How to get back to Stock One X - HTC One X

Hi there,
now I really need your help,
I read the thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1859714
But fastboot returns
version-main: 1.28.207.9
I can`t find a RUU for that?
So is it right that if I don`t have a nandroid-backup, I can`t return to stock at the moment?

What's your cid ? Is it a branded or a unbranded device ?
Do fastboot command
Fastboot oem readcid

Thank you for your quick reply.
Its an unbrandend device.
Here is the result:
(bootloader) DEBUG: cid: O2___102
OKAY [ 0.140s]
finished. total time: 0.140s
Thank you

Its a branded device ! Your cid starts with O2
---------- Post added at 02:14 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:03 PM ----------
What you can try to do is to flash a nandroid backup matching your cid number, the nandroid will have a higher software number so it will start with 2.17.207.**. Do a full wipe and restore that nandroid with the boot.img and after that you flash back the 2.17 stock recovery and you are back on stock to obtain the JB update !

Ok, there is one existing.
Flashing now.
What I am wondering about, I bought the device without a contract, so it should be unbranded.
This device is my girlfriends, I bought the same device in another store and my cid is HTC__102...

Strange ? HTC__102 is unbranded yes, O2__102 is from a carrier if i'm not mistaken ! Otherwise it also should be HTC__102
You bought it from a store ? Or second hand ? And you are running it with the O2 carrier ?

Ok,
I am back on stock now
Thanks for that!!
But I am sure it was an unbranded device...
Could it be that the CID is modified by flashing a ROM?

Well actually not that i know of ! The fastboot command gives the real cid from the phone and not a software generated cid number !
Now you are on stock 2.17 software .... if you flash back the 2.17 stock recovery you are also ready to update to JB when the provider rolls it out !
This is the stock 2.17 recovery

So,
everything seems to be fine now.
I flashed the stock-recovery, however, o2 did not release an update until now.
Though I still can`t beliebe that its a branded o2 device.
Thank you again for your help Mr Hofs :good:
I hope some other people find this thread useful, too.

Hello friends, I really don't know if this is the correct thread but I will give it a try ...I bought an HTC ONE X and my problem is that I took the phone from a friend of mine and it had ARHD installed already (with hboot 1.28.0000 and 3.14.401.600 and HTC__01).
I managed to flash hboot 1.39.0000 and I download RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_JB_45_S_HTC_Europe_3.14.401.27_Radi o_5.1204.162.29_release_298897_signed.exe !! I am trying to flash the stock rom as you understand but whatever I did I get error in the update process of the RUU (error 55, then 155 I think). My bootloader is relocked right now and I really don't know what to do. I have search a lot of topics, I am reading from yesterday but I can't make the phone work. Should I flash something else (like boot.img) ??
Many thanks for your help.

You updated the hboot to 1.39 and i think the ruu comes with hboot 1.36 so that's a downgrade to the hboot and that is not possible ! I think that's why you get an error !
You should unlock the bootloader again and flash the custom recovery and then flash a custom rom......or a stock like custom rom....

Do you have the stock nandroid backup ?
Strange.....i never saw somebody brick his phone by running a ruu
But you should have took a backup from the original Rom.
Flash is.back with its boot.img after that you download the 3.14 stock recovery and you are done !

 well if you don't want to run the ruu you have to extract the rom.zip and the boot.img. I have the stock recovery here
http://db.tt/1aAq4ihB
Run the ruu WITHOUT the phone connected, it will create a temp folder (search for the newest temp folder) it will contain the Rom.zip with the boot.img inside (at least i assume that, as i never did this)
Flash the boot.img, perform a full wipe and flash the rom, boot into android to confirm that it works and then flash the stock recovery

Hmm i think you are stuck to a custom rom for a while until there is a matching nandroid or ruu available, i don't see them......but you say the phone is bootlooping ?
What has been changed ?
You can get into the bootloader ? If yes , you can flash the boot.img file from the rom again and you can flash the rom itself again .....

Well basically you need to find a ruu that matches the main version number, you need one exactly like that one starting with 1.28 or 1.29 or 3.14 then you can return to stock.....
Or you need a nandroid backup matching the cid and main version
I checked htcruu.com but there is no ruu for you, only one with a lower version number (but you can't use that one because downgrading is not possible)
Maybe there is one available on the file factory but i don't have an account there

You have to read the instructions how to, i have never done this method so i know as much as you do about it
But yes you have to do some reboot locking and flashing procedures, that's all i know about it
But backup the sdcard before you start doing the updating because locking and Re-unlocking wipes everything !!!

No CID

A friend of mine bought a almost new One X and in fastboot the cid says NONE. It is a Vodafone (not locked) rom with Hboot 0.95.000 with software version 1.29.161.13.
Can he wipe the device (with or without root) and flash a WWE rom?
-Edit- CID is VODAP102.
Is it possible to somehow wipe the device and change the cid to E_11 and flash a WWE RUU?
LOL, he has a ViperX background after factory reset and the bootloader says locked, maybe the device was bricked and repaired.
He should try fastboot oem readcid instead of fastboot getvar cid.

if you can boot into custom recovery (TWRP), then I don't see why you wouldn't be able to flash a custom rom, without rooting.
I would definitely reccomend you make a backup first, before flashing a custom ROM.
I'm also unfamiliar with Hboo 0.95.000. Research to make sure you don't have to fastboot flash the boot.img, before flashing the custom ROM.

