which one would you recommend? pro and con of each?
i really like touchwiz annimation when opening up app drawer. And the touchwiz widget
i tried apex on s3 and it was smooth but it doesnt include the touchwidget widget like the calender month and the weather widget
is there a way to get the touchwiz widget on apex or nova?

Nova and apex are almost the same but it has gesture support, wider range grid and has support for icon packs to change the looks of icons and no. No touchwiz widget on third party launchers

I used nova over stock, never used apex. However when sliding between homescreens there would ALWAYS be a lag upon the first swipe to a not yet visited screen, which bothered me a lot but eventually decided to just root and flash a cm10 based rom. Still would prefer nova over touchwiz, especially allowing the ability to modify the transition speed, makes it feel much snappier. Apex may have the same settings though.
Apex vs Touchwiz Power Consumption
From My Power Consumption statistics:
Apex Launcher
Time of display on: 20m Time of CPU in use 9s
Touchwiz home
Time of display on: 28m Time of CPU in use 4s
Apperently, Apex consumes much more battery accourding these stats.

You could get Google's calendar widget, which is as good or better than Touchwiz'. Also you could get fancy widgets for weather, or weatherbug, or accuweather.
I'm using Holo launcher by the way. I think there's not too much difference between any of them.
I use Nova, works great. Never used Apex so I cant say. Touchwiz is okay but I dont really like it.

I use Apex. I just need a grid that's at least 6 tall by 5 wide.
I tried Nova, too, and they are indeed almost the same. Nova did some things better but I switched back to Nova because of the app drawer - infinite scrolling within a tab. It was just too annoying to not have it with Nova.

Since S2 i am on apex. Never thought of looking another option .
For widgets there are alot of options in play store.
I use Xperia more smooth to me second favourite is nova consume less battery to the others

I've noticed significant lag with the Galaxy Nexus and I suspect its the GN launcher. I believe I've tried all the variations of the modded launcher. I'm wondering if everyone else is seeing the same thing?
Do you notice laggy transitions?
Are you dealing with it or running a new launcher?
Which one are you running?
What do you miss from the stock launcher the most?
Do you really like widgets in the app drawer? (i'm on the fence about that one)
Adw ex launcher ftw.

I'm a huge fan of adw launcher ex!!! That was my first thought.
I tried adw ex right away but didn't like it. Was early on though. But I like the stock launcher enoughcit will be awhile before I try again.

Are you running a live wallpaper? A stock live wallpaper? If so, there is the cause of your lag.
I've never heard of anyone having a laggy launcher unless it was when using one of the included stock live wallpapers that wasn't the phase beam one.

There is extreme lag when using live wallpaper that isn't phase beam but even without there is noticeable lag. Its usually stuttering in the animation when going in and coming out of the app drawer or when scrolling from apps to widgets.
Are you on 4.0.1?
4.0.3
Different roms and different kernels and there isn't much of a change. I mean don't get me wrong its not like painfully slow that I want to hang myself or throw the phone out the window but it isn't even close to as smooth as the early alpha of ICS on the GS2
ADW launcher EX
Odd.. I've never experienced lag :/ try using nova launcher
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Yup. Tried that as well. And "Home Launcher" which is currently my fav as well as the CM9 launcher. Pretty much the same thing all around. I did use adw for a few hours and that was buttery smooth but they have to make some changes to their folder implementation before i can use that everyday
Using the stock ICS launcher. I need to get around to trying some of the other ones on ICS.
Stock and I suspect some of the lag will be addressed by 4.0.3 if you're not already on a custom ROM.

Nova Launcher Beta7 > *
As much as I like Nova Launcher and ADW Launcher Ex, my first choice of launcher is LauncherPro because, as far as I am aware, it is the only one that has built in widgets for Facebook and Twitter.
I know you can install widget packs like Android Pro Widgets or Colorize Widgets but they all have issues, like jerky scrolling or the Twitter app only showing up to 100 tweets.

guess thats an alright reason
i only use 3 homescreens, *usually only 1* and only ever use 1 widget *beautiful widget 4x1* and leave facebook/twitter to the apps
widgets are battery suckers
and if you need to see more then 100 tweets on your homescreen you should be opening the app
I'm surprised no one mentioned Go Launcher Ex, especially when it's free and provides a LOT of support. Check it out, it has very awesome animations for everything. Only downside right now is a bit of lag when opening the drawer, i'm sure that will soon be fixed.
Nova launcher. Best one. No lag. 4.0.3 custom and Franco kernel
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus
I use ADW.Launcher EX cuz it supports more than 16 apps using the built in Folders feature. Also icon skinning support.
I can't believe the stock launcher can't hold more than 16 apps in a folder... wtf is this, iOS?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

