One is for original and one is for regular. The original are for the big names for official ROMs based on aosp and kernels as well. Regular development is for anything else. This could also have aosp ROMs and kernels.

Deifference between android development and android original development

Hi, I was just wondering what is the difference on the section of XDA forum for AT&T SG3, between android development and android original development? I know both post new roms but I still dont know the difference, thanks for your help and answer
Best answer is can give you is the "Original" forum is for AOSP ROMs, kernels.
The other forum, is for everything else.

Original is for things that people have to build from scratch. Like Cyanogen Mod, AOKP and kernels. The regular Android development section is more for Kangs of CM or AOKP and tweaked stock roms.

Then what are the general characteristics of each? What would I get from Original that I wouldn't from Regular; and vice versa?
They should be merged like before imo. The two forums is stupid

From original you would get an AOSP rom like you would see on The nexus Series of phones. And from Regular you get roms with Samsung Touch wiz UI or w/e manufacturer overlay.

Not exactly, if build from source a tw kernel can still be original development, both trinity and agats kernel are for ics wiz roms.....now the op will really be confused...lol
If you're talking about this specific forum, then Development is for Touchwiz based/ port roms. OG development is more inclined for OG developed AOSP roms(most of the time).
If you're taling about the GS3 in general, what model do you have?
L710?

Jesus i sure hope the people at xda who decided the extra development thread was a good idea are seeing this s****. You have a sprint galaxy s3. They are just different kinds of roms. BOTH are for your device. As long as you have the device that matches the section your in u r ok.

Pure vanilla AOSP

I dont know about anyone else but I would love to see a pure vanilla AOSP rom. The way google intended it.i guess like cm but without all the extras. I had that on my g2x stock and my s2 thanks to eugene373. So I was hoping some would wipe one up here for us. I would but my skills dont go that far. Just thinking out loud.
There's root box in the original dev section and if you look in general there is a beta super nexus ROM.

rootbox is far from pure AOSP

I guess then cm would be the best. I mentioned root box because it doesn't have quite as many tweaks as carbon, or Ls, or then other aosp roms in our section.

I don't think there's a thread for this yet, but I'm pretty sure this rom is what you're looking for.

sweet. I did see the supernexus thread but since it wasnt in dev section I didnt look at it. I will have to check it out after I post. And when you say the dev is compiling now are you refering to the supernexus dev or is there something else in the works? And thanks for all the quick answers.
hey thread is locked it says that there is a official build out. Build 4 but I cant seem to find it in any of the dev sections. So right now I am trying out the test build but I would like to use the latest one. It was a few days ago that the thread was closed. Am I missing it. I checked the first two pages of both dev fourms.

Its okay... too laggy for me and I dont use half of the stock toggles. I will use a different aosp rom like liquid, rootbox, or deviant xone if I need aosp... I need the customization... after all its what aosp is good for

Good choices for touchwiz ROMs or anyway to get s3 stock motions on cyanogenmod

So I used cyanogenmod Nightly and i miss many of the motions provided through touchwiz, but hate the lag in it, I'll rather find a workaround.
So in your opinion
Best choices on touchwiz based roms
Or
Are there any zips I can flash to get motions?

Have you tried MC3 the new update? It's not even laggy.

What is MC3, is it leaked sprint rom? Or a custom rom? Do I update through sprint? How's the battery life on it

Unfortunately, you won't be able to find all of 4.2.x features on TW Roms. But, a lot of TW Roms have similar features. I know that some of the more popular TW Roms here in the d2spr section are (in no particular order):
MOAR (Mother Of All Roms)
The People's Rom (TPR)
Goodness Reborn
JellyBomb
Wicked Sensations
Honestly, you can stroll through the Sprint Galaxy S III Android Development Section and if you see an "MB1" or "MC3" or "TW" in the title, you can check it out. Most are really good and have options for excellent battery life.
I personally enjoy AOSP 4.2.2 Roms (Currently on Liquidsmooth v2.2) and the extra features of TW (MultiWindow, motions, etc) aren't enough to keep me there. But I fully understand that my experience does not encompass everyone's preferences, so I keep my eye on the TW Roms and will flash them every once in a while to see what's what.
Try the peoples rom

Thanks. I have Android 4.2 though.
All the available kernels are in Original Development section.
Make sure you get the correct type of kernel for the type of ROM you are using, TW or AOSP.
