People, I have fallen in love once again with this phone. I have had it since early November. I am a huge streamer of movies from my phone. I use the wireless Allshare Wireless Hub. Today I got curious and wondered what would happen if I streamed video from my phone and while watching use the multiview feature to see what would happen. And what happened made me the proudest owner of this smartphone ever. The video stayed in full screen people! On the tv! But still allowed me to go to other apps as if I was just letting it play fullscreen video! I know u can tell I'm excited. But this is absolutely amazing and it does it without a hiccup. I'm actually streaming a movie to my big screen from my Note 2 while I write this post at the same time, all from my Note. Samsung is the ish!
Let me know if this is something u all already knew. Am I late to the party?

I would be so happy if I could get netflix, and if it went to HD when i was on wifi or 4g, and if it could output through the HDMI
Netflix is still looking for a "Androd Video playback Expert," But this isnt the first Android job posting on Netflix's site.

Exactly. See we used to have cable for our HDTV and internet at home but after out contract went up they rate jacked us so we cut it off. I only watch two channels on the TV anyway and we use my current 6800 with PDAnet on the laptop so it was no big deal. My wife likes to watch movies so we rent from the Redbox and Blockbuster vending machines for $1
But with Netflix and us both having Evo's we can stream whatever we want to our phone and HDMI it out to our HDTV.
I am so sorry if I posted this in the wrong section, but I was wanting to know if the HTC EVO could run SNES,GBA,GBC,Nes emus on TV via its HDMI out. Is such a thing even possible, or will it be possible in the future?
not yet, maybe later
no but i hear some people are working on mirroring ever thing on the phone so it should be done soon.
I dream of the day when I can play emulator games on my HDTV. I want to show my son the games I grew up with and why they are better than half the crap being sold today.
On a side note: GET OFF MY LAWN!!!
Well guys we all know how amazing these phones are with our devs apps, tweaks, roms, kernels, etc. People who dont have an evo simply cant understand how amazing these things are! Now with that said a little more work and i think that we can start the way in the next step of technology. As im sure most of us know there is a way to have bluetooth input options (keyboard and mouse) and we have the nifty HDMI out plug built into our phone. HOWEVER we have yet to find a way to have the entire screen able to be shown on a tv. If we can get our screen in its entirety to be transferred to your favorite xx inch HDTV, bluetooth mouse and keyboard, and the hdmi cord do we not have a computer? (maybe a computer for 2000-2002 but a computer none the less)
Is there anyone behind this idea? Any devs that can or want to assist? Im shocked at the lack of development on this compared to all the other areas we have improved our phones!
Lol

you're really not gonna want an 800x480 desktop blown up to 40+ inches....
No, but it would seriously kick ass to be able to connect to the 800x600 7" touchscreen monitor in my truck and use it for a car pc (beside the win7 box I built for it). Google Navigation is way cooler than any windows app unless you need trip agenda's or other fancy stuff.
There's a guy who did a mymobiler type app but it requires the android sdk to be installed etc. Supposedly mymobiler is making an android version but again that would require windows to be preseting (along with the requisite computer). It would be cool to be able to connect directly to a monitor.
I really want this too!! I would be more than willing to pay for this or donate to who ever can make this happen. I used this feature a lot on my TP2 and assumed my Evo would also be able to do it. The fact that I wanted to do this, and the Evo has an HDMI output was a HUGE selling point for me. I was very dissapointed to find out that it did not do this out of the box. I assumed that a developer would have this solved in no time though, so it wasnt as big of a deal. Now, here we are months later and still unable to do this it is a big let-down.
I dont want it for using my phone as a computer, I can connect my 17" laptop to my 52" Sony LED if I want to do that. I just want to be able to hook up my phone for watching movies and for gaming and showing other things to a group of people who can not all gather around the Evo's screen to see it. I know we can watch movies through the gallery, but I dont like being limited....and not being limited is what I love about Android. Also, watching movies through Gallery has always been a but buggy for me, not sure why.
Anyway, I know this is a long post. BUT, this is on the top of my list as for things that I want to do on my Evo next. I am happy with my current ROM, Kernal, current apps, games, etc.. I just want to be able to have full access on my tv of everything that is on my Evo's screen and I would be fully satisfied with my Evo right now. Please, some one make this happen!! I would be forever grateful!!

