95%-100%

Hi Guys,
I was wondering if this is nomal. When charging my phone it normlly charges and the percentage moves up in 1% increments. But, when I get to 92%-95%, it jumps to 100% within a minute or so. Is this normal? I am losing 5% of my battery capacity?

Try unplugging it and plugging it back in right away. Is it rooted? Maybe wipe your battle stats. That's where I'd start.

I believe its purposely like that. Most phones does this so that your battery doesn't charge fully as that kills the battery life, therefore usually it only charges to 95 - 98% but will show 100%.

Kinada new to this. But
It is ok to charge the Samsung stock gsm battery at any percentage or should I wait till it low to charge it??
Like if I'm at 30% at night and need full battery for the next day, should I drain it to 10% ish or just let it charge from 30%??
Would it shorten the length of the battery or harm/damage the battery in any way??

doesnt matter with lithium.

Samsung Galaxy Nexus uses Li-Ion battery. So it doesn't matter if u charge it any way u like.

yes it does.. overcharging the battery is not good. it may decrease its capacity. it is always recommended to unplug it when your phone is fully charged

- It is best to keep the battery between 20-80% and never fully discharge it except for the first time just for calibration
- It is preferable to use the pc for charging (slow charging is better)

What you'd stated is true but doesn't the galaxy nexus have its own safety for this where it stops charging and runs off the battery til it drops to ~98-96% and then charges back up ?

Is slow charging really better? In my experience, when charging from AC, the battery lasts longer than when I charged it from my laptop.

It should be better because its cooler also its more steady than an AC Charger

I just charge it at night before sleeping and unplug it when I wake up..taught the battery stop overcharging??

No, the charger will stop charging when the battery is full. If it didn't, an explosion would awaken you at night....

I think you'll fine but it will take longer time to charge as the Note charger has higher amp

Charging slower is fine, just don't want it to stuff up / shorten the battery life.
Just that I've being feeling that my battery seems shorter standby/use time now..
Maybe becoz started using google now?
Also is there any ways to maintain the battery life? Does discharging still work?

To my knowledge its best to charge these new batteries often... it was in the old days that it was best to let the batteries discharge completely, before recharging... I've heard that this might even harm the new generation of batteries...

Yes I came across the same info when I was using my HTC one x --> charge as often.
So same for our SGN2
= charge often, no need to discharge method.
Now can anyone confirming that google now drains power more than expected?
Somehow I was getting more than 1 day of life before but now with same usage my battery can bearly make it to the next morning?

If you want a fast charge, find yourself a Nexus 7 or Kindle Fire HD charger.

No that's just wrong!
Phone off, leave the battery atleat 50% charged.
Do not completely discharge the battery if you can charge before it's 0%
It was true for NIMH batteries, but it's a long time since we had those kinds of battery, and ofcourse NiCd batteries.

yep, what rvenes mention should be the go = no need to discharge (drain battery to 0 and full charge).
simply charge as often as possible, not letting it fall below 50%.

HTC charger should work fine.
You can charge with the computer too, usb, but it takes longer time.

Am I damaging the battery?

so I got Need for speed for my Xperia S (great game by the way, would recommend) the only problem is it is un UTTER battery drain, I'm talking rapid draining even having the screen brightness on low. Do you think the battery is getting damaged by my heavy use in this way? I'm charging it to full, playing it for a good hour and then it needs to be recharged so I plug it in.

No you are not damaging the battery. Hd games drain your battery. Dont worry it happens with every phone. Please post questions in question and answer section.

No it wont affect your battery...I have been doing that for the past 10 months

It's a difficult question. From one perspective it's better to keep the phone plugged in because a Li-ion battery has a finite amount of recharging cycles. The worst thing you can do is to completely discharge your battery, then completely charge it again and so on several times. Which is what you've been doing and these are wasted recharge cycles.
But constantly charging your phone will also make it hotter and that combined with an intensive game will make your phone too hot, which might result in some components overheating and a reduced life expectancy.
So I'd advice to keep your phone plugged in if possible, but don't play for hours.
When you compare to laptops, it's indeed better to remove the battery when you're plugged into the wall (keep in mind that the battery doesn't lose its charge though, there's nothing worse for a Li-ion than being completely empty). But there's no phone you can run without a battery so you can't do that . It's also a question of luck. I never remove my laptop's battery and it still easily lasts 2 hours after having it for 2.5 years and using it a LOT (when plugged in mostly). It was just a cheap laptop with a 6 cells battery. Most of my friends that have a laptop that old or older (and also more expensive) can barely keep it charged for more than 10 minutes now.

nowadays you can't damage your battery in any way as I know.
But it is recommended to charge your phone to 100% and turn all notifications off then let it on sleep mode till your Phone is going off by itself.
This doesn't improve the Battery lifetime or something like that but it is recommeded

I remember when I bought this phone the sales rep told me to never ever drain the batt and make sure to charge it when 20% or less.

Maybe once a month. But remember, it;s good to always charge your phone, even if you charge it half an hour, one hour, or fully charged. This way you keep the battery alive.

From what i read, you should usually avoid draining it full or charging it full. But once in a while do so for some calibration purpose.

The best way ( if you can ) is to power-off your device and than connect to the charger ! - assuming you have less of 10% .
Also is recommended for a battery long life, fully discharge the battery every two or three months !
On the other hand it is not wrong to charge the phone when you think , no matter how the battery indicator shows ! - this type of battery should not be formatted on beginning, cause is not a Ni-Mh or Ni-Cd type !

20%-80% is best fir li-ion/ li+-pol batterys. But I dont do that coz as it is the battrry does not last. I rather charge to 100% and replace battery along the line.
b.t.w. if the battery shows 0%, the battery is far from dead. just the internal circuit cutting the power off
