Hello
am trying to find my firmware version so i can downgrade it in order to complete my rooting process>
i looked in Settings->About Phone but there is nothing there.
HTC Desire Z 2.3.3
Please Help
If u already running 2.3, you need to downgrade b4 rooting. If u want more detail about the version:
1. Off your device
2. Press vol down + power.
3. U will see the white screen.
4. U can check the version from there.
Hope this answer your question.

Then it will not be a firmware upgrade but system enhancement.
It will update some system apps and might be recovery, bootloader etc...

There is a way of keeping the data and settings and even root and updating the rom.... Just search properly.... I have seen it on this site only It saya proper instructions to do so.......
Using that process it won't remove root or anything else....
