Last night I tried rooting my 12 days old N7100 (Note 2). I succeeded, but somehow neither of my 2 SIMs were recognized anymore.
Since then I've tried many different custom ROMs (cyanogen, omega, hypernote...), all with the same result, "No SIM".
I've been flashing most of this through heimdall on OSX. I also installed some ROMs through CWM.
I learnt that my phone is an ALJ3 and I tried the stock ROM for that. And also for some other models.
Only one of the stock ROMs actually gets past the SAMSUNG logo, and that one also says "No SIM".
It almost seems as if Samsung built in some feature that wrecks the phone if you try to root it.
I'm not sure what I could try next except for giving up, buying a new phone (probably not a Samsung) and using this N7100 as a wifi-only tablet.
Meanwhile I found a long list of ROMs for the N7100 at grantbarker dot com - it'll take me a lot of time to try all of them. Is there any one that is more likely to give me a working SIM again?

Sorry to hear that mate, I know you are in a tight situation. Before flashing various roms, did you take the backup of the EFS partition by chance??? If yes, then try restoring it. If not, then go to the posted mentioned below, its a kinda rescue firmware with all parts of the firmware intact.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=32273406&postcount=5
This just might save your day if you haven't already tried this.

I already got "No SIM" at a point where I had not touched the SIM.
Same problem. Please help!
Sorry I am a toal noob to posting here.
But I am having the same problem!
I am having the accidentally installed omega rom for Verizon, I have att. Everything loaded but it wouldn't detect my sim. So I cleared caches and installed notorious prime but still no sim.
I then did a restore from the clockwork backup and still no sim.
Any help would be highly appreciated!
I'm thinking I might have messed up my kernel or fried my sim somehow?

Try the SIM in another phone use a MicroSIM to normal SIM converter if needed.
Both the micro SIMs I have work in other phones.
Installing a ROM usually also overwrites the kernel, from what I learned the SIM related stuff is in modem.bin, baseband or something similar. (You can unzip the zip and then untar the .tar.md5, which is a plain .tar file actually. That will usually give you a bunch of .img files, and modem.bin.)

Thank you for the response.

Well. I found your problem. Either you've flashed an i317 firmware on your n7100; or you've flashed an n7100 firmware on your i317. Find your model number, and use ODIN to flash the appropriate firmware. DO NOT USE CWM OR A CUSTOM FIRMWARE! RETURN TO WORKING STOCK VIA ODIN FIRST, THEN YOU CAN WORRY ABOUT ROOTING AND CWM!! AND DON'T TICK "REFORMAT" IN ODIN!! THAT'S A NO NO!! Use ExynosAbuse to root if you want. ROM Manager can give you CWM... I think. Appropriate firmwares are listed below.
If you've never used ODIN before, download it and Kies or current Samsung drivers on a Windows machine and follow Dr. Ketan's guide for flashing. It works a treat!
SGH-I317: http://www.hotfile.com/dl/181184536/fa1bbef/I317UCALJ2_I317ATTALJ2_ATT.zip.html
GT-N7100: http://www.hotfile.com/dl/185548129/fba59f8/N7100XXDLL4_N7100OXADLL4_XEF.zip.html
HINT: If you bought your Note II from AT&T in the United States, it's an SGH-I317, and you screwed up when you either flashed a GT-N7100 ROM, or at least a GT-N7100 modem. Without an exact account of what all you've done, I can't say for sure. But you definitely flashed something for the wrong device. Get back to working stock and report back.