The Best calendar app I
ever used is from Jorte...Fully Functional...so many options and widget sizes...Im tellin ya you'll like it ...Blows TW outta the water... https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jp.co.johospace.jorte&hl=en Will work on any rom includin ICS...
I use Pure Grid Calendar. Brilliant. Scrolling. Detailed. OhEmGee I <3 it.

i went with pure grid calendar widget... that one you said was pretty good but installed a whole new calendar.... i just wanted a widget
Hi guys,
I'm currently switcher over to start using nova launcher however I can't get the calender widget to act right. I love how it looks on TouchWiz, however when I use the widget over on nova launcher it's pretty terrible and overall different. On touchwiz, the Calender widget displays as a month view which is really nice, and I can easily add things to the calender without launcher the calender app.
On Nova Launcher, I'm finding that the calender widget is different, and instead of having a month view, it just shows the present day.
Any advice or Calender widget apps to recommend?
There are numerous calender apps on the market. Try a few of them.

Thank you for recommending a few...
I use retro date. It's part of the retro clock app.
Edit
Nvm. It just links to stock calender. I'm using adw launcher and the Callender widget looks the same as stock tw, but only a 2x3 size
I'm trying out Business Calendar and liking it so far. I'm trying to find replacements for all the TW features I like so I can jump to CM10 when it gets a little more stable.

Can this be done? Is it on in ROMS other than stock? Why would it ever be disabled anyway.
Use apex or Nova launchers. No idea why anyone would stick with the touch wiz launcher
There is a mod in theme/mod section, but it may not work with ota.

Worked!!! It's called "Ultimate rotation control"
I like the Nova launcher too...it's very fast. But I somehow lost the Accuweather time widget when I went to Nova. I tried to get it form the market but it doesn't look the same. Wife's phone so I can't justify changing the appearance that much for rotations sake. Otherwise, if I could have put the same exact Accuweather widget back on, I think I would have left Nova on.
Edit: Spoke to soon. Ultimate is only free for 7 days.
2nd Edit: Found another one called "Rotation locker"
I like Holo Launcher HD. No lag, customizable, more options (like auto rotate) plus you can still use the Note 2 touchwiz widgets if you want.

I ended up going with Novo launcher and finding a different weather widget from the Playstore.

That's what I did. I changed over to Nova Launcher and also Fancy Widgets to use a weather clock/widget.
I did like the Weather clock on Touchwiz but what bothered me was , having used HTC Sense for quite a while, I am used to touching the time and going to the alarm, but with Touch Wiz, no matter where I touched, I'd goto weather.
I used Apex launcher on stock. It helped until I got a phone call in my car with the phone docked. The Phone app doesn't want to rotate! :/
If you're rooted....check out the MOD TW 360 rotation
I'm running rooted deoxed TW with multi view and the MOD worked fine.

I have another widget I found which is very very nice. I don't think it let's you go to alarm by touching the time though.

Fancy Widgets let you set what program got called depending on what you pressed but I couldn't find a widget that I was happy with.
I ended up using HD Widgets and and used one of their weather clocks. While it doesn't let you specify the programs for where you touch, it has a very nice weather page built in(even allows you to select int weather ino provider) that works when you touch any of the weather and goes to the alarm when you touch the time.
So I'm using Nova Launcher, HD Widgets and also Android Pro Widgets for things like a Timeline widget(I was using APW on Touchwiz too).

Any suggestion about ui? I would like to change from touchwiz to another one.
But just concern about performance and
If I change to another ui, will I lost some functionalities?

You could try one of the launchers out there. Nova Launcher would be a good place to start. One thing you'll definitely lose is Page Buddy - the homescreen panel that appears when you remove the S-Pen or plug in headphones.
Nova is simple and fast... I am using tsf shell.... it is something new. ..
Also you can try action launcher. ..simple and fast like nova
handwritten from my note 2 (N7100)
You will loose some of the widgets. I have tried Nova, Apex, SSlauncher and a few others but really like the smoothness of TW and the S-Planner widget.
+1 for Nova. Simple, fast, and is basically the closest thing to stock. Tw is great, but the inability to change homescreen grid was too much. With nova i can go up to 7x7 i think. In the past I've kept tw but only because other launchers took up too much ram. I don't think it's possible to run out of ram on this thing. Lol
