[Q] back up won't boot - HTC One X

Thiis morning I did a back up, I do this regular, when it finished I went to reboot but its stuck on the HTC logo, I've got latest or droid ROM with latest h boot. Likke I say it won't boot but also it it won't restore any other back up, which is of same ROM and with same boot. Any ideas

Reflash the boot.img, and did you wipe everything before restoring the nandroid. Also works for people

Why won't "it" restore a backup? Is there an error message? What is "it"?

Not sure y it happened, was working perfectly before, its not as if I did anything apart from a back up,

But does it work now ?

It works now, I had to search my pc for a Bach up I did back in November, good job I keep a boot image with my back ups. Bit the time was miles out, when I went to change time in settings it was seer to India, funny as its always been set to network operated set up. Changed that then re installed latest ordroid, setms fine just a little slow on 3g and WiFi while using the net, would like to know why all thus happened as I dud nothing I don't unusually

Really seems like you didn't reflash the boot.img after restoring the backup. You need to flash the corresponding boot.img otherwise it'll be stuck at the HTC logo. The boot.img is backed up along with the rest of the ROM, so you don't have to take care to preserve the boot.img if you just copy the backup folder. It'll already be there.

G2 Flash Rom, Help!

Okay, so after rooting my G2 I decided to flash this rom.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1012763
Now after I used Rom Manager, I checked the back up etc.
After it backuped it installed the new Rom, at the moment I am at the HTC screen and it keeps rebooting not sure what it's doing exactly.
Shows HTC screen, after a few mins, it turns black plays the HTC sound and shows the HTC splash page again.
What to do?
Boot into recovery and wipe cache/data.

And if that doesent work try to flash the rom again.
I ran the adb command to go into recovery, then restored it from a back up I made.
Going to try another ROM, thanks guys!
Does anyone have MSN?
I flashed cyanogen, but it has the same issue, the splash screen comes up then dissapers and the cynaogen screen comes back again.
What to do? Is there something wrong with my phone?
You didn't have to restore your backup.
If you had wiped the /cache and /data partitions, everything would have been fine. There is nothing wrong with with your phone.

This may be a ROM manager that produce this boot loops, Skip rommanger . Boot into recovery -power-wolume down . Navigate to recovery . Chose wipe data/ factory reset. Then wipe cache and /data partitions, flash cm7 and gapps.
First off let your phone sit for 20 minutes after installing a new rom. The first boot takes a good long time. If after 20 min it doesnt start then come post about it. Make sure you post exactly what screen comes up when it reboots ect.

Cleared the data and cache all is fine now, thanks!
Have a side question about overclocking, how do I do it and what's the recommended amount?
Depending on the ROM's install a kernel
You have a lot of options. It's not necessary but if you still want to first install the app 'setcpu' or 'cputuner' and then download a kernel and flash it the same way that you flashed the ROM's. Best of luck!
Which rom did you end up flashing? A lot of them come overclocked. As the above person posted you will need one of those apps anyway.

I used the one on the main post, seems that SetCPU is not free.
Downloading CPUTuner..
With only reading the heading of that rom i would assume there is no OC built in as it is untouched. You will need to flash a kernel for sure to OC. I cant recomend any for that rom as i have never used it.

SetCPU is free for XDA members:

If you're still using the ROM in your OP, I don't think there are over-clockable Sense Gingerbread kernels yet.

[HELP] Phone keeps rebooting

So I rooted my phone and decided to download the ad hoc wifi app to enable detection of ad hoc wireless on my phone. I knew there was a certain risk but just tried :/ It was unsuccessful then I deleted the app.
The next time I connected to wifi, my phone just rebooted by itself! And now it keeps rebooting whenever I turn it on (but it never gets past the HTC page at the start). Is there anyway I can return my phone to how it was before (before rooting is also okay). I tried factory reset and all that but it didn't work! The rebooting continued ))):
Can someone help me please? I'm desperate!
Why on earth didn't you do a nandroid backup.
You have rooted your device and I'm pretty sure every single guide you looked at emphasizes on how important a nandroid backup is.
What rom are you using?
If its stock sense then I suspect a ruu flash is required.
If its a custom rom then try a full wipe of system, caches, dalvik and data from recovery and do a clean reflash of the rom.

Wipe cache and dalvik cache from recovery then flash your rom again

learn from your mistakes. if you are going to make any changes to your phone you are unsure about, or there are risks involved, take a nandroid backup. it only takes 5mins and will save you a long time repatching/reinstalling you rom back to how it was.
Flash a new rom then backup, always back up man, it save alot of headaches

[Q] Bricked my phone. I need help!

I got a new white T-Mobile GS3 last night, to replace a blue one i had that was having bluetooth problems. Once I rooted the new one I restored a nandroid I had made before returning the first one. For several hours the phone worked just fine, until it froze up, leaving my only choice to pull the battery. When I started it up again, it just looped from the Samsung logo to the Galaxy S III logo. I tried to restore the nandroid again, but it said something about incorrect MD5 sums. When that didn't work I tried flashing back to stock through ODIN. It says everything passes, but when it reboots it just continues to loop through the two screens.
Any help would be very much appreciated.
I would recommend you flash the stock boot and recovery > re-root. Though as a general I wouldn't flash a backup, even if from a similar device, ans things of your nature can happen.
I tried to flash the stock boot and recovery through ODIN, but it still wouldn't boot up. Is there a better way I can flash stock?
Did you try clearing all data and formatting system from recovery?

You shouldnt of recovered your old nandroid on a different device, maybe the data partition but not the full nandroid.
Was this theStock Odin tar you flashed?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1737855
Yes, that was the file I flashed
Any other suggestions? I'm really screwed. I can't even use my old phone because of this micro sim card.
Have you tried reflashing the stock Odin tar again?

Yeah. I've reflashed (as well as downloaded fresh copies), several times. Same results.

Caught in boot loop after restoring nandroid backup

I recently switched from a Samsung phone to the HTC One V, rooted it, and installed a CM 10.1 rom. I created a nandroid backup in TWRP of my stock rom but after I tried restoring that backup the phone boots up past the Virgin Mobile logo but stays on the white HTC screen and never goes past that. It just freezes there. My only solution is flashing back to stock which I've tried but when I try flashing a Rom again I still can't restore my backup when something goes wrong. I've tried numerous times but I get the same result every time. This is my first HTC phone so I must know, did I do something wrong? Is there a different process on HTC phones when restoring nandroid backups? Someone please help me out.

Process is right.... But u have to flash the kernel in fastboot again....
Thank you but I've already tried flashing the stock boot.img file via fastboot after restoring my backup but I still get the same result when trying to boot up the phone. Is there anything else I can possibly do to fix this issue?

Need some help

I was messing around with my phone and deleted a couple of system apps am and my dumbass broke the system UI running JMZ's ROM and was going to experiment with CM10 and when I rebooted to recovery phone is now stuck on the bootsplash it won't go past it been there for the last 10 minutes. What to do? Thanks in advance for any help.
edit: Ok never mind solved problem just hit adb reboot and booted it up correctly was trying adb reboot recovery and adb reboot bootloader and totally forgot about adb reboot. When I first tried going to recovery I did it through the power menu when it got stuck but now I"m in recovery just fine.
edit 2: When I broke system UI my home button wouldn't work at all so now that I flashed CM10 it is still broken restoring backup now to see if that fixes it. Dammit wtf did I do guys?
Ok so after restoring my backup everything works fine again so I wiped, flashed CM10, and my keyboard and home button aren't working so had to restore again.