From this it seems that an XXALJ3 ROM with an ALJ2 radio would do it.
So I thought N7100XXALJ3_N7100OXEALJ2_SER.zip would work but it didn't.
I also tried N7100XXALJ3_N7100OLBALJ3_XME.zip before.
I got the above information by going back to Hyper Note, as none of the stock ROMs has worked so far (except for the first of course..)
By the way, I bought this device in Germany.
I hope someone can give me some hints on how to continue, otherwise I'll have to head back to the store...
Thank you!
IT WORKED!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SENDING ME IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION!
Yes indeed I used a rom for the gt-n700, I have the sgh-i317.
One thing I am still confused about is why my CWM back up didn't resolve this? Nor did the noteorious rom...
Oh and I was having a lot of problems downloading from hotfile, stockroms dot net works much better (not limited download speeds).
Now I'm off to root and get NOTEorious rom on there!!
"note2nosim" find the correct firmware on stockroms .net (check the model name/number under battery)
Hopefully this will help otheres with this issue!

Your backup didn't take care of your problem because CWM doesn't backup or restore your modem. As for downloading stock ROMs, I'd just live with the speeds available via HotFile. SamMobile only ever uses HotFile and there is no more credible stock firmware source than SamMobile. Best of luck with your Note II. In the future, get your ROMs and support in the i317 forum here on XDA. There's no better source for ROMs, support, and device info.

Okay. ODIN-flash it completely back to stock. Don't flash recovery. Don't root. You can use the n7100 ROM I posted earlier. It's the latest. After flashing back to stock, boot into stock recovery and do a full wipe. Then reboot. Report back after you've done that.

Is there a way to do this with heimdall?

Happy it worked for you.
Under the battery it says
MODEL: GT-N7100
FCC ID: A3LGTN7100
SSN: -N7100GSMH
On stockroms.net that would give me N7100XXALJ3_N7100DBTALJ2_DBT.zip, which kinda matches my AP/CP/CSC strings.
I'll probably first try N7100XXDLL4_N7100OXADLL4_XEF.zip, as suggested by Mister_Mxyzptlk.
(Also because I already started downloading this _XEF file with hotfile.)

I did this, with N7100XXDLL4_N7100OXADLL4_XEF, it doesn't get past the bluish "SAMSUNG".
And now also no luck with the N7100XXALJ3_N7100DBTALJ2_DBT ROM.
Is there a way to see why it stalls at the SAMSUNG logo?

Many have been requesting the ROM itself as there have been issues flashing it via KIES (gee, no wonder). I'm uploading the full copy so you can flash it via ODIN... This ROM is the exact same copy you will get from KIES, with NO MODIFICATIONS.
Download Here. This is for the LATAM version of the GT-I9000T FULL ROM, should work as well in other areas with the 850 Band.

Extracted from the latest Official Gingerbread 2.3.3[I9000TUBJV6] for the I9000T (thanks to caribbean_spur for the heads-up in this thread )
I flashed it myself and its working fine and fast! Download Here
Just flash it via ODIN under PHONE, select the file and you're set (don't tic repartition or other options, Keep It Simple). At the moment I haven't created a CWM version to flash it directly from the ROM; my guess is ODIN is the safest way to go.
CM7 Version (just tested under MIUI MCGv4.3 and v5.1, working fine) Flash via CWM
Post your results and enjoy!
that's mean that there is official 2.3.3 I9000T version? with I9000T 2.3.3 bootloader?

It's working with MIUI 2.3.4, 2.6.35.7-GlitchV9 Kernel. I guess the only way you can find out is same as me ... TEST!
I've tested it so far with Stock 2.3.3 and MIUI.
Saludos.
CWM version attached. Not sure if it's working, will test it in a second.
Granted it should work but I may have messed up.
Thanks
Working on JVH
Oh my God! I flashed it over JL2 in CM7/MIUI and it went from 2 bars to 4 bars! There is no way to force a band in CM7, so JL2 kept on reverting to the inferior 900 band.
The GPS didn't work at first. Then I looked up the right ntp server from http://www.pool.ntp.org/zone/@. Mine was ca.pool.ntp.org. I got a fix but it keeps switching between 0 satellites and 6 satellites. The fix isn't as stable as JL2.
Altogether- JV6 must be focusing on the 850 band because I'm getting four bars now. This is good news for anyone in Canada!!!!

Not the same thing. You can't force band selection under cm7.

