I am using the stock clock. I put the phone on airplane mode and set the alarm clock before going to bed, and it does not go off in the morning.
Oddly, in the day, if I set the alarm to go off in say 20 min, it works even if I put the phone on airplane mode.
What is the cause of this problem? and is there a solution?
BTW, I am using the custom ROM type 2 from: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2016575

try to download Alarm Clock Xtreme. It is a very good app
I only use the clock for alarm and dont need other fancy features. I feel the problem is not about the app. It seems to me there is problem with deep system deep sleep since it happens only after deep sleep for a long time. Of course this is only my guess.

I'm using the stock alarm program and 3/5 times I've set an alarm nothing has happened when the alarm is supposed to go off. It always works when I set it to go off the next minute as a test case, but it's very unreliable for overnight use.
Any similar experiences or thoughts on why this happens?
Mines never not worked used it every day since I had the phone - I assume you are leaving the phone switched on right?
Did you kill the alarm&clock app (with Taskiller for example) ? This app needs to be active if you want it to work.
Mine works. Screen goes to sleep, alarm wakes it and me up no sweat.
Sorry, I actually figured it out right after posting, but yes the app is probably being closed sometime during the night. I put it on my ignore lists, it's too bad the alarm isn't some sort of a system service.

Try using alarm clock plus from market. It's a much improved alarm.
I'm on Chuppa Rom (latest build) and I seem to be having an issue with my notifications and my alarm.
My alarms: I have timely and Alarm Clock Xtreme on because I've had bad experiences with the stock alarm app in the past. Timely still rings the alarm but not at the time I set. Maybe a few minutes later after the time I've set it to. My Alarm Clock Xtreme doesn't even ring. I have the notification of the next alarm on my notification tray as do I have the widget on the home screen. Also, my WhatsApp notifications too come in late (sometimes by half an hour!!). My sync is turned on so I don't know what else I can do.
Please advise,

Did your greenify those apps?
Also, the new "Quiet mode" seems to silence alarms as well so make sure it isn't turned on during your alarms or give them priority.

Yeah, I was quite 'alarmed' cool by that feature, lol. I've made sure it's always turned off.

Greenify is amazing, just don't use it on alarms app as they might not 'wake' to wake you up
There's also a notification setting (for wakelocks) which you should go over, make sure those apps aren't turned off or limited.

I just realised that Greenify hibernates app and not keeps them 'awake, lol.
That won't fix the issue of it always forgetting to wake me up.
Any idea how to proceed?

Greenify was more of a side note. I only mentioned it cause I did greenify my alarms before without thinking that it wouldn't go off.
But you should check your app notification settings (in your phone settings). It's a wakelock control that was added with Lollipop.

I'm sorry, I seem to be a little lost. I tried looking for the wakelock control but to no avail :\
What does the wakelock control do? Does it keep apps awake (that I need to apply it to my alarm app)?

If you don't know what/were it is, chances are the it's not the issue. It is used to turn off wakelock notifications but by default, they should be activated. More details here
Do you have any app that help you phone's battery or 'speed boosters'?
Here, try this:
Settings, sound then notifications and clock, checked the priority option, then selected turned on priority sound profile.
did you find out what was causing it not to ring? Im always paranoid my alarm is going to fail lol

Sorry for the late reply. I just noticed my notifications now. I don't tend to login too often.
My UI seems to be on sleep mode for some reason. As in, I'll unlock the phone wondering why no alarm went off and notice that the 3 different clocks I have on my homescreen as widgets all show the time from a few hours back and then after a couple of seconds refresh and show the correct time at which the alarm from 10 minutes ago now begins to ring. I still don't know what's causing this. All this time I've been using my old phone as my alarm. I'm thinking of moving onto another ROM. Maybe an AOSP one despite the bugs just because of this bug. If anyone has any ideas on how to fix this problem it would be much appreciated.

No, and no. Sometimes it'll ring like usual. Other times it won't even ring. I suspect it's because the clock function sometimes tends to lag out and go unresponsive. You know how sometimes if you've got multiple windows open then later on you go back to one of them and everything has to be drawn up again as though it wasn't running at all in the background and that it was turned off for the time being? That's how my clock seems to operate. I can see that when I unlock my phone for a short moment the time is the time a few hours ago and it needs to resync for a second before it displays the correct time. Other times it's responsive and it tells the correct time and in those instances the alarm rings without issue. But every 3 or 4 times, it turns unresponsive on me and my alarm doesn't kick in.

Do you have a App ops in your settings? Where you could give the clock app priority or whitelist it.
Otherwise, I remember reading about someone fixing that issue setting his alarms with the calendar app, not ideal but it's a workaround.
Did you found any way to let the alarm ring when the phone if completely off.
I really want to avoid keeping the phone on (even in airplane mode) since Android OS is comsuming so much.
Thanks a lot for your help.

If you mean that phone is totally powered off, then, how is the clock going to run when there's no power?

I've had previously two phones, one with a schdules downtime and uptime so that was not an issue and another (Xiaomi Redmi note) which the alarm clock was ringing when the phone was off.
So, i am getting a bit lost since i don't have see any scheduled downtime and uptime as told, the alarm clock doesn't ring when the phone is off.

Unless there's a timer to turn the phone on/off in which case the phone is not really powered off but in "hibernation" aka standby mode.

@gontie..you might want to check the posts is "zenfone 2 battery better or the same". Some users have reported reasonable battery performance. Hope this helps in the meantime. ☺

I'm curious. How does it work? The phone is completely powered down and the alarm can turn the phone on (with all the start up logo and whatnots)? sorry but I don't have the OPO and still waiting for Zf2.
I don't but it did turn itself on and then off when I stopped the alarm.

Which means the phone was actually "on" when the alarm went off. When the alarm was stopped, the phone rebooted?
No it was turned off as I had battery issues.
Ok..I learnt something here. Apparently the OPO does have this feature. Unfortunately I am not using one so was pretty curious about this feature.

I don't think the Zenfone 2 has this feature..
My previous phone is OPP* Find 5 Mini, when the phone is completely off because battery is drained in the night, i plug the power and go to sleep, in the morning which i set the specific time for alarm, the phone will "boot up" and rings.
Since the upgrade to Android 6.0.1 my alarm clock(Alarm Clock Plus) does not go off when it is supposed to. It worked fine until the update. I don't know if Doze is causing this or if it's the new Samsung app power saving setup? I have the alarm clock app excluded from ever saving power but it still doesn't go off. It seems like the hours that I'm sleep puts the app in deep sleep because when I pick the phone up and cut on the screen it went off which was about 11 minutes after it was scheduled one day and 8 the next. Also if I set an alarm, say 5 minutes from now as an example, it will go off though.
The stock alarm is working for me. .. It could be just a problem with alarm clock plus. .

Hi everyone,
i don't know whether my problem is related to the N Preview i'm running or not. Maybe it's the same on marshmallow, i don't know.
When battery saver mode is on (battery < 15%), my alarms do not work. Only the alarm app "Sleep (like android)" does work. Both google clock alarms and Alarm clock extreme do not work in energy saver mode, even though i set them up as "do not optimize" in the battery preferences.
Any idea what to do?
Thanks a lot

Well I just manually turned on Battery Saver, set an alarm, and it worked fine. I'm at 80% right now so can't test it at 15% and lower for a little while.

I think the latest versions of Alarm Clock xTreme just set the actual alarm using the built-in alarm feature, probably because it was too much work to navigate all the constant changes in battery and security. Theoretically it should work as long as the built-in alarm works.
Okay. Thanks for the answers. I still encounter the problem. I have no idea whats causing it.
