[Q] Various Problems (relock & update to JB)...HELP! - HTC One X

Hi Guys
Hope you can help me
So i have a HOX from the swiss carrier "Swisscom" ; branded
CID Getter tells me: VODAP110
Recovery Mode tells me:
HBOOT 0.95.0000
Radio: 1.1204.105.14
fastboot getvar version-main tells me something like
1.29.166.13 (or 14...)
when i relocked i was also getting an error like : error: too many links...
i am currently using ARHD 9.7.1 and wanted to update to JB.
i am seriously a bit confused which nubmer i have to look for
i some threads the speak about the CID, in others about the RADIO.....
what i did;
i relocked my bootloader and tried the following RUU:
RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_ICS_40_Vodafone_CH-DE_1.26.166.2_Radio_1.1204.90.13_release_251279_signed.exe
which resulted in my HOX to give several errors and not starting again.
i luckily could unlock again and install ARHD 9.7.1 again. What am i doing wrong?
THNAKS A LOT FOR YOUR ADVICE!!

You need the branded voda RUU that starts with 1.29 and not 1.26
We can't downgrade because we don't have S-Off ....yet !
The steps you took where fine, locking the bootloader and running the ruu......it es just the wrong one

thanks, do ypu know where i can get it? as far as i know the OTA for this phone is out by now...
what i dont understand, this stock RUU is just like putting the phone back to the status it was when i bought it right? so then i start it and make the official OTA?

First you have to run the right ruu, after that it's back to stock. After that you are able to receive the JB update (when the provider rolls it out)
You can search for a ruu on htcruu.com or.the file factory !

so this means this RUU is basically the one which was on the phone when it was released? that i very strange, because i can not find it...
nowhere, not on HTCRUU or filefactory..

The possibility exist that they didn't release the ruu !
Maybe you can find one that starts with 2.17 ! Upgrading is possible ....

Well if the ruu has not been released its just not out there .... Plain and simple
If you can find a ruu with exactly the same.numbers but starts with 2.17 instead of 1.29 (which might be released) you can flash the 2.17 ruu.
Because with a ruu we can do upgrades but no downgrades

RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_ICS_40_S_Vodafone_CH-DE_2.17.166.3_Radio_2.1204.137D.21_release_277605_signed.exe
you think this should work?

Yeah i think it will !
Put the phone in fastboot USB mode and relock the bootloader
Fastboot oem lock
Keep the phone in fastboot USB menu and run the ruu.exe from pc with admin rights !

Cool it worked fine, i have now the branded JB, recieved by OTY, Thanks for the input.
BUT do i have to make a Firmware update now as well if i want ARHD 18.0 ?
the file from here: 3.14.166.27 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1957376 ?
THX

If you received the JB ota you have already the needed JB hboot, check in the bootloader if it's 1.31 or higher. Then you are ready to run a custom JB rom and no need to update the firmware/hboot
You have to re unlock the bootloader and flash a custom recovery ! And please do a NANDROID BACKUP right after flashing the custom recovery and copy it to a safe place on the pc ! This way you avoid problems if you want to go back to stock !!!

Hello guys,
I just want to thank both of you. I was in the same situation as discussed here and I just solved the problem with your help!
Thanks a lot!

You need the flash the stock recovery, relock the bootloader and then run the RUU. That will return you to stock firmware.

hboot 0.94 comes with 1.28, this means you won't be able to run a 1.26 RUU - you can only run 1.28 RUUs or newer. If you can't get the 1.28 RUU for your CID you won't be able to run a RUU. You can still flash custom ROMs though, so if your phone is bootlooping that's your way out.

Are you on vodafone UK? The 1.28 RUU is available for that carrier.
Even after relocking the bootloader and running a RUU, it's impossible (without S-OFF) to remove any trace that you unlocked it. The repair centre will still be able to tell.

