Some HDTVs have 720p resolution. It might have something to do with it, thats why your phone outputs 720p instead of 1080p. I set mine on 1080p and its working fine.
Cheers.

Well on Xperia P you must go in the service menu and enable the 1080p output

Hi,
I have sony ION with ICS-404
Stock Firmwares
Build ↓ OS Version ↓ Region ↓ Model ↓
6.1.E.1.20 4.0.4 International LT28h Generic
My AOC TV support FULL HD ie 1920x1080 Resolution. My sony laptop and [Iberry AUX01 Tablet(Cheaper Tablet ie INR 6000/-)] support FULL HD and working fine with AOC TV.
So I wonder why not my ION should Support FULL HD tv out ie 1920x1080 resolution. Currently I am using Sony Xperia Ion micro-HDMI to HDMI Port Saver Adapter (Type D to Type A).
Shall I need other firmware or HDMI setting, plz let me know !!!
Let it at 1280*720 p
Because if you set it at fullhd(1080) , the phone will only do an upscaling , but the quality will be the same of 1280*720p because phone render all at HD(720p) resolution
Anyway if you want try type *#*#7378523#*#* in dialer , next go to service test and after that go to the tv-out test . Here there are also settings for tv-out

Hi,
Right !
SONY ION phone render all at HD(720p) resolution ONLY, ie HDMI out Mirroring.
But I am seeking Actual 1920x1080 p resolution. Not just phone mode cloning.
Like PC/laptop HDMI out , while connect to Second monitor It uses FULL HD.
Does Sony ION HDMI out use TV/monitor as Second output ?
Anybody using a ION Phone as a live view, external monitor for video?
ie DUAL display Mode ?

Hello, have tried making a 3D photo. I use my bravia HX920 to see the photo with the phone connected via HDMI. The problem is that the resolution is very poor.
Is there any way I can configure the arc to see the 3d photos in the tv at 1080P via HDMI? Thanks
Only 480p and 720p are supported by arc.
Checked it at the service menu of the phone.
Sigh, as most 3D TVs are Full HD.
720p should be pretty good though?? that SD (as per most TV broadcasts!)
Where i can configure 480 or 720?

Go to phone dialer. Type *#*#7378423#*#*. Go to Service tests and look for HDMI Test and choose HDMI Settings. 720p is the highest resolution.
Hi guys,
I have some question for MHL specialists please.
I'd like to connect SG S2 to my car's (Acura MDX 09) navigation screen using MHL USB to VGA adapter (like this one http://www.amazon.com/iKross-micro-...ectronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1326098625&sr=1-2-fkmr0).
As far as I know, my car's native Screen resolution is 800x480, 15hz, RGB+S. The question is - will this setup work ? Is it possible to adjust output resolution and refresh rate on S2 so that it will output correct image to my navigation screen ?
Thanks in advance.
Mark
you can't change refresh rate or resolution on the phone, but the screen in your dash can most likely scale it.
Did anybody tested this? Is it working but not asking for HDMI (this should work), asking for VGA output..
thanks for answer..

Hi guys, I have a problem. I need to get Service Menu working on non-Sony ROM to change HDMI resolution to 720p (my TV isn't showing video, only audio).
Is it possible to change resolution of HDMI without Service Menu or how to get it working?
+1
Any solution?
Isn't that a tv setting?
If you have CM10(on this rom hdmi isn't working) you can't change it. Install stock fw and you will have 720p.

I originally have a Note 8.0 but also use a friend's note 2 sometimes for giving video out to a Projector. So, I use an MHL to VGA Converter and a 5pin to 11 pin adapter.
The problem is that both the devices randomly pick a resolution everytime I connect it to the projector. Sometimes 720p, sometimes 4:3 VGA. I just want to fix on a resolution. VGA only rarely comes up, but I actually want it because the projector is natively 4:3 and fills up the screen better with it.
Is there anyway I can select the VGA resolution permanently? Like selecting a resolution in Windows?
I found a libhdmi.so file on the Note 8.0 which contains all the info. About resolution, it has everything from 640x480 to 1080p modes. Is there anyway, I could modify it to get the same resolution all the time?

According to my TV, the output resolution is 720p. How do I change the output resolution to 1080p?

Since the phone's own native resolution is 720p and with mhl cable You only mirror the screen of Your phone, I think You can't change the output signal.
I guess...
But hey! Good luck! Maybe You'll find something! :good:
