Hello everyone.
It seems tinkering with things have made it problematic.
I installed Team Win recovery. However, when I try to restore from my backup my phone goes into a boot loop.
How can I install back to my stock rom? It seems something I did has made the phone either hang or reboot often.
Flash kernel which is in backup folder
Sent from my HTC One V using xda app-developers app
If I do this via "restore" I get caught up in a boot loop. Any other suggestions?
Enter into twrp then restore rom after that flash kernel or else flash with stock ruu.

via fast boot?

Can I flash the entire zip file or do I have to extract and manually go through each .img file?
If u want stock ruu then go for above link n follow steps. If u want recover from twrp then restore it via twrp(backedup files r already in twrp backup folder) and don't forget to flash boot.img

So restore backup in sd card under twrp backup. Then flash boot.img? Where do I get this boot.img? If I still have original boot.img from vm USA .so far I have rooted and unlocked the boatloader. I used twrp and backup my NAND and now want tot backup the boot.img before I add a custom rom like PAC,man s rom.

AFAIK.. no, we can't.
We need the original stock boot.img
Today I have time to make some test.
The boot.img in TWRP backup folder is boot.emmc.win; we need to rename it to boot.img.
Then I use Dsixda kitchen to rebuild the boot.img and yes... it can be flashed in fastboot and it works

So there is no need to relock the bootloader ??
And how can I get the stock recovery of version 1.29.708.15 ??
thanks for your help anyway
You don't need to relock your bootloader for ota. Im afraid I don't know where to find your stock recovery as I don't bother with ota's, I use custom roms or ruus
EDIT: if you can find your versions ruu you should be able to extract the stock recovery from it

Run the ruu BUT DONT hit next.
From explorer enter %temp% in the address bar.
Find two newly created directories
In one of them there is a file called rom.zip
Copy that to another place. Close ruu.
Everything is inside the rom.zip file.

If you stay in stock Rom but with custom recovery and rooted you would still get the notification of an update but it would fail until you put the stock recovery back on. Some people say you don't need to unroot for the ota but from my past experience it's best to. To unroot you have to go into your system/bin or system/xbin and look for the Su file and delete it. Then uninstall the superuser app.

At this time, you can't simply flash a lower ROM version as you might have. But you can "restore" an ICS ROM though. Flashing an ICS ROM over a JB ROM would cause an error during flash progress. This is what I learned so far and I even tried it> bad result
-----------------------------EDIT on 12.11.12--------------------------
My fault. As you said, step 5-12 weren't required. I've edited the Guide an now it should fit^^ Thank you
Why would i downgrade my rom from jb to ics?
Incase it has to be repaired of for warranty purposes.

There are several reasons why someone would do that. One of 'em is e.g. warranty claim.
Some users report about issues with the JB ROM's, for example the WiFi issue. Those people are surely grateful for any kind of help for reverting to their old familiar ICS enviroment
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Would be nice if someone can report if it worked for him

No, you still can't use a RUU. The RUU's out there will try to flash a lower hboot version and as we all know, this is not possible unless you have s-off. There aren't RUU's for hboot 1.23 or higher. But if you do it as I described it in the first Post, there won't be any difference to a RUU flashed Device.

I'm not sure but it should be possible. I'm referring to mike1968.'s thread about the stock ROM he's providing. Its the same ROM I am referring in the HowTo. With that ROM you can receive OTA's. BUT; if you recive an update, containing a lower hboot version than at least 1.23 you might not be able to flash it.

Sir i have htc one x (asia) rooted but i am on stock htc rom with kernal virsion of "3.1.10-g62b3f63
[email protected] #1
SMP PREEMPT"
i dont think that i have changed and kernal but this is the kernal after i got root access.
I wanna get ota upeates as htc has started giving updates to one x +
So what should i do with my one x (rooted) for getting ota??
You need stock rom, stock kernel and stock recovery, all of witch you can get here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1546970
Make sure you get the ODEXED one or it won't work
If you are on stock rom then there is no need for that, only download boot.img and recovery from there
You can stay rooted, and you don't have to relock your bootloder or anything
Actually i have taken recovery using clockwork mode and i have all this boot.img file and recovery.img file
So when i came back on stock rom i recovered both of them
Just the difference between my one x and unrooted one x is that mine one is rooted and its having kernal which (i m thinking) is different...if u aware of that kernal then plz say me by seeing my kernal virsion which i have stated above...
So with that kernal and keeping root , am i able to get ota?
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
the boot.img is the kernel, so if you go into your first nandroid backup from clockworkmod and find that boot.img and flash it via fastboot flash boot boot.img then you are on the stock kernel..
Ohhk thnx
Can u give any link from which i can get stock nandroid backup and its boot.img..
Is it okey of i get boot.img from somewhere and flash it on my current rom...?
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
You can get it from the ARHD thread here on sda
1: Who says where that the OP has that actual software number 3.20.401.
Please enlighten me ???
2: your kernel cant change by giving the rom root acces
I dare to say that you only need to flash back the stock recovery.
