Why am i getting this error when I haven't done anything at all and it was working perfectly fine yesterday? I'm on a rooted GSM. So all my adb drivers are still setup properly i just checked.
Edit: it's working literally after i posted this but i didn't do anything... is there a solution to this if it happens again in the next like 2 minutes lol
further update: it just keeps going in out of this but mostly giving me this error than working anyone have a solution?
strange i just got an S III, getting the same issue. i going to try another PC i think it could maybe be driver related
Yeah works just fine on the other PC (both running Windows 7 x64) so im guessing driver related?

That's really strange, I mean i just installed the drivers last night to root my device and it all worked fine and i guess it decided to say "buzz off" to me the next day.. I think it's happening on a lot of other phones because I was googling earlier how to fix this problem but didn't really see anything on how to do it
Try reinstalling the phone with naked drivers.

im guessing you have a windows pc?
samsung put out a driver update for the computer that caused the error.
only way i found to fix the problem is to do a system restore back a few days before the update.
my update was automatic, im going to see if i can stop that update from happening for now..
ic you can call samsung and make them aware like i did...

I just got this message as well....and guess what, had just finished installing updates for Windows.
Any solid answer on how to fix this?
I see this when the debugging mode is on, if you turn off debugging the error goes away
I still get the error even after deselecting debugging.
Thing is, it was working perfectly fine with debugging on, until I updated Windows 7.
I think it has to do with someone with one of the security updates or something......really annoying!
I'm having this issue on my Galaxy Note as well. I started getting it once I updated from 4.0.3 ICS to 4.0.4.
I have to connect phone using the USB Mass Storage now. Before my phones SD and phone storage would be detected as soon as I plugged it in via usb.

but turning off USB debugging kinda defeats the purpose of hooking it to your computer unless you're just using it to charge your phone

Try turn the usb tethering on, in settings guys
i've also been having this recently. i'm guessing that a windows 7 update has messed something up with mtp drivers as my phone was working fine across 3 different windows machines and now doesn't work on any of them :\ it has stopped appearing in explorer as a connected device in media or camera mode.

i turned this on and it forced the phone to install another set of drivers then i turned it off. now i can see the phone and access it in explorer in media mode which is all i care about. currently moving files, but unless i reply back stating otherwise, it's all good now
USB Teather
I was also having this issue. ive just tried the USB teather. It loaded RNDIS communication controller as a driver. No issues since. Good call with the USB tether. I dont know why I didnt think of that!
UPDATE not working this morning. Ive spent a few hours trying to figure this out, but alas.
I have tried all options, to get my files to transfer using my usb cable, to my computer. I can't download a file to the device, nor can I copy/paste files to and from it, either. I have tried multiple cables, and even when it shows the phone is connected, I still cannot do a thing other than copy small files to it. This is a MAJOR problem, as I do not want to use AirDroid...it doesn't see every file I want to transfer...and something so simple as ancient usb file transfers are not working with this phone. My SGS2 worked just fine...but any help that you can give me would be appreciated. And yes, I have googled the hell out of the inquiry...just none that seem to fix my issues. :good:

Windows 7 64-bit...It DOES show in MY COMPUTER...yes, I CAN browse the files, yet I cannot move them, nor can I download or copy to the folders. There are also times where I get the Hardware Id Missing error, even after installing Kies or uninstalling it. Sometimes it shows up as USB Mass Storage Device in device manager, other times it shows up as Samsung I-747.
Out of curiosity, have you tried a different cable? I had a similar problem on my phone. I'd try to upload a file to the phone, even a small one, and it would go very slowly and eventually time out. I tried another usb cable and it worked fine.

I think you have a legitimate phone issue sir; sounds like you're due for a replacement. The folks on Verizon are having to replace there's left and right. I think samsung let their quality control slip on this one.

Your not using any Custom ROMS or custom kernels? I had that issue with my S3 and I was using a kernel on stock touchwiz and couldn't mount. I had to use a micro sd adapter for the computer to change softwares on my micro sd card then flash it on my phone.

Hey there...
So, I just got a Galaxy S3 i747, but I'm using it in Costa Rica (it's already unlocked). I connected to the computer and it's not recognized. I have installed twice Samsung Drivers, but nothing. It's not recognized by the computer and neither by Kies. I've tried 2 different USB cables (I don't have more) and 3 computers, and nothing. I Reset Data from cell, but didn't help. I don't have a external SD installed. I even turn the phone off, took out the battery about 60 seconds, but that didn't make it work. I also tried USB ports from the back, but no luck.
If I tried this 2 USB cables and the 3 computers using a Galaxy S2, it's recognized every time, so it's something about this phone. What else can I do? I'll appreciate any help or tip.
Thanks.