No its not possible t change the CID, and no he can't use a different RUU. If he wants to use a RUU te numbers from the main version has to match ! He has to unlock the bootloader with the HTCDev site and flash a custom recovery to flash roms.
And when the CID comes out as VODAP102 it's def locked to the carrier otherwise it should say HTC__CIDnumber
and some more info : Hboot 0.95 means he was originally on a software version 1.29.***.** that's android 4.0.3.....most phones have already been upgraded to hboot 1.12 (software 2.17.***.**) and then the JB versions (software 3.14.***.** and up)

I'm a newbie but i just bought an htc one x international version and i guess from my constant flashing im totally stuck on the htc bootscreen and im sure i've tried everything there is to try but nothing although the roms all flash as well as the boot image, i've given up and am going to return my phone back to factory state and i've read i need an RUU but i don't want to flash the wrong one and i don't know which is the right one for my phone:
CID: HTC_622 not sure what that means but if someone can point me in the right direction or tell me how to even tell the proper one from the cid#. i'd really appreciate it.
please and thank you

It's a list of RUUs, and he can just search his CID (with Ctrl + F) to get the download. Thought that would get him his RUU faster rather than having to wait for somebody to find out for him. Apologies for any harm done.

No mate its NOT a list of ruu's....its a list of nandroid backups. Installing them is completely different from a ruu ! No harm is done mate, don't worry. But its kinda wrong info.
A ruu, Rom Update Utility is an .exe file which you eexecute from the pc to the phone in bootloader mode with a locked bootloader which will flash back everything to stock for you. A nandroid backup has to be installed like a rom. Flashing the boot.img, wiping the phone and restoring the nandroid with a custom recovery

Yes that is possible, but we need his main version to determine his hboot version. If he is on a older hboot than 1.12 then a 3.14 ruu will not work. If its released in the first place. Because of the big difference in updating the hboot from such a low one to a very high one. It all stands and falls depending the version number.
And when he is still on a 1.12 hboot we can't use a 3.14 nandroid backup

Fastboot getvar version-main
From the command prompt on the pc in the fastboot folder

I don't see the ruu you need so you need to go here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1975140
Download the matching nandroid backup and restore it, including flashing the boot.img from the nandroid backup. Then you are back to stock JB .....
ukrsetse morris
awesome that's great thanks alot, im going to give it a try now. little scared to mess it up but here it goes i'll post results.
Make sure you charge the battery before you start and dont forget to do a full wipe in the recovery before you restore the actual nandroid

[Q] Stuck in fastboot! Locked Bootloader! Wich RUU?

Hey,
i was using AndroidRevolution HD 9.7.2 (ICS), for warranty purposes I have to get back to stock now. It's my friends device and it had no nandroid of the stock rom, so i wanted to revert it trough the original RUU. Unfortunately I used the wrong RUU and now i'm stuck in fastboot with locked bootloader. I picked the wrong RUU because I didn't found a matching one, so i used the HTC_Europe_1.29.401.12 ICS RUU.
Htcdev.com is down, so the only way to get it back to stock is through the original RUU, but I don't know which i have to use, can someone help me pls?
Version:
1.29.65.11
CID:
ORANG216
Are you sure your version number is right ? Never seen that number around !
Did you do
Fastboot getvar version-main
I have seen the orange *.**.069 and the 61 but never the 65 !
hi,
yes i used the correct fastboot command.
The version is correct, it's the Orange_Switzerland number: x.xx.65.x, the number is also listed in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1660807
Ah yes you are very right sir, but nonetheless i don't see a ruu for you anywhere .... Maybe your firmware is listed in the collection thread. I check for you now !
Yes its there for you
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1957376
Its the firmware package that will lift your hboot to 1.36. After that you can flash any rom you want !
Edit : sorry you want to go to stock for warranty !
---------- Post added at 07:27 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:18 PM ----------
The only thing i can think of to get you back to stock is like this !
First you flash the firmware to get the hboot to 1.36, then you go here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1975140
You download the 2.17 nandroid backup orange 001 ! Restore it completely and flash back the 2.17 stock recovery ..... Then you reboot the phone and go into softwareupdates and check manually for the JB OTA. And install it !
Snap! I forgot to check that thread, thanks a lot. After installing the firmware package, can I install the HTC_Europe JB RUU?
No never.....do as i described in the post above .... that's the only option you have now that i know of !
So flash the CORRECT firmware then you restore the 2.17.65 nandroid backup ! Yes the 2.17 one !!! Then you update to stock JB from orange from within the phones update menu !
hey,
since I had a locked bootloader i couldn't enter the recovery to flash the backup. Today htcdev.com came back online, so I unlocked the bootloader again. Now i wanted to flash the stock_nandroid but there's an 404 error on the 2.17 version. Isn't there a way to go back to stock through a RUU?
You are going to be 1 lucky bastard mate !!! I found a link on the 2.17.65 ruu ! It should work ....link is coming
Ow wait one thing ! Did you update the hboot already ???

CRAP ! now you need the nandroid backup
now you have to wait on the reply matt is getting in the collection thread
But you can flash any JB rom out here now.....so at least that's something
Something had to go wrong
Well, i contacted matt95 from the Nandroid_Backup collection thread and he contacted the uploader.
I hope it will soon be online again. :good:
So the only way now, would be with the JB Orange x.xx.64.x RUU?
Isn't there a way of downgrading the hboot back to 0.95?
no unfortunately not.....sorry mate, and yeah i saw your reply already in the collection thread. it will work out you know....just some more extra patience
Thank you for the help and the quick responses! :good:
