I was having a similar problem with the play store on my new gs3, except it kept telling me to "enable background data" when it and sync was already on...all I did to fix it was delete the google acct from the phone and sign back in, and it works fine now. Hope this solves ur issue, cuz I just cringe when I hear or read someone saying "hard reset"

Had same exact error
I had this happen when I did second clean install of the MIUI/CM10 rom. I had accidentally uninstalled some needed system apps when setting up my first MIUI clean install and instead of repairing the issue, I just reflashed the rom again. On this second flashing, I had your exact error. Same error code and everything. I didn't try long to fix the issue and just reflashed clean again. Third time everything worked as it should. I would like to think there was a simpler fix, but just letting you know my experience.
Oh, and btw, I did stumble across a few threads that mentioned enabling downloads app if you disabled it. Sometimes it gets disabled for whatever reason in the middle of an update or download and will not allow your phone to download anything new until the queue is complete and the notification occurs.
Good luck

Why do my gapps keep force closing?

Why? Happens randomly... and frequently... one is usually followed by several in short succession, and then it will stop and go away until the next out burst of gapps force closing comes along...?

Its the gapps that came with the phone though...? Why would I have to re flash gapps on a stock ROM..?

Same issue here with mine, not rooted, all stock, gapps keeps crashing constantly when trying to use web browser or certain other features included with the phone. Annoying.
Not interested in rooting or flashing anything until development gets a bit more stable.
I had this problem on my og galaxy nexus, clearing data from the phone/contacts apk fixed it. Not sure if it applies here but it's worked for me in the past.

In my experience it is a problem with sync internet. Clear all the data from whatever browser you use and it should stop
Didn't work... still gapps force closing grr this is annoying

It does it to me too all the time and seems random. Didn't think much of it because it happened on the touch pad running cm9. I assumed it was just an android thing. So this isn't normal?

settings -> apps -> all apps.
go to each gapp in the list and force stop, clear data & clear cache. reboot.
if that doesn't help, flash a custom recovery, clear cache and dalvik. fix permissions. reboot.
just suggestions.
Back up everything to Google and try a hard reset maybe?

Clearing the Chrome data worked for my phone...thanks.
A little late to the party on this but the only fix I found that worked was to deselect syncing of Google interne data (unmodded ATT GS3).
gapps forceclose issue
Same situation. SGH999 Galaxy S3. Why is this an issue?
I also do not want to deal with factory reset, wiping apps, etc.
Basically, taking phone off sync... NO F/C at all. Slide tab to SYNC,
F/C EVERY SECOND. I took screen shots, thinking this is so unreal.
There must be an inherent issue with Samsung & Google not playing nicely together this time.
This is my 2nd phone BEHAVING the SAME. TMobile not helpful. In Another thread, they contacted the
President of Samsung for overheating & excessive battery drain. He was sent a new phone, but will end
up with the same problems. I really thought this phone was going to be the shizne...

This seems to be Talk crashing. I get the same FC message. I have to login manually to get Talk online again. Anyone else notice that?

Anybody else run into this problem?? (Play store)

Hey guys has any of you run into this problem with the google play store?? This is actually the first time I've ever run into this problem I've cleared all cache, rebooted, done whatever I can think of but still gives me the "error processing purchase" even tho it is a free app! I got a picture attached
It apparently only seems to be certain apps really weird makes no sense why all of a sudden it does this. Maybe they doing server maintenance? I don't know I'll try again in a couple days I guess

[Q] SOLVED-Apps not gone after flash?!

Ever since I've started flashing ROMs, I've become accustomed to jumping on the market and re-installing all the apps that were deleted during the wipe process. No problem really, I like the idea of a fresh install. However, oddly enough, since flashing Ev1lArt's Wicked v7 and now his JB v3 Roms, the apps from the store persist. Third party apks are still in my downloads and I can re-install them, but the ones from the market instantly start downloading and updating once the phone is done booting up.
On one hand, I think it's fantastic! No more searching the store for all the apps I want.
On the other hand I'm concerned this is an indication of something gone wrong.
If anybody has any insight, I'd be very grateful. Thanks!
Edit: Another question/afterthought. When I went from Wicked v7 (ICS) to v3 (JB) I used Odin and the root66 tar for a clean JB install. I was under the impression partitions would be re-allocated during this process, but there was no PIT file and the instructions are very clear about which boxes to check (ie, don't check re-partition). Am I missing something? Are PIT files not necessary going from ICS to JB? Also interesting to note, when I booted up after ODIN, my apps, wallpapers, Nova Launcher setup etc were all still there. I thought the point of doing a fresh ODIN install was to get the phone to an "out of the box" condition.
Am I just a worry wort? Should I just be happy that some Android magic has saved me some hassle? Thanks again.
Google is supposed to back up what was on your phone and then red download it (restore) from the play store. Downloads always stay, unless you wipe it.
When you say "wipe it", do you mean wipe data/factory reset in recovery? Cuz I always do that.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
That doesn't wipe storage/sdcard. The folders you see when you plug into a computer. Uninstalling apps also doesn't delete those folders
On some roms when you flash on the locations setup screen it will ask if you want to restore your apps from google play...if you leave it checked it well immediately start downloading your apps based off your google account...
Googles backs your data up always when flashing a new rom fireup the play store and go throught the log in thingy there will be an option that you can tick it says "keep my phone backed up whit google" simply untick and voila... its no issue at all trust me

If you are a little paranoid and want a true clean install, wipe system in recovery before you install your preferred rom. The Google restore had been hit and miss for me over the years so I stopped checking the box and relied on titanium backup. Sounds like it is working better now.