I reported a similar problem with my phone here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=36602425&postcount=1681
If your phone is messed up like my old one was to the point where it shows up as "Device Not Recognized", your only course of action is to warranty the phone because recovery through Kies Air is not possible and at this point you cannot connect to any computer to fix the problem. I believe it to be a non-repairable software issue.

My Phone
Hi, Uber-noob here. I have the sprint samsung gs3, Model number sph-l710, android version 4.1.2. I had stock rooted my phone via QBKing77's video (thanks man!) and had had no problems, including connecting my phone by USB (PDA net, Odin, etc.) to my PCs.
My Problem
For no reason I can see, my laptop(s) stopped recognizing my phone. There is no message, the pc acts as though nothing was plugged in, no message. Device manager shows nothing either. The ONLY sign that my phone was plugged in at all is the "battery charging" icon on my phone.
What I've Done
I use a good data cable that used to work, and have bought and tried a new one. I have tried 2 other computers. I have reinstalled the USB drivers. I have pulled the battery from my phone, waited, and put it back in. I just did a factory reset. Nothing has changed.
I hope someone here can help me figure this out, cause I'm stumped. Please let me know if I can provide any more info. Thanks!

I would still try another cable because I've cables quit working out of the blue before. Also, it may help if you go to device manager and uninstall/remove your USB hub and then restart your computer...it will automatically detect and reinstall it.
I would try with a linux livecd/liveusb to rule out a driver issue. Also try a different cable. Or make sure your cable works - try with another device or computer.
And there really should be no need for extradrivers if you plug it in a mass storage mode. At least my two phones work with Win7, Ubuntu and Crunchbang otb.

Hello, I'm not familiar with linux at all so that would be more of a last resort. However, I have tried multiple computers and a brand new data cable so that is not the answer probably. I appreciate the suggestion though!

That was a good idea! But it didn't work unfortunately. I'm starting to think that I may have a bad micro USB port in my phone. But the phone charges just fine, so I dunno. I hope you have more ideas? Thanks a lot dor the advice!
Yeah could be one of the pins in the port is messed up. Would explain why it charges, but no data connection.
I swear I tried every suggested solution out there – uninstalling and reinstalling drivers. Rebooting in download mode and trying to get phone and PC top lay nice. I accessed all those hidden settings and poked around with the settings. Three hours of tooling around the web looking for solutions and I got nowhere. Then I came across some obscure site where somebody suggested the pins might be off. With the care of a surgeon, I slipped the tip of a knife into my phone's USB port and nudged it every so slightly. Plugged and in and there was that elusive USB symbol, offering up all those grand options. I would've bet anything that this was some complex driver issue, but no. It was a slightly bent pin in that tiny opening at the bottom of my SIII. I'm not sure if I should be elated or annoyed at all the time wasted. I hope you guys find your own solutions, whatever they prove to be. Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeesh.

Hi @Viktorcito, I've stumbled over your question just know, next time you can use my new [SM-T210/T210R] RocketTab Support Thread for everyone to post a question, if you can't post in the development section yet
I've just tested this on my own and cannot confirm @safariking's answer. If the tab is off, usb connection shows regular loading screen. If the tab is connected via MTP or PTP, there is an icon displayed which seems to display "not loading", but if you let it connected for some time and go to accu settings, you will see, that it charges over time...

@tempdroid , first sorry for the new thread but I didn't find the one for everyone; tried connecting the tab to the PC and wait around 15 min and still show Discharging as pics attached, if the tab is off it charges normally but not when is on, do you think is something related to the kernel? let me know if something that I can test; once again other than this I'm very happy with the performance of this ROM

@tempdroid and I have tried in both MTP & PTP and still not charging ... thanks 4 your help!

Hi @tempdroid sorry to bother you, I noticed something when I connect the TAB off my PC recognizes as different Hardware than usual so I decide to remove all drivers, turn on the TAB and windows install again the drivers now on the graph shows that now is charging but with low frequency, it takes almost 20 min to charge just one % so the entire charge will take for a while, it think this is the reason that the tab doesn't recognizes that is charging and show "Discharging" maybe there's an app related to this, let me know anything you may need,
regards,
actually in stock rom or this rom (or any rom for t210) it doesn't show charging when connected to pc via usb coz of the x in battery icon, but it's still charging. you will only notice it when you unplug the tablet that your battery gone up.

Thank you for this info. I guess, it's related to the hardware. There seems to be some voltage missing or too low, for the same reason USB host functionality isn't working as well.