Exactly. im just looking for a step in the right direction.
Been out searching for a way to watch TV on my device in some shape or form.
Checked the play store, Google, applanet, and Aptoide.
I can't find a reliable place.
Have anyone found anything reliable??? Got movies going for me for free on android but I don't spend much time on movies.
Hi,
Maybe SPB TV:http://spbtv.com/android-software/tv/
But not updated for a long time,I tested it on my HTC Sensation (without ICS) and it worked well.
But now on Gnex and ICS I don't know...Maybe you can give a try...
Weird. They show a GNEX advertising their app on their site. Yet I can't find it on the store.
Any reason for this. Seen this app on my iPod.
Edit1: Now I know why ppl bashed at this in iTunes. =p
Doesn't have Any of the American channels. This is like every other app I've seen.
Thanks though.
Veetle is a good one(playstore). It's only streaming of what the authors choose to host. You can pick from movies, sports, shows. Similar to justin.tv if you are familiar with the format. The down side is again it's streaming and you have to watch what they put up and when.
If you have Xfinity or Comcast there you can watch their on demand with their player. "xfinity player"
For US sadly there is not many streamed live TV channels.
Warner got something going. Got a cousin's ex who told me how they did it is weird and is a mystery and is can't be understood really. He does AT&T cable stuff.
Before I dive into this veetle app, Are there any channels a 16 year old would watch lol.
Cuz I'm 16 and really aim for the larger networks. =p
Okay heres the issue I'm having with this tablet...I went to try it at a store as I wanted to check the beautiful screen and just the general unit. So to test the screen I decided to play the following video...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EgKXcQ9PLuc&feature=youtube_gdata_player
The internet connection was perfect....anyways the video was stuttery and tbh I was a little dissapointed since its buttery smooth on my S3.
I would appreciate for you guys to test it on your Note's and let me know how the video plays. Its important that it doesnt have youtube or really HQ playback problems since I'm planning on purchasing it from America so returning it for a refund wont be an option for me (I'm in UK)
The tablet as a whole is truely an amazing piece of kit and I really wish I have been an idiot and missed something. I'm going to try and visit a different shop tomorrow so hopefully it was just because the unit has been abused by customers or something.
P.S. I dont mind this thread getting hijacked for other youtube problems/questions on the Note 10.1 2014.

Mine plays it smooth mate. Very slight jerkiness with the star movements but I think that's just due to the time lapse? You have to look hard to notice it. Want to try linking to another video that isn't time lapse?

Thanks for checking mate :good:
Yeah I notice it then mainly too but tbh I noticed it different parts of the video again and again without trying to concentrate on it.
Why would time lapse matter? Plus that whole video is a timelapse so it should wither be all stuttery or play just fine really. I'm not an expert at this stuff as you can probs tell LOL just curious to why this tablet with the best screen on the market stutters with that video.
Try this one mate...

No probs.
I'm connected with my phone now but will try the 2nd one on my wifi when i get home.
I watched both videos on my PC which has an i7 processor, 32GB RAM and Nvidia 4GB graphics card. It was connected to fibre optic 40MB BT Infinity and I saw the same slight stutter as I saw on the tablet. So I'd say it's the video rather than what we're watching it on...

mmmm but works fine on my Galaxy S3 which is odd.
Anyways I got myself to another Currys today and tried out the Note's videos capabilitues for 20Mins. Man I love it....the youtube clip was much much better and I tried a different 4K video and that was absolutely flawless, So i guess the note just doesnt like the first video HAHA.
Anyways thanks for helping out mate - Now hopefully my mate gets an opportunity to buy me one from the US....Cannet wait to get one and watch a movie on that bad boy.

Not sure if this was already mentioned but the first link you posted actually links to a 3D version of the video. That might be why it played back funny on the note. Also, if you go through the youtube app you don't get the option to play the 3D version. Only if you play it through the web.
I'm facing serious stuttering on mine too! Only happens in YouTube app. YouTube videos played in browser works fine

That is very strange. I would say you may have a bad device. Ask fir a replacement.
Okay I have a wierd issue on my Note when I play videos on youtube. Basically when watching a video in full screen mode and I change the orientation of the note the screen goes dim with a small box appears in the middle of the screen with appears to be signal bars at the bottom left of it.
Anyone experience this...I will take a screenshot when I finish work so yous can see what I mean but thought maybe in the mean time someone is/has experienced this before.
P.S I have no issues with signal or video quality during normal playback.
I just tried playing it back in the YouTube app and it stuttered very badly. I played it earlier on my son's iPad air and it played flawlessly. This is my 2nd note 2014 1st one had major screen issues.
Up until all of this Knox bs I've loved my Samsung devices, know it seems that it may be time to try something else. Fortunately I've got until Jan 15th to decide if I want to keep it or not.

What video is stuttering? The one I posted on this thread on the first post?
See the weird thing is when I tried to play that video in some shops it failed miserably (before I had the Note 2014) yet now that I play it on my Note it plays flawlessly it's truly weird. I hope you figure out what the problem is.

Basically every video I tried to pay on YouTube, even tried playing non hq videos and they stuttered as well. I did a factory reset and it seems to be better but still a few issues with playback.

Aye there must be something wrong with your Note then, I would deffo get it exchanged again or go to a different store since you probably got a Note from the same batch the last time you returned it.
