with it.
The problem is that the upper half of the display doesn't react to touches at all. Well, except for the very upper left corner,
so the status bar can be dragged down, although not 10 out of 10 times. The lower half of the display works without problems.
I was very careful during the replacement procedure and I alligned the digitizer's connector with the line on the motherboard.
I didn't use force at all (except for the disassembly), used no sharp tools and I didn't bend anything at all, so I believe I haven't physically
damaged the screen.
I suspect the unit I received may be faulty, although I highly doubt a cheap non-original screen sent from china could be faulty
But before I am marked a fool for trusting eBay, is there anybody with the same issue and possible solution? Is there a possibility it just
needs recalibration, or hard reset?
Any help would be appreciated. I said to my gf I can handle that and don't want to disappoint her
Thanks in advance
Omg! How did your phone manage to run over by a car,!! Give it to Samsung! Don't try doing anything by yourself!

I couldn't find a guide myself, so I had to improvise, however I managed to do it the same way as it was described in the tutorial, except for
chipping the glass parts of the screen off. The problem is most probably in the screen digitizer. I already contacted the seller and he offered
to send me a new screen, however I can't be sure it will be working properly.
But thanks for the link, at least I can be calm that I haven't screwed anything during the process

Replacement screen. LCD is smaller?! Keep missing onscreen buttons.

Hello everyone.
The LCD of my S3 was broken so I ordered a replacement screen on eBay.
It arrived and I replaced it without incident. (It was an LCD + Frame + digitizer assembly)
But after a couple hours I noticed that the LCD is a couple of millimeters smaller on each side.
It is really not noticeable on first sight. The first days I dismissed it because it was something that didn't bug me too much.
But I noticed that I keep mistyping when I'm using the keyboard. Also I keep missing other onscreen buttons and it drives me insane!
I think this is because the digitizer is made for a larger LCD.
First I thought that it was a software problem, but you can see the borders even when the display is off.
I tried taking a picture and you can definitely see it on the left and the bottom border.
http://i.imgur.com/qvkZFFM.jpg
http://i.imgur.com/PgR6gDd.jpg (I turned the brightness to the max here so you could see the borders.)
Should I ask for an RMA? Or am I seeing ghosts here??
Love to hear your thoughts.
That s not an SAMSUNG OEM LCD Display.. Look at capacitive buttons color...
Sent from my GT-I9300 using XDA Free mobile app
If you look at the spacing the Samsung logo at both the top and bottom, there is an extra bit of space and as you rightly said, the bezels on the sides are a bit thicker. If it gives you peace of mind, then go for the RMA, but chances are you might end up getting the same thing. Maybe you could try a different seller? Where did you purchase it from?

Yeah probably not
The capacitive buttons are the normal white color. In the picture they are not on.

Touch function Not working
Hi,
I am using Galaxy S3 Korean Version (SHV-E210L).
I have tried TraingleAway V2.35 to reset flash counter. But it did not reset flash counter, but damaged touch function. Now my phone display is working, but touch function is not working. I am using OTG cable with Mouse for urgent works.
I have two things which i need answer. Can some one help me.. ::crying:
1. Before i fix this, i need to reset flash counter anyway. But latest versions of TraingleAway are not working for this model and Previous versions from V2.35 is also give massge stating "Are you not using ICS". Phone has Android 4.3. So can some one give me a solution?
2. I want to fix touch problem and i search for digitizer in Ebay. But there are digitizers for GT-I9300, but not for SHV-E210L? Is digitizer for 9300is compatible for SHV-E210L? Further waht is screen lens means? Is it digitizer?
Thanks a lot

Hi, that's about the price I paid for supposedly genuine (but not) screens on ebay for my S3, my buttons are also not white as mentioned above.
The first screen I fitted went faulty after about an hour, took a while to get a refund, I had to pay postage back.
Second screen cracked after a very small drop, digitiser was OK, bought replacement screen but when changing it (with heat, etc) the digitiser separated from its backing rather than the screen.... maybe me being ham fisted but I think it was a different bonding used
Third screen/digitiser assembly now has a crack running right across it, and I've not ever dropped it! It still works so I'm leaving it alone and buying a new phone this time.
Also I find the paint comes off the frame very easily by taking it out of a hard case or screen mount and mine looks a mess after a couple of months, and the frame joint is obvious and creaks when pressed.
So these screen aren't very good - but I couldn't find a definitely genuine screen for a price that was worth bothering to fix the phone.... I would definitely get a tempered glass protector if I did fit another of these.....

Screen replacement tab s 10.5

So I just bought a tab s 10.5 on ebay with some pretty bad screen burn in and I'm trying a burn in fixer now but I'm thinking down the line I'll probably just replace the screen. I've looked at some videos of the process and I think I can pull it off myself but the videos all end before its completely taken apart. By that I mean the screens I see for sale have no brackets or connectors its just a screen with its chipset and a ribbon I think. The end of those take apart videos show a screen with a black tape thing in the middle and bracket all around. Is it easy to take off that bracket?
I can't post links or i'd post the video and a link to the replacement lcd but to sum it up, the end step of the take apart video and the lcd replacement look different and I'm wondering if anyone knows if its hard to move those parts over to the new lcd.
honestly, in my experience, burn in "fixers" are useless.. lol.. I had a 8.4 with burn in and got used to it. but what I would do if I were you if look for a broken tab s with good screen and swap parts. like on ebay find something like.. good lcd, but reboots.. or good lcd but doesn't turn on.. stuff like that.. you be amazed at the pricing you can get. I swapped a tab s 8.4 once and it was pretty easy. I would think its the same situation. where did you see the how to? ifixit?

It was on youtube from Mengtor. One deal for $172 that has all those connectors/brackets on the lcd. I'm guessing its not that hard to port over if I have to though. I'll keep a look out for broken tablets though that's a good idea, thanks.
Edit, ok there's a broken bronze colored one at $7.50 bid right now, any idea if the bronze panel will work with the white model? I don't care about the color mismatch as long as it all works ><

It should..
Having the part number for YOUR present screen and the part number for the one you want to purchase might help insure you get a correct replacement. I don't know how critical it is with Samsung but on my Asus TF700 it was very important else all might be reversed! One difference in a REVISION number can make the difference of a working tablet or not.
