Loving this phone. I havent picked up my netbook for 4 weeks now because this has everything I need and with the milti-window i can multitask so i can say it has replace my netbook which is my main PC really. It would be great if it could replace my works desktop but no support for X-Kryptor VPN and can not by encrypted to the level my work requires.
What has your Note 2 replaced or have you tried not using you PC and seeing if the Note 2 can actually replace it.
My Note 2 replaced my previous Galaxy S II. I will never try to use it as a PC. I love my desktop and nothing can replace it other than a upgraded desktop only.
In current time we can't say it have replaced computer.
May be in coming time it will replace the PC.
Although today we can do most of tasks over this kind android device but still we have to wait...
The Note 2 replaced my iPhone 3Gs as well as my iPad 2, it does both phone and tablet things better.
Its replace my Samsung Galaxy Nexus, As someone else said it will never replace my desktop computer.
Ive stopped using my laptop as much as i used to. and ive sold my Nexus 7
My galaxy note 2 replaced my HTC One X. Did not regret that decision. This phone is better in all aspects except the screen, but that difference is minimal.

I came from a Galaxy S2 LTE.
The Note 2 has replaced my laptop (at home) in fact my Note 2 is more powerful than my laptop. I turn on my laptop once a month to pay online bills and if my bank had an android app, I wouldn't even turn on my laptop.

I like my gtab2 and it still gets a little nookie but the only thing it has going for it is and IR blaster, which isn't really worth keeping anymore. And my laptop is not going anywhere. I love my sager np5160. It can only be replaced by another sager notebook.

I personally replaced my beloved note 1...
I am absolutely pleased with this move as there is a big difference between the two devices as the speed is incomparable as is the user experience altogether...
I also have 5 computers at home and I must say that after this purchase I open my pc less often when I need to see my emails and browse the Web. ..

Hi all,
I am planning to buy a Galaxy note 2 64gb when ever its released In Australia.
I also currently have a Nexus 7.
My qustion is, will I be able to use the nfc transfer feature (where you can tap the devices together to transfer photos etc) with my n7 and n2, like you can with the note 2 and galaxy s3, or nexus 7 and galaxy nexus.
Thanks in advance
Cheers

If I have to guess I would say. For what I remember it was the purpose of android beam. Now I may be wrong as until now I only tried and made it work with Samsung devices. I included a screenshot of the NFC option of my NOTE2. I hope it will help

I've got a Note 2 and N7, but I cant seem to get NFC to transfer files.
It seems to be a problem between Samsung S-beam and whatever the N7 uses.
If I try and send a photo from the Note 2, the N7 opens up the Play store and says "item not found"
If I try and share a web page, the browser will open on the other device, but it wont go to the page.

I'm having similar issues as well. I have a Galaxy Nexus and my friend recently bought a Note 2, we tried sending each other pictures but either the Beam would fail or like the person a few posts above mine, it would open up in the Play Store with 'item not found' message.

Note 2 and Nexus 7 transfer successful
I have a Galaxy Note 2 and a Nexus 7. I was able to successfully send images from my phone to my tablet. Since they both have NFC this is possible. The trick here is to turn OFF the S Beam on the phone so that only the NFC is active on the phone (and NFC active on the tablet, of course).
Settings>>More Settings>>NFC (ON) - S Beam (OFF)

Gave the N7 to the wife along with my old G2. Good combo for her since she doesn't want to lug around a sizeable Phablet. I love the note 2, good fit for my needs.
I need to upgrade both my old Android tablet and phone and am seriously considering getting the note 2 rather than 2 separate devices. I'm wondering if anyone who has the Note 2 finds they're using it exclusively rather than in conjunction with a tablet. I was an early Android tablet adopter, getting my tablet before buying an Android smartphone. At first, I'd take my tablet with me and use it at WIFI hotspots. I now find that I just use my tablet at home. The idea of a phablet is intriguing, but I wonder if any of you with a Note 2 find that you still need your tablets. TIA.

