Always do ample research before doing this.
I think the problem is there as you have not updated your hboot to hboot 1.36.
Here is a great tool that will help you upgrade your hboot and install update. Read the post CAREFULLY and follow the instruction as they are given.

Hi
i'm currently using ViperX 2.7.1 , ICS
cid is HTC_044
i did this command "fastboot getvar version-main" and got "version-main: 1.29.707.11"
i would like to relock the bootloader by installing ruu , and then upgrade it to JB
which one shall i install?
RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_*ICS_40_S_hTC_As*ia_WWE_2.14.707*.3_Radio_2.1204*.123.18_release*_270370_signed.*exe , and then upgrade to JB
or
RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_*JB_45_S_hTC_Asi*a_WWE_3.14.707.*24_Radio_5.1204*.162.29_release*_296434_signed.*exe , immediately
thanks in advance
Does not matter. Updating top jb right away would be the easiest method.

What is your main version ?
Fastboot getvar version-main
Its important to get the right info first ....
Also do
Fastboot oem readcid
I don't have much faith in apps like cidgetter if you used that

Fastboot getvar version-main gave version-main: 2.17.707.3
Fastboot oem readcid gave INFODEBUG: cid: HTC__044
Then try to restore the matching nandroid from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1975140
I say flash the custom recovery again, flash the boot.img from the nandroid, do a FULL wipe in recovery and restore the nandroid backup
Check if that works !

After this you are able to fully update the phone to JB
Error occured when updating to JB.

please get the correct ROM update utility and try again.
I wonder if there be any "correct rom" for my phone. i downloaded the stock recovery and installed it. but the ruu for JB cant be installed.

you dont have to install a RUU, you must update the phone by using the official update in the phone....
go to settings - info - softwareupdates and check for updates manually

yes i realized it abit late, i downloaded the official uodate (364 MB) in the system update and installed it, but when installed it the phone just restarted and nothing was changed ! i think its because the downloaded update was for 3.14.707.24 software version but mine is 2.17.707.3
so to get this strait, you restored the 2.17.707 nandroid, reflashed the stock 2.17 recovery. did an update to install to 3.14.707 but the software did not change....and you did not have any errors on installing the update ?
check for updates manually again and update again....

The phone is rooted and still S-ON.
Would be nice if anyone could help me.

If you have a backup, you can restore this and make the official update and after flash a rom.
Or, you can see if there is a firmaware.zip for upgrade your hboot

Hey,
Thanks for your answer.
But where to get such a zip?
I don't have any backup...
Maybe anyone else?

You can found the firmware.zip here or you can see if there is a backup for your cid, here
Sooo,
1.
I tried to restore a backup of my cid T-mob101 but even after the checksum5-check and the "restore complete" there is only an bootloop...
2.
When I try to install the firmware.zip there is only "can't open bla bla installation abroted (bad)"
so it seems as if both ways don't work. Awwww I hate the Telekom

See the second link in post by bartdely...
You have to relock the bootloader, reboot in ruu mode and flash the firmware
After you have to unlock the bootloader and flash a JB rom

Hey,
the CID of my device isn't listed in your link. So I tryed to relock and flash the firmware but it fails.
If I try the second method I don't update the HBoot...
I already had an Rom with 4.2.1 on the HOX (IceColdJelly) but I wan't to update to use another one.
So for me there is no way to update the HBoot version? What the heck, is this possible. :'(
Muff(in)
Step 1: Flash a new JellyBean Sense ROM of your choice --> current Android Revolution HD
Step 2: Flash a custom kernel --> Downloaded zip in Recovery
Step 3: Flash boot.img --> via OneClickTool
Step 4: Reboot

Click to collapse
--> boot progress starts --> nothing happens....

Hey guys,
I have been lurking around the forums for sometime now and I could not find the solution to my problem so I hope someone will be able to help me.
My HTC One X (cid : HTC__203) was rooted and I tried a few ROMS before deciding to sell it before getting the upcoming HTC One.
I used the RUU to flash the original ROM I bought the phone with. I've found the file using this post : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1660807
Current phone version is :
Now the phone issue is that Android updates cannot be installed. OTA is working, updates are detected and downloaded :
If I just say Intall now, the phone restarts with CWM (v5.8.4.0) and says it cannot mount the SD card. So I just go to Install zip from sdcard and open the file from the download folder. Then it goes :
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package ...
E: failed to verify whole-file signature
E: signature verification failed
Installation aborted.
So I toggle off both signature verification and get a new error about script asserts :
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Installing update ...
assert failed: check_cid(getprop("ro.cid"), "00000000" , "11111111" .... (same pattern to 9 then comes some CID numbers where my phone one is listed)
, "HTC__001" ............... , "HTC__203" , .... , "HTC__016") == "t"
E: Error in /sdcard/Download/OTA_ENDEAVOR_U_JB_45_S_HTC_Europe_and_blablabla.zip
(status 7)
Installation aborted.
From there I don't know what to do. I tried to download and install the last RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_JB_45_S_HTC_Europe_3.14.401.27_Radio_5.1204.162.29_release_298897_signed
But it fails as well :
My knowledge of phone tweaking does not go further and I don't know what to do to update my phone and make sure next updates will work.
Thanks for reading and for your help.
Re: HTC One X cannot update after getting back to Stock ROM
You cant update via a custom recovery !
Download this file
http://bugsylawson.com/index.php/fi...-r-radio-5120416229-release-302015-signedexe/
Read carefully :
Put the phone in the bootloader and relock it
Fastboot oem lock
Keep the phone in the bootloader and then click the ruu with the right mouse button and select :
"Run as administrator"
This will bring it back to stock.
What is the outcome of
Fastboot getvar version-main
Edit : i cant see the pictures very well, they are small and get blurry when i zoom them

Ok well that helps a lot. I'll try and install the stock recovery. So from what I understand, every time I'll want to install OTA updates, I'll just have to switch back to stock recovery, install the update and then reinstall CWM if I need it ?
Thanks for the info
Re: HTC One X cannot update after getting back to Stock ROM
Yeah you need stock rom, kernel and recovery to be able to perform an official htc ota
