[Q] swap partition format - HTC Wildfire S

I made a swap partition on my sd card via recovery menu but it made my phone slow. Now i want to get rid of it. My sd card had sth like 7.5gb free space and after swap partition i have 6.8gb free on my sd card. On the recovery menu i have already format my sd, sd-ext and i have press all other format on the recovery menu. Still cant get the 7.5gb back. I will appreciate any help. Thanks

Use Minitool Partition Wizard on PC.
Format the Swap partition to FAT32 and merge it with your original.

[Q] Formatting problems

So i have a case. When i try to format/ reset factory settings via recovery i get this strange error that my sd-ext can't be formatted because of the /dev/block/mmcblk0 file existing. I don't know what to do. I have a stock sd card 2gb. Windows says that its 1.86GB. Any help?
Backup sdcard contents first.
Then don't format it from recovery. Just boot up the OS and format the memory card. But doing so deleted the extra partition also. It creates entire fat partition. Again you will have to repartition your sdcard to create ext again.
And if you still face errors, then there is a chance of sdcard being corrupted.

I've formatted it many times. Even downloaded mini tool partition wizard home edition(gpardted thingy windows version). Its still 1,86GB there's no partitions. Only a FAT32 card.
For a 2GB card you can only use around 1.8x GB . So I think it is correct. I just thought you had issue in formatting ext partition.

hang on... it doesn't allow you to format sd-ext because it doesn't exist.. EXT is a linux format, if your entire SD-Card is FAT-32 there's no EXT to format....

If you haven't made an EXT partition on your SD-Card then you will not be able to format SD-EXT because there is nothing to format... it's simple logic ... you can't delete something that doesn't exist
It said it does exist. Well, meh. I bought a new card. 8gb kingston ^^ 1gb ex3 partition

[Q] SD-ext gone

While trying to install a Data2ext-version of MIUI, I partitioned and formatted my SD-card (1,1GB ext4). Now, while trying to reboot and such, it says that the sd-ext isn't found. When I do a nandroid restore, the old rom works but isn't able to access the SD card, so that I only can be on the internal memory of the phone. Any help?
How did you.partition it? You're going to have to check the partition with gparted

I partitioned it with Minitool Partition Wizard. How do I check it if neither the computer not the smartphone doesn't even see it?
If the computer or phone doesn't see it, then you don't have one.
Reformat your sd and try again

Bah. Was afraid of that. You need a card reader or mount in recovery then use gparted. Nothing else. Especially not minitool. It's crap.

Can't you use clockwork or Rom manager to install sd-ext. Or use Gparted lol

There are so many ways, but only thing essential is partitioning your sd card.
Once done, you can flash different scripts like cronmod, darktremor etc. or use some apps like s2e or links2sd(SD-EXT is not compulsory for this, you can use FAT partition as well)
.
I have a 2GB sd card....
I need 2 partitions right ?
Fat32 for storage and ext2 for internal...?
How should i divide 2GB card ?

i would recommend 256mb sd ext for a 2gb sd card.
Ext 2 or Ext 4 ?

make it from cwm recovery, that will make an ext 3,rhis will eliminate the possibility of re formatting it to a different format while doing a data wipe.

no no,you getting me wrong.Your card will definately formatted during partitioning.
I wanted to say that if you create an ext 2,cwm most probably reformats it to ext 3 during a simple data wipe. This might create issues,to skip this I suggested you to partition it through cwm recovery.
Thanks anyways but i don't want to format my phone again

[Q] How to format new SD card?

Hello,
I've bought new SD card 32GB class 10 and I'm just curious how to format it with the possibility to choose partition type. Thanks and sorry if this topic was already discussed somewhere else.
Sent from my HTC Desire using xda app-developers app
Don't use a regular windows partition program like Easus Partition Master. I had to find it out the hard way
I got a hold of a micro sd to sd adapter and repartitioned it using SD Formatter 3.1.
But I understand using Gparted is the way to if you want to create an ext4 partition for use with the ROMs.
Have to say it took Gparted 15 (!) minutes to find my sd card; Not sure why...
Isn't it easier just using recovery to partition the card?

Only use 4ext recovery. CWM could break your sd-card.

Yep I agree. 4Ext recovery is the best to format the card. It takes care of the sequence of partitions and also the alignment.

Depends on what Rom you want to use.
Usually 1gb ext4 partition goes well with most of them. It's advised not to have your ext4 partition more than 1.5gb.
One ext4 partition and rest fat32.

I agree with this person except for a point. If you use an a2sd script, it is possible that you can fit a lot of roms as well as the dalvik cache and the data partition with 512mb ext4.
This way (if you are a bit careful with your choice of Roms, and don't use one of those huge sense ones) you can save half a Gb of Sd card, which to many people is precious.
Also, I give my recommendation to 4ext recovery as well. I am currently using the touch version of it for the past 6 months or so, and it is by far the best choice out there.