[Q] Package File is Invalid

Has anyone else had a problem with updating or downloading apps? I've tried everything. I've called both Google Play Support and AT&T. I've restarted my router and modem, factory reset my phone, re-flashed the UCAMA4 ROM and updated to the latest UCAMC3 and it still happens. Most notably with Google apps like Chrome, Maps, Play Music, YouTube, Google Plus and Hangouts.
Been having the same issue all day.

I'm not a programmer, net tech background, but you guys have the latest issues posting on the web. I've been having the same issues all day, spoke with Google and ran their pre-programmed solutions. I'm just trying to do a reset & rebuild, all other apps seemed to install all right. Originally had issues with updating Chrome & Samsung Link, but in the past hr these 2 have been updated successfully. Only remaining issue is trying to install Twitter, still getting the same error.
Google issues all day myself. ..
And being linked to my home and work computers has made the problem even worse as I'm 4 states away from home. .
But I guess it's okay. .
At least I can post. ..g

I have 5 phones on my account and 4 (including the phone I personally use) of them, that I know of, are getting this message when trying to update apps or install apps. This includes certain Google apps, the AT&T apps and Facebook Messenger. I'm guessing this is going to turn into a widespread issue. I honestly think anyone and everyone who are having should call the Google Play Support number to report this error. Maybe then they fast track a fix once the programmers are notified of the error.

Tried that. It works temporarily.
From my perspective, I think this error is linked to Android Device Manager. I haven't received the update yet, but started receiving this message on Monday. That is about the same time Android Device Manager started rolling out.
Things I tried...
Just trying to help figure out what is up so...
I have cleared cache on the google services, rolled back the settings update (gms.apk - removed the device manager), updated to the latest app store (4.3.10 - was on older version). I tried updating after each, no luck.
I can still download other apps, just not the google beta.
And if it matters, I am running Slim/ Devil with TBO apps...
EDIT: Working now...didn't do anything.
Wish I had seen this thread before I wiped my phone 18 times today. O well. Only Facebook is giving me this issue now.

The least they could do is allow manual update capabilities for the play services apk...
Try un installing the latest update from within your application drawer. .then allow Google services to update again. .
This issue is gone for me after doing so...g

Try deleting the app cache first. Then, delete the Google account and add it back. That should fix it for you.
Others have reported that this method doesn't fix their problems, but it did for me.
I have deleted the Dalvik Cache in the recovery mode as well, FYI.

Nexus 7 Flo 4.4.2 gapps failure

Gapps failure is the best way I can describe my problem. About a week ago my nexus 7 decided to reboot itself while I was in the middle of some gaming (asphalt 8 I think). I took it as just you know the system needed it and said whatever.
The next day some apps start having problems. Specifically Google play apps. Then all of a sudden my nexus reboots and starts boot looping on the 4 colored balls part of the boot animation and then keeps going Google then balls. Back and forth.
I used nexus toolkit (v1.8.0 I think) to reboot the device in adb then ended up reflashing stock because the problems persisted.
Now the device is not bootlooping but every few mins some app force closes or pops up saying jot responding. Or even 7-10 different popups...
Idk what to do now. Please help?
NOTE:
This nexus 7 was purchased around Christmas time at my local best buy. It has been unlocked and rooted. Only things I ever did was use titanium backup to restore some game data from my phone. Never did anything more than that! And I guessed maybe a virus (if there is any such thing on android) did this but kaspersky reports no malware of any kind.
Apps and processes that fail:
Google play
Play music
Play books
Play games
Play magazine
Google+
Gmail
Google currents
Play movies
Google search
Google keyboard
Google text to speech
I don't remember the processes that crash so when they do I will update you on what they are. Please help!

What I would recommend that you do is use the nexus root toolkit to install twrp recovery manager then boot into recovery manager and try clearing cache and everything but dont clear data and see if that helps.
If after you try that the problem still persists then boot into recovery manager and wipe everything....cache, Dalvik, and data.
By wiping data you will have removed your apps but they can easily be reinstalled with google play. You can use titanium backup to restore game data.
Oh and give this a try first...create a new gmail account and add that account under settings and see if that fixes anything. If under the new account you dont see any problems try switching back to your original account and see if the problems go away.
Hope it helps...

You did get TWRP on it? You could go all out with a custom ROM. In any case this looks like a simple enough issue to fix. Go to settings > apps > scroll right to all > now scroll down to Google Play Services, click on it and then clear cache. Now go down to Google Play and clear data, clear cache and then force stop. Ignore any misbehaving warning you may see. Now go open Google Play and re-register if asked. Let me know of if this helps.
What's going on should not require you to send it in. Worst case you do a complete factory reset with fastboot and not some tool.

Thank you for your tips. I actually did clear cashe and data on the services and even on other apps that randomly shut off. It temporarily fixed the issue for about an hour then all issues came back.
I have reset with nexus toolkit, I have factory reset while on the tablet. And I have also erased everything in the stock recovery.
It sounds like a simple issue but its not being resolved! I thought about just putting on cm11 or something but not sure if that would fix it considering these problems persist. Even with a different gmail account on it.
