Use a 3rd party keyboard or if you have root you can revert back to old keyboard.

Have they renamed it "phone" or is that different?

Bah, i don't want to root it yet Shame they removed it from offical rom.

You can try "Perfect Keyboard". It has a free version with compact layout.

About which keyboards from which android versions are you talking about?
Sent from ICS with Transparent XDA App
You can allways download the gingerbread keyboard (by Steven Lin) from the market and use that as your input method. It`s my preffered keyboard.

You are using Desire HD? Then you are in the wrong section
But to answer your question, I assume that the original keyboard you are referring to is the one that came with the phone when you bought it right? That is the HTC IME keyboard.
Seach for HTC IME keyboard on the forums. There is a thread for it and you can even customize the looks if you want.
The keyboard that's on the CM7 rom is actually the official android keyboard.
Thanks guys appreciate it

[Q] HTC Keyboard Question

Hi all
Yes, you read the subject right
I'm about to sell my HTC Sensation and I ordered my Xperia Arc S today. One of the only things I expect to miss about the Sensation is the HTC keyboard.
Can anyone recommend a good app that will give me the kind of improved functionality over the standard Android keyboard that HTC Sense provides?
I can end up trying myself when the Arc S arrives in a few days, but I'm just excited in the meantime
Thanks all,
schnide
I'm using htc ime mod app.
That's a bit older app without of arrows and swipe gestures but works very well.
You need two lib files and two apks (clicker hi and keyb).
I use stock looking (unthemed).

Wow, it really does. Thanks!

Anyone else use a non htc one x keyboard layout?

I had to change the original layout. While i do admit i like it better look-wise, i have a hard time typing fast with it. I'm using the ics keyboard. Capable of typing faster and feels more accurate. How about you guys? If yes, which one do yoy use ?
Also using the ICS keyboard. Its just better to use IMO

Swift key X, best keyboard. It learns your typing all the time.

SwiftKey all the way
Yeah, Swiftkey X really is the best Been using beta 3 since the day it first came out, it rocks!
Guess im going to DL and try swiftkey now haha
Swype Beta, been using it on my DHD and now on the One X
I just can't get on with Swiftkey, I'm somehow much quicker on the ICS keyboard. Each to their own I guess
Swiftkey X, hands down the best keyboard.
Smart keyboard pro..
I have used Swype keyboard since my X10 and can't get on with any other keyboard.

I've always preferred aosp keyboards, 2.2, 2.3, 3.0 and now this one. Although it could use a calibration option like the sense keyboard offers.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
i couldn't get it to stop changing my words even after turning that stuff off in settings. i'm using AOSP keyboard now and will use swype if i want to trace.
Swift key it. Typing with my eyes closed. It learns and adapt to ur typing too. Best so far.

The AOSP keyboard with auto correct set to "Very Agressive" is amazing. I just wish the ones on the market had the actual AOSP sounds.

Favourite android keyboard for the HTC One X

Hey guys,
Just trying to get a few opinions on what you think is the best keyboard for the HTC One X. I just purchased Swift 3 keyboard and I think it's definitely worth it.
Much better than the original keyboard for sure. I really like the samsung galaxy nexus stock android keyboard that it comes with.
By the way jelly bean 4.1.1 is awesome!
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
SwiftKey is superb, they isn't a better keyboard out there.
Swiftkey 3 hands down :good::highfive:
Better than the stock android keyboard that is on the galaxy nexus though? With jelly bean it's pretty hard to beat I think.

I use Jelly Bean keyboards, but if I wasn't so cheap I would buy SwiftKey3, I used the beta and it was superb.

Smart Keyboard here. Bedt there is.
Happy with the HTC stock
Using SwiftKey and loving it
From my ONE X in your face!
Swiftkey 3
I used the SwiftKey Trial till it got over. Amazing keyboard, definitely worth the price.
Now I'm using Swype Beta and it kicks ass! Its so easy to type/swype words xD
Must say that after using SwiftKey 3 keyboard for only half an hour it seems like it is probably the best there is.
The predictive text is actually quite amazing if you ask me!
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Another thing is, keyboard prediction RIM was showing off with its BB10 keyboard is already there on android with SwiftKey! The prediction is brilliant!
A.I. type keyboard. Brilliant! Best predictive text I've seen. A one touch £ if set to UK english, top row that can be hidden with a swipe for numbers and symbols, a drag handle to change the height at will, cut/copy/paste/select on long press of C and numerous themes. I can't fault it!
SwiftKey still the best.

I use hackers keyboard , will try swift keyboard in future
Swiftkey, ive had it since it was in beta stage and bought it immediately
Since I don't use text prediction / auto correction, I am satisfied with the stock AOSP ICS keyboard. Love the way it looks and I can type really fast on it without any prediction.
swiftkey 3 by far!

Keyboard with swype

So im using jmzonev Rom based on stock and I'm using the full sense version and I like the sense keyboard with swype but I don't like how slow the full sense Rom runs even overclocked. Is there a way to take the keyboard out and put it in the sense lite version of jmzonev?

Try Swiftkey.. It's awesome! It has text reflow technology.. Try it..
Can't you just enable the feature in the lite version?
Going to your settings and activating it? Was possible in version 5, though.
