so I've been taking pictures on the front and the back of the camera and sometimes the picture quality gets a little bit blurry or a lot blurry. I've cleaned the lens on both the front and the back and that only seems to temporarily fix the problem if it fixes the problem at all. I don't know if this is something to do with my phone or if it's something to do with the camera but I just want to hear some thoughts on it.
Yes. ..The lens easily gets fogged or dirty. .you have to clean it before taking photos. ..I use my shirt...I have already reported this earlier

Photos not clear
Yes. i have realized that my Note 2 (N7105) is not as clear as my girlfriends' Note 1 (N7000) camera. Both her front facing camera and back camera looks much more clearer and takes better photos than mine during daylight and in shopping centre. Is there a fix or something to do with the camera firmware? Very curious to get a answer to this.:crying:
Currently running on DLK7 rooted and stock rom. Removed bloatwares only.:good:

I do clean it, but, as I have previously stated, it only temporarily fixes the problem if it fixes it at all.

Hi all,
I have recently bought the Samsung Galaxy Note II and I really am disappointed with the camera quality of this phone. The pictures taken from my Galaxy S2 were much better compared to this.
General Problems:
1. Grainy,Shaky and Blurry images
2. Auto focus not effective all the time
3. Photos in good light conditions are also grainy.
Is there any mod or anything with which i can improve my camera "image" quality. Please help. I couldn't find any mod on the website till now.
I am using note2 from 6 months. But I have not faced any problem regarding camera.
Even its camera is much better then S2.
Check out this thread. All photos are posted from note2. And all are very nice.
There are many camera apps in play store. You can try any one and check.

what firmware are you on?
Maybe its because tou had ISO on auto. It tend to pock a high value for auto. Have you try manually set iso to 100.
Ofc it work best in bright conditions or else iso=100 will make the photo darkwr than usual.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Or maybe, just maybe, you tend to notice the noise and etc more now cuz of the size of the screen(?)

KERNEL: RedPill 1.47
this is not dslr ok?
try taking picture in a place where have a good sunlight..
IINM bigger ISO,more grains in the picture...
Post some taken pictures, maybe we can tell if we experience the same, or if it is something strange om your device (camera/focus broken?)
Try cleaning the lens before taking pics. ..it tends to get smudgy. .. silly but true

I was using Nokia N8-00 before I get N7100. Back in those days I can't stand symbian but god knows I miss the camera of N8. I can't say that there is a distortion or anormality on pictures taken from Note 2 but simply I can't satisfied. I hope that Note 3 would have better camera quality.
The biggest problem with our camera is that the cover over the lense is always 'smudgy', usually with greasy residue from your hands. Make it a habit to very gently wipe this clean on your shirt before taking any pictures, even the slightest bit of cloudiness will result in crappy pictures.
All phones suck at taking pictures indoors, outside they are all generally pretty good. If you want DSLR quality then pack around one of those monsters everywhere you go - otherwise, clean your lense and try to rely on adequate lighting.

I agree the camera quality and focus does not focus correctly and picture image is not sharp. My HTC Thunderbolt took great photos and it was more than 2 1/2 years old also had a 8 megapixel camera. Not sure who made the lens for Samsung and not sure if that is the issue. But I can tell you this some people think the images are great. They are not camera people the clarity and focus are not right.
Before upgrading to the Note 3 just a few days ago, I had a Galaxy SII for roughly a year and a half. I'm finding that the pictures taken on my Note 3 look awful in both day and low light settings.
I've tried the stock camera app, Vignette, Snap Camera, A Better Camera, Camera Zoom FX, and Camera FV-5 all which swear are the best camera apps. All pictures look like crap regardless of which app I use.
These are from my SII:

The weird thing is that those last two pictures came out fine using the stock camera app.

So what gives? When it wants to, it takes shots like the last above. When it doesn't, it doesn't. All pictures are unedited taken with auto mode. ISO and exposure settings have not been modified.
Bad module. I had the same problem, photos would not correctly focus. Exchanged it at tmobile, New one works much better. If you hand shakes the tiniest bit the auto focus goes crazy, that's why next one needs OIS.
I'd like to get more opinions please.
Definitely something wrong. The note 3 has one if the best cameras I've used yet on a phone.

My phone has been tack-sharp for the most part. I think 1 of every 8 or so might be blurry but its been really good so far. I've only had my Note 3 for 6 days but I've taken about 60 or pictures. I have not taken any night shots yet, just indoor/outdoor during the day.
Mine takes crappy pictures a lot as well, plus when filming, the slightest movement makes the autofocus go ape sh* and gets all grainy.
Again like you though, it takes great pictures and films when it wants to.

Hey there, I'm having the EXACT same problem with my new Note 3 and it's driving me nuts!
Just got it less than a week ago brand new from Best Buy (March 29).
I updated to KitKat OTA and everything is great EXCEPT the camera. The smart stabilization doesn't seem to do anything, it's always blurry unless it's super sunny and bright and I'm not moving at all.
I've been doing some research and it seems to be pretty common, about 50/50 of Note 3 owners complaining. Somebody mentioned that Samsung changed the image sensor in the later batches of the Note 3? Also some customers have exchanged their device and say the 2nd one works fine.
I'm gonna play with the settings some more but will likely go back to Best Buy tomorrow (April 4) to see if they have another one I can try.
BRB, Keep ya posted
Hope you don't mind me posting on here, but I also got a "camera is acting ****ty" question and it may be related.
I went from a Note II to Note III ... and taking a picture with this is horrible. I press the shutter button. It does the whole "took a pic" animation and then it says "Processing". If I move the phone while it's processing, it captures whatever is in front of the phone as I move it, as if it was taking the picture during "Processing" and not when it did the animation that indicates it took a picture.
Does that make sense? In essence it's ruined a bunch of shots because it's telling "hey I took the picture" and next thing I know, not, it hadn't taken the picture. And in the Note II I never had to wait for any "processing" like this one seems to do for every picture.
What gives?