Essentially no. Once you unlock it, even if you relock it it won't be exactly the same. The bootloader will remember that it was previously unlocked and repair centres will be able to see it. That said, restoring the RUU is better than nothing, but from what I've heard the repair centres like to bill you for a motherboard replacement if you unlock your device.
UK law does give you a large degree of protection if you wanted to take it to court though (assuming you're returning it due to a fault that was not caused by unlocking the device)

[Q] Help needed upgrading to JB using RUU

I've upgraded hboot on my One X (Cid HTC__016) using this tool http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1924003
to hboot 1.39.
Thereafter proceeded to run the following RUU found at http://www.htcruu.com/Endeavor/RUU_...Radio_5.1204.162.29_release_298897_signed.exe
Phone is put into fastboot USB mode before running the RUU, using onscreen options on phone.
While the RUU runs, no progress bars show on phone, only silver HTC logo.
Update fails with Error 155, Unknown error.
Any help or advice will be much appreciated!
The ruu you are trying to flash is for the 1.36 hboot and you have the 1.39 so you are trying to downgrade it but that is not possible !
You need to find the same ruu but it has to end with .31
Try this one
http://www.htcruu.com/securekey.php...Radio_5.1204.162.29_release_302015_signed.exe
And you have to lock the bootloader to before running the ruu !

Error 155 indicates you flashed the wrong RUU for your phone afaik. Try to reflash the original Hboot and then flash the appropriate RUU for your region/country.

Mail me with your problem. I've had the same problem, and I solved it. When I get home (in about 6 hours) I'll help you out. I had to reflash an old RUU to get all the OTAs to go JB and I managed to do it, after hours of messing around.

Well, not all HTC CID's have the latest RUU's (like mine didn't) so I found a way to flash an RUU with an older hboot.
But we are not talking about your cid, we are talking about his cid and his problem and he has an official ruu available he just had to pull the latest .... lets not make it difficult

somebody plz help, I tried this one as well, this one also didn't work, I'm familiar with the stuff, I know I'm not doing something wrong to restore, someone who's more advanced in this stuff please help me now mydevice is relocked, & can't run the RUU exe & when I reboot for anything it tells me:
"This build is for development purposes only
Do not sistribute outside of HTC without HTC's written permition.
Failure to comply may lead to legal action"
& then the device will boot back to bootloader with "device relocked" warning!
If you still have the unlock code , flash it
Phone in bootloader
Fastboot flash unlocktoken unlock_code.bin
Then flash a custom recovery
http://db.tt/Krlm4dPs
Rename it to recovery.img and flash it
Fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Download a custom rom and flash it with the including boot.img
Then you have at least a working phone and you can charge it in the recovery before your batt runs out !!!
Ow and by the way the error has more to do with the pc than with the phone because its the correct ruu !!!

Thanks for the guide but all this is a normal process to go back to where I was, I have failed to run the RUU many other times while trying
Yes I have the unlock code, & I have gone back to a billion times, but this time I want to keep my phone half way bricked untill I figure out how to run the RUU file, because I have tried it here and there on other computers too & it still gives me the same error
I had the same error yesterday when running an older version RUU to get it's ROM.zip;
But running a latest version.. all ok. Not sure if this is complicating with the latest HTC driver installed.
BTW.. give the latest version for your device a try.
The latest is RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_ICS_40_S_hTC_Asia_WWE_2.17.707.3_Radio_2.1204.135.20_release_278245_signed.exe

What do you mean by 4.1 update ?
If sense 4.1, what you have now is sense 4.1, no more further update as this is the latest for sense 4.1.
If you mean the android 4.1.1 with sense 4+, maybe you need to wait a little bit longer before the update comes but you can try settings-about-software update-check now
But based on my experience with One S, I do not have update from 1.18 to 2.15; I have to manually update with RUU. Not sure if HTC stopped the OTA update when RUU is available.
So if there is no update, you can use the JB RUU to update to Sense 4+.

What do you mean by 4.1 update ?
If sense 4.1, what you have now is sense 4.1, no more further update as this is the latest for sense 4.1.

ow thanks once more, thankfully & luckily they already released the 4.1.1 with sense 4+ on OTA update, sense 4+ is amazing fast, my last sense experience was when I just bought my one x which was when sense 3 was just out, & I was disapointed, but now, I'm really surprised of it's smoothness & faster speed

[Q] Won't find software update

Hey guys,
A few months back I got a HTC ONE X and after an update I had multiple issues ( The 4.0.4 update ) which caused me to have to return the phone ( A day after I had purchased ) and receive a new one. I had no evidence that it was the update that caused this but for my piece of mind I steered clear of that update with the new phone and turned off scheduled update check.
After months of happily using 4.0.3 I think its finally time to upgrade my version of Android especially with Jelly bean being available for the phone. Being on 4.0.3 I know there is updates available yet when I check for up dates it tells me that my phone is fully up to date. The HTC is from O2 , and I can't see whats stopping my phone finding these updates. My network is working correctly ( Connected to wifi but tried searching on my mobile data as well)
Anyone got any ideas as to why this is not updating correctly? I knew if there was an answer then XDA would be the place to find it , thanks in advance guys ( and gals )
Have you checked multiple times manually for the update ?

