OTA update - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note II

Theres a new ota update my phone downloaded and wants to install. A little research confirms this is our multiwindow we've been waiting for. I'm running stock rooted, is it not safe to install the update?

First uninstall any SuperSU updates (just in case), then go for the injected root. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1975560
Update will be fine, but you lose root. Another way is to backup your root first with VooDoo OTA RootKeeper, then OTA update. After OTA update then restore root with OTA RootKeeper.

[Q] Root for official ICS?

I just got the official OTA upgrade from unrooted 3.2.1 to 4.0.3. (Acer_AV041_A100_1.014.00_WW_GEN1)
Has anyone tried to apply the old rooting procedures to this new OS?
You should be able to use ZeroNulls method in the development thread. It works for all the ICS versions. Including the .14 leak and OTA which are the same exact.
Also next time download OTA rootkeeper app and protect root before you update and you can restore root after OTA. This only work if you OTA though. If you flash through recovery then you def have to use Zeronull. But this is the surest way to maintain root if for some reason the OTA is unrootable with adb method.

Preventing AT&T OTA Updates

Rooted using Team Epic's method running the stock rom. I have Titanium Backup as well as Voodoo OTA RootKeeper installed. I have a couple of questions regarding post-rooting updates
If I freeze the AT&T Software Update V3_1205_2_2, will it prevent the OTA updates?
If not, how do I prevent the OTA update from downloading or from bricking my phone?
If I temp unroot it with Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper and then update, will my root still exist?
What are the methods to update the stock ROM if I am rooted?
Thank you for help in advance.

I believe freezing AT&T Software Update will prevent OTA updates.
I heard a report that OTA Rootkeeper did preserve root for the LG1 OTA update, but I don't know exactly what you have to do to make that work. I don't think you have to temp unroot first.
Here are the methods to update the stock ROM now that you're rooted:
Use OTA Rootkeeper and accept the OTA.
Flash a complete root-injected UCALG1 ROM through Odin.
Flash the CWM-flashable OTA update through your CWM recovery.

[Q] Unrooting for OTA update

I rooted the phone then update came, I like the sound of some of the updates so I want to take on the updates.
I came across this post..
Code:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1941546
Did I read it right? If I apply this file, I wont have to keep on rooting/unrooting to take on updates? Or can I reset counter using triangle method?
Just dl voodoo ota root keeper from the play store, temp unroot accept the ota update and reroot using the app works perfectly
Either way will take you to the latest update. If you use triangle method, just follow instructions to reroot
and ota rootkeeper wont install stock recovery for you. it also wont replace any system files you may have messed wit. still too many chances for the ota to fail
-my 2 cents

it says useless with: samsung phones updated via Kies or Odin..... I used Odin, so I guess it wont work
Download Freeza's ALL IN ONE zip and install through recovery.

It's the latest update and you wont lose root.

[Q] So jellybean for rogers is coming soon (I hope)

When this comes out is there a way for me to update ota even with having root?
You can update OTA if you have stock recovery. You'd use Root Keeper before performing the update and then use Root Keeper to restore root after the update.
There's a thread here linking to the stock OS rooted, which includes the stock recovery. Use Odin to put that on the phone and you're good to go.
ota root keeper doesn't work with supersu?

Hi question

Once I root I can't ever get update from att again right?
That is not correct. If you are simply stock rooted you can still receive ota updates, but will loose root if you don't use voodoo ota root keeper. If you have a custom recovery installed, the ota won't upgrade successfully. Most (all i can think of) custom roms have ota updates disabled. I do not know if this information applies to KIES updates, as i don't usually use it for updates.