I've had the blurry processing problem as well. Probably couldn't replicate it if I tried. Maybe it has to do with whether you are saving to sd card or internal memory?
Saving to my 64GB card that I used on the Note II without this issue.
Damn camera
Yeah same here as well. You have to take off stabilize shot and just take regular pics until someone can make a mod for it or Samsung gives us an update. You could go the other route and take smooth video and then playback and take pics from there. (^_-). I was and still am pretty pissed about this camera. It works sometimes but the whole processing thing is terrible. I too am coming from the note 2 and it had fantastic pics as does this note 3 it just does so when it wants. Be very still when taking pictures.
Thanks for the heads up. Took off the Smart Stabilization crap and now it works as I'd need it. I've done photography for a few years so I can keep a phone steady enough for a picture. The tradeoff of instant capture vs software stabilization with a delay is silly.

Note 2 had much sharper and clear images than Note 3.
Note 3 camera much better WITHOUT Smart Stabilization, but you still need to hold VERY still.
The convenience of a cellphone camera isn't so convenient when it distorts your equilibrium

I never rated the camera on the note 3 either. I posted a while back on auto mode light colored duck in daytime . the duck was over exposed beyond comprehension. Yet the river which was brown came out good.

I'm having the same problem. I shut off the image stabilization, and it stopped the "processing" message.
It still take a very long time to take the picture and save it.
Any ideas?
I moved on to the Note 4 and it's much better. I never figured out a solution on the Note 3 unfortunately.

ok,
I do not know why this is going on but it seems to be software related.
I thought I was crazy so I took off the camera lens cover to test it.
I used the galaxy s3 with lens cover off and the camera was fuzzy while using. So I rebooted the phone and then the camera was sharp again.
The problem is this does not last for long the next time i use the camera it becomes fuzzy again. Sometimes the reboot does not work to get sharp again.
This makes no sense? Some one said there are camera firmware updates. where are they?
Maybe the camera is going bad?
hey guys !
My friend just bought an m5 a couple of weeks ago and he's experiencing a strange thing with the camera. The front camera is working just fine ,but the back camera is taking blurred pictures. When he focuses on something everything is sharp and good right until pic is taken and processed, the results are blurry pictures . Sometimes the camera takes normal sharp pics but the majority of the times its blurred ones, so I'm asking you guys : is it a common thing among all m5 devices or am I missing something in the camera setting ? could it be a software problem or is it more likely to be a hardware defect ?
I'd really like to have your opinions on this as I was the one to convince him to get a Sony device instead of a Samsung even though I'm a note user myself. The device is not rooted , running the latest stock Android Lollipop 5.1 .
Thanks in advance !

I find that the rear camera cannot focus beyond about 10m.
To take the best possible shot focus on something about 1m away in full daylight, if still bad, then definitely a problem.

I am observing the same thing with my Xperia M5 Dual- OK with close up shots only.
Does everyone think this is normal? Or should I be worried that I'd miss capturing important moments?
Thanks in advance for your feedback.
I use Snap camera to avoid such things.
I had a similar problem. In my case the problem was that the hybrid autofocus did not work and only one of the two autofocus methods was working. The result was that roughly half of the times pictures were out of focus (randomly). I solved the problem sending the device to repair. They changed the camera and now everything is working fine. I think this is a quite common problem, since I read many posts reporting a similar problem. By the way: in my case using for instance camera fv5 resulted in good pictures all the time, since this software is capable of using only the working part of the hybrid autofocus. The problem was that focusing was very slow.
Can anyone confirm if the hybrid autofocus problem exists on M5 from 2016 (5.1 Lollipop or it happens just on 6.0.1)? If not sure about year, there is a sticker under SIM slot, use a needle or something similar to pull it. It should be 16WXX (XX is week the phone was manufactured).
Dear Developers, I experience the same main camera problem. The images are vague after 2 meters. I used fv5 app. But, still same quality. In fv5 app, the maximum resolution shows 3.1Mp(2048*1536). But, front cam shows good images and the back one very poor.*
What should I do..? I bought this new M5dual from Amazon yesterday.

Definitely sounds like an issue with the autofocus. To confirm, is this on stock firmware with the OnePlus camera app or gcam mod?
As the OnePlus 9 phones use a laser autofocus, I'd check that nothing is obstructing the focus lens first (to the right of the top camera sensor). If you have a camera glass protector, there ones I've used put a hole there to avoid distortion but with the downside dust builds up and I need a qtip to clean it.
If this is right, the reason it works at first is it goes to its default focus level on boot and tapping to focus then directs the laser
Its a stock firmware with One Plus camera app. No lens protektora used. She uses original case what was un the box.
Assuming the laser isn't at fault, I'd say there's likely defective hardware, multiple parts it could be though. You could try the gcam mod app and see if that helps, if it were better there, then we would know its software and not hardware, but that's unlikely given the problem.
Ok. Will try