Well, I lost my IMEI flashing to CM7 also, there is a guide in my signature how to backup/restore the IMEI(only if you have the nv_data file) , that's a MUST The most important file ANYONE should keep handy is the nv_data.bin
It actually depends on which ROM you come from, I didn't lose anything when flashing to this, so everyone will have a different results.
It's not ONLY for 9000Ts, Its a 850Mhz Oriented modem (very popular in Latin America, Australia, Canada, Caribbean, Mexico, Argentina and Brasil). I have flashed 9000m, and 9000 ROMs on my SGS, all are the same. The only "functional" thing that changes are the CSCs and the Modems.

were you able to adjust to a 850 signal? I am running latest MIUI and still haven't figured out if it's hardware or a modem.bin that can dictate an 850 signal. I would love to run 3G on my i9000 international but it's still a mystery to me.
Would be grateful to hear if anyone has some insight.
BTW I flashed it last night...batter life is significantly better but still on EDGE only.
Deodexed UBJV6 CWM package
This is the deodexed UBJV6 CWM package which have been requested by some members now:

UBJV6/UBJV6/UUBJV6: Download (159.5 MB) (Double-Click to extract) MD5:c27a5d73dc5f6c23c206b7cad57bba3d
As you all know by now so you need to have GB bootloaders in order to run GB firmware, this means that the same rules applies to this package as it does with the stock GB, Froyo bootloaders are no-go.
I haven't tested this package on my device (don't have I9000T), so I cannot tell how it performs, I hope that you will not face any problems using it.
Good luck to all of you.

First, if you are on CM10.2, your grand is not unrooted like you mentioned in post #2. Your phone was rooted when you completed flashing recovery and SuperSU
Secondly, CM10.2 is an under-development ROM, and currently supports only 1 SIM. And yes phone reboot is an issue they are trying to solve at the moment. It's only available so users can test and report back what's working in the new build and provide logcats so they look the problem.
The externalSD card issue has been solved in the recent builds already
To get back on stock you will need to flash the 4.2.2 firmware through Odin or flash any 4.2.2 stock-based ROM like GENNXT, RVR's stock based ROM or X-PeriaZ flavor through CWM recovery
If you flash your firmware again, you will have to repeat the recovery flashing method (this will have have to do done whenever you flashing any firmware through Odin)
GENNXT - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2196558
XperiaZ Flavor - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2304492
RVR - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2537603

Hi iceyhotguy
Tanx for the info. Very helpful. I'll follow your suggestion. Please does GENNXT support dual sim?
I'll be on the lookout for when the dual sim issue is fixed in CyanogenMod.
Many tanx.

Hi guys, firstly i wanna thank you for this wonderfull forum, i've been reading it in and out for the last 3-4 weeks.
I managed to successfully root and flash a HTC one, a HTC desire, my good Samsung s4, and then..
A friend of mine has an LG Optimus g pro f240s, bought from Amazon - from Korea SK Telecom, we live in Europe (Austria).
As we had some security problems with the old (not updated for a long time) software 4.2.2 early this year, we decided to flash a custom Rom.
That is where the trouble begins. Now, i managed to root the LG Optimus G PRO and to install a Cyanogenmod ROM.
Everything was fine, except there has been NO SIGNAL.
Then, a week later - the new Stock software came in 4.4.2 and i have tried to update it through the official software, and i also have followed the guides here on XDA developers (the ones with adb interface, marwin2, https server, and so on). Nothing.
Then i have discovered that my WIN 8 computer is not the ideal environment for this operation, so i've installed WIN7 and tried once more.
I have been able to flash the stock based LGViet Rom 4.4.2, also found on this forums. Still have been getting service disabled.
Then the official APP from LG has finally been reading the phone, so i have made an official update, now having the official - stock version of 4.4.2 LG SK Telecom software.
The modem reads the same one that was there upon buying the phone (original one), the phone behaves normally, but - SERVICE DISABLED!!!
Please help, i have no root, no custom recovery now, but a very good looking tablet without being able to do phone calls!
I have been thinking - could this be an SIMLOCK issue? I have bought the unlock codes, but i do not have the original SK Telecom Sim, so there is no way to enter them. I have tried these codes 2945#*240# or 2945#*975#, but there is just NO POP UP menu to enter the codes!
What should i do to get the service working?
Thank you
EDIT:
the phone reads phone number and IMEI correctly,
HW info:
Model nr LG-F240S
Serial number correct
Android version 4.4.2
Baseband APQ8064/MDM9x15M
Kernel 3.4.0
Build Nr KOT 491.F240Se
SW Version F240S20e
nobody having an idea? please?
Issue : LG Optimus G PRO F240S, rooted, then back to stock--> LGViet 4.4.2 Rom, then Stock by the LG stock tool
problem: SERVICE DISABLED
idea 1 - is it Sim Lock?
idea2 - no idea
pls
Have you tried *#*#4636#*#*?