My CID is showing as [HTC_001]
Oke then you have a unbranded handset from O2.....I hook you up with 2 ruu files
http://androidfiles.org/ruu/securek...Radio_2.1204.135.20_release_274900_signed.exe
And this one
http://androidfiles.org/ruu/securek...Radio_5.1204.162.29_release_302015_signed.exe
You have to put the phone in the bootloader and run the ruu from the pc with admin rights ......
Is your bootloader locked ?
The first ruu will bring you to android 4.0.4 then check manually for ota again to JB if that does not work you can run the second ruu . That's the JB ruu !
Tip : charge the battery to full before you start !

I don't know whether my boot loader is locked , if so would this be an issue ? and can it be unlocked ? then how do I place the phone in bootloader
Apologies for all the questions
Hold the power button and the volume - button down together ....dont let go of them until you are in the bootloader ...
All info is on top of the bootloader
It says
LOCKED, UNLOCKED or RELOCKED
if you can post all info there to here ....

It is LOCKED
Oke then you can run the 2.17 ruu file from the pc with admin rights ..... It will bring the phone back to original factory state. Backup things you need to keep, even stuff from the sdcard to be sure.
Keep the phone in the bootloader when you execute the ruu
And charge the batt first if it is not full

[Q] Begginer help

Hello, i just bought an HTC One X phone, it is running android 4.0.4 and sense 4.1 and it says in the info software version 2.17.401.2 , it is also rooted so i can't do OTA update. Now i want to have the latest officiel rom or custom rom ased on the official one, my question is where do i go from here, is it possible to go back to stock and do official update from there, or what do i have to do to, i don't mind using a custom made rom if it is a stable one.
EDIT: Some more info, the device says unlocked when i boot in recovery, i have standard recovery i think (white screen with 3 droids bottom)
HBOOT-0.96-0000
i can choose fastboot or recovery, simlock ...etc
Thanks for the tips guys.
I bet there is a ruu available for you with that low hboot, you ha e to put the phone fastboot mode/bootloader and run a fastboot command from the pc
Fastboot getvar version-main
Post that outcome here please and i can help you getting back to stock the easiest way !

The command says this
version-main: 1.29.707.11
finished. total time: 0.07s.
Oke, start with charging the phone to 100% i will get the links and things you need .....
Edit :
In steps :
Put the phone in fastboot usb mode and relock the bootloader with this command :
Fastboot oem lock
Then keep the phone in the bootloader and execute this ruu with administrator rights
http://www.androidruu.com/getdownlo...Radio_2.1204.135.20_release_278245_signed.exe
When the ruu is finished and the phone boots into the OS you go to the settings - about - software update menu and check manually for updates. When they are available you continue to install these updates (there should be multiple updates)
If you don't get updates you can report back here and i can help you further to get updated.

The RUU says asia, is it ok if my phone is from UK?
Then it's imported into the UK, that's probably why they put the 2.17.401 rom on it ! It's the correct ruu.
The phone is originally from Asia !
Ok i did the RUU but now i only have english and asian languages, can i flash a european RUU after this one now ? it's annoying like that for me
EDIT: it does not detect OTA updates, am i even more screwed now ? or is there hope to go back to stock european version ?
You have English ? Whats the difference then ? And no you are not screwed. Relax .... in the end when we are done it will be all fine.
Next step :
Run this ruu too and check then again for updates ......

It would be just great, i love the phone, great device like always by HTC, well now we have to wait with my slow internet to get all that done.
No problem. I will check here from time to time anyway. No rush.....rushing things ends up in errors
The phonei s finally updated to android 4.2.2 ad sense 5, but now i have a very strange WiFi issue, wifi works for 10-30 seconds then nothing, it says it is connected but i have no network or internet access until i turn it off and on again, what can that be ?
EDIT: After investigatin the forum a little, it seems like a lot of people are having the same issue after the update :s, well i will end up using custom roms i guess lol