One device, can't go wrong.
When Samsung says it's the best of both worlds they weren't lying. I can't wait to get mine for Christmas. I had to be pulled out of the AT&T store because I wanted to play with the phone all day. Definitely can be used as a tablet replacement, but only if you already have a computer.
Sold my SG3 to move on to the Note 2, I love my Note, but still find my self using my Galaxy Tab 10.1 , just not as much. I use the Note when
Im out and about and use the tablet at home. But if I did not already have the tablet I would have no issues just using my Note
I've pretty much stopped using my iPad 3 completely since getting the Note 2. Really is the best of both worlds.
Obviously the Note 2 wouldn't be able to completely push away my Transformer Prime with it's keyboard, ports and additional screen size, but any thoughts of wanting a Nexus 7 disappeared once I had the Note 2 in my hands.
Original iPad only gets used by my wife and kids now, I almost never use it, honestly could live without it now.

The Note II is an AWESOME device and in many ways is faster and smoother than my Asus TF300 (w/ dock). Even so I still prefer to do certain things on my Tablet with it larger screen.
Now if I didn't have a tablet I could get by with my Note II (though I'm looking forward to seeing what the Next Note 10.1 has to offer).
Actually, after falling in love with the screen real estate of the Note 2, I purchased a Nexus 10 and now tether from my Note 2 to my nexus 10
Yes don't use tablets anymore.

Well, to be honest I don't see the necessity of having two Android phones especially when you hold the top Android phone already in your hands. Buy a cheap phone for calls/text if that is your case. Buy an iPhone 5 to get the best of both worlds. Lol. HTC J Butterfly is a competition for the Note 2. Droid Razr Maxx HD for the greatest mAh battery for a phone.
Motorola razr m would be a good choice if something more portable is on ur mind..

iPhone 4s then. Will be cheap by now. But still no jailbreak though. Waiting for one on my iPad 3
Lumia 800 is dirt cheap now on payg. I might have to get one for times it would be dangerous to carry the note 2 and give me somewhere to put my 2nd sim. If only we had proper Google voice in the UK.

Im personally thinking of getting a nexus 4. (if they ever become available ) i know my note 2 is the best in a lot of ways but i can never have just one phone for extended periods of time. I think the smaller size and stock Android is a great second phone, especially if you don't like rooting and romming.

I used my note II along with a HTC One X and thought it was a great companion phone. Only thing that bothered me was the standby time of the HoX being around 4 days with an hr of screen time.
I also use an htc one x and the note 2 together. Great combination because you get the bad ass screen of the one x and the functionality of the note 2. Plus i just wifi tether to my one x to save me having a second sin card

I have a Galaxy S4 and finally broke down and bought the Nexus 7 last week. Just love it. I can now actually read all the pdf files I need for work without massively squinting. It's an excellent size, fast, and no stinking bloatware.

I thought the same thing until I started to realize that for quick browsing and media consumption, a tablet is more convenient and battery efficient (I have the wifi N7) than either a smartphone or laptop (and I own both, with the S3 as the phone). Plus, if I want to bring the bigger screen out and about with me, it's so easy to do so.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
I use my 7 tethered to my 5 to browse. Its a good solution to saving battery on the 5 because the screen isn't being used. I can browse for hours on the 7 and still have over 60% battery on the 5 before my day is over.

I have a Note 3 and still love my Nexus 7. My N7 is used mostly for games and web when I'm at home. My kids use it when I let them (they have to earn it) so its nice to not let them use my phone. There is definitely a difference when using a Note 3 and N7. Though the phone has a large screen, I still love my N7.
Its also nice to have a 2nd device if one is charging or has a dead battery.
The only thing I wish my N7 had was a pen like the Note 3. I bought my Nexus 7 before the Galaxy Note 8 came out and would probably still buy the Nexus 7 because of the price. Normal capacitive styluses just aren't as good as the S-Pen.
I have a note 2 and have tether on 24/7 w/ my N7 2013 now. I read everything on the N7 and don't really do all that much on the Note2 except quick texts (even though I text through the N7 as well using google voice).
I'm kind of thinking that I now want a very slim candybar like HD screen phone about 2.5 - 3.5 inches that is primarily for HD videos (like youtube) and phone calls. I use voice dictation so I don't care all that much for keyboard size...
I have a Note 2 and the 1st Gen Nexus 7 (until later today) and I like the combo. At home or in a cafe, I use the Nexus 7.
If I'm out running errands I will take the phone. The 5" size means I don't feel the need to take my Nexus 7 everywhere, and the 5 inches is very usable for anything I'm likely to do when out and about.