Hello everybody,
I,ve read all around the forum but I couldn´t find information about my problem so i try it here.
From stock V500 20d I rooted and Installed TWRP 2.7.1.0 thanks to the good information in the Forum. After that, I've installed the ROM CM11 (M10) and, from the first reboot, the screen bright is very low. I hardly could do the first configuration and when it finished I selected the full bright.
After some time working it seems that it recovers some bright and I can down a little bit the bright from top.
Every time I restart the device I have the same bright issue.
Can anyone help me?.
Thanks a lot

Extremely common problem when you were on the 4.4.2 base and are now an AOSP based rom. You either need to change kernels to RedKernel or flash the tablet back to the 4.2.2 base and then reflash your CM rom.

Ok it´s done
First I´ve installer V500-4.2.2-Base from recovery, I have reinstalled CM 11 and everything OK.
I have tried a step beyond and I have installed [KERNEL][v500][4.4.4][AOSP] RedKernel [16/09] (everybody seems to be very happy with it) but, after install synapse I run it and appears "No UCI support detected". Seems that kernel doesn´t support it.
Thank you again for your help

You must install the UKM scripts from recovery. Read the op from the red kernel thread...

What he said!
This confused me at first too. In the very early days of redkernel he included his own forked version of the UKM scripts those have been removed because the UKM script maintainer agreed to merge his changes and therefore he doesn't have to maintain his own copy (better for all involved so he can focus on kernel development). Search the thread you will find a link to where you can download the official UKM scripts and your problem will go away.
I currently run redkernel on the 4.4.2 base myself. I have not reverted to the 4.2.2. base since my last factory restore. I am very happy with this configuration...

I had the same problems. Mine was two fold, my sd card was dying (I have since got a new one) and the 4.4.2 base was still sometimes having an issue that sd card monitor would show as a bad removal. This was even with the new sd card. Once I switched to Infected's build of slimkat with the redkernel I have not had a bad removal (after running this way now for over a month) and the sd card monitor used to track at least one bad removal a week with stock 4.4.2. I have no idea if this will help others but it is working so far for my device. I am always running sd card monitor since I had problems and it is still reporting a clean record.

You didn't ask, but my approach would be:
Use LG tool to revert to 4.4.2 stock
Root with towel root
Install recovery and loki (I need to get you a link for this, but it involves editing a batch file to tell it to still install with revision d instead of b)
reboot recovery using adb, and immediately unplug cable
flash a recovery designed for 4.4.2 (2.7.0.1) from this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2551499
Then install infected slimkat, redkernel and the ukm zip files
I never use the 4.4.2 base files to flash the device to 4.4.2 I always use the LG Tool and go from there.

Just curious … is there something wrong with flashing the base files to switch between 4.2.2 and 4.4.2?
Now that I have two Gpad's I plan to install 4.4.2 base on one and compare it with 4.2.2 base on the other. Just wonder if I can tell any difference.
Thanks for the info.

I am unaware of a problem with the 4.4.2 base files provided. I have just never used them, I already had the LG Support Tool downloaded and it was easiest to use the path I knew and was comfortable with.
The key thing (and why I run the 4.4.2 base instead of the 4.2.2. base) that is different is the brightness at its lowest setting. The 4.2.2 base on many of the V500's suffers from alternating light and dark spots on one side of the tablet when viewing the tablet in low light with the brightness at its lowest setting and viewing gmail (any app with a white background basically). I use my tablet mostly in dark conditions like this (man I make it sound like I live in a basement somewhere *laughs*). The 4.4.2 base firmware changes the tablet so it functions well at the lowest brightness.
The first picture in this thread shows the screen problem I refer to (although not on a white screen):

Hi Guys,
I have switching roms in these few months. Recently, I tried to use back the stock rom N7105XXUFOB2. Everything went normal until I found 2 problems:
1. imei is blank with /01 when typing *#06#, but baseband was shown and I can still get the network. (My mistake for not backing up the efs folder)
2. GPS not found, tried with google map and waze but same issue. Tried with gps status also to no solution. (No satellite at all)
Then, I went for customs rom, GPS works and network works as per normal but with imei blank and baseband display. Anyone got idea on how to resolve it?
Appreciated if anyone can help.
Where did you get the stock ROM? Is that the latest stock ROM for the phone?
I found these stock ROMs: https://updato.com/firmware-archive-select-model?exact=1&q=GT-N7105

I have forgotten where I downloaded it. But definitely not sammobile as it requires user login.
Below is the version I use.
PDA/AP Version: N7105XXUFOB2
CSC Version: N7105OLBFOD1
MODEM/CP Version: N7105XXUFNI2
Region: Singapore (singtel)
Are you saying that the stock rom I am downloading is not genuine or somehow corrupted?
Is that possible that imei blank, baseband still around and mobile signal works as per normal? Because I am facing it. lol.
By the way, in 4.4.2, is there anyway to do screen mirroring to samsung tv? Firstly, it mentions 'Unable to Start Screen Mirroring because of Hardware Issues'. Then I checked online and edit build.prop file by adding in “wlan.wfd.hdcp=disable“. Then the hardware issue quote is gone but the tv screen is blank.
I would flash the latest stock ROM from updato.com.
I'm not sure how you can get any cell or data service from your carrier without success valid IMEI.

Ya, it is very weird. But just to confirm again. If I reflash the rom from the website you mentioned, Is that possible to fix the blank imei issue? I think it is going to be 50-50.
I have tried googled this issue, I found some said to change imei using mtk tool, does it apply to galaxy note 2 as it mentioned works for Mediatek devices and not sure about others?
Just a friendly reminder that XDA does not permit any discussions related to changing an IMEI.
Flashing the latest stock ROM will sometimes being back the IMEI.

Understood. I found the same rom in updato, just wonder why some roms with same android version but different pda version so late? (Eg, France (Orange) (FTM), N7105XXUFQH1, 4.4.2- 17 Sept 2017)
Is it just because the rom is being updated late in updato?
Different ROMs for different regions and carriers. Not all ROMs have the same languages too.

Understood and thanks for your explanation. For stock firmware, do you have problem doing screen mirroring to smart TV?
Unfortunately, I can't comment on mirroring because I haven't had a Samsung phone for a while.

Oh I see, never mind then.
The problem on the stock firmware is that manufacturer has already abandoned the phone. Therefore, many apps have been discontinued and that's why the screen mirroring is not working. But I trully love the stock camera app compared with custom rom. :crying:
Now I'm using custom rom and will continue monitoring first.
Anyway, thanks again.
I think the note 2 has decent hardware and could probably run 6.0 with no problem but Samsung would sell fewer phones

Ya, you are right. I am not using custom rom resurrection remix nougat version. The camera is not as smooth as the stock camera which is sad for me. My wife did complain to me that the phone with this rom was lagging, which led me to back to stock firmware.
But now I am back to same rom so far is ok, only that I need to make sure the phone can run smoothly and I will be happy to use it. Cheers.
