Hey guys...
Just wanted to post this little find. I haven't seen it posted before, so I apologise if I missed that thread...
Try this...
Open an application with the settings button in the bottom corner.
Switch off screen
Switch on screen
Do you have the settings button in the same corner? Press it... screen unlocks
Shortcut or flaw?

Oh wow, never noticed that before. I can't think of any benefit of it so it likely to be a bug.

The online kitchen over at MoDaCo has an option to disable 'menu key unlock'. I'm assuming this is referring to this issue (if it is an issue) but I may be wrong.

don't get this option. is it something to turn on in Settings?
Did you also notice that you can access the notification bar from the lock screen?
Can't be a feature, surely?

That is actually a feature. Quite useful if you don't have a pattern/pin/face lock setup.

it is most definitely a feature, and was demoed at the first unveiling of the phone back in October.

Actually neither does the originally noted shortcut work when the pin is on

Can someone explain what the purpose of the settings button is in this context? Is it just another way to unlock the screen? Why does it only appear in the given scenario?
Also, why do the back and home buttons appear when you drag down the notifications bar?
They do not appear to be functional, but can be pressed. I suppose the back button makes sense, as it dismisses the notification panel, but the home button does not appear to be functional.
I opened facebook, the menu button was there. I turned off screen, then turned it back on. the menu button was there on my lock screen but when I pushed it, nothing happened. phone did not unlock. I use pattern unlock.

More than likely, the menu button being on the lock screen is just a glitch that really shouldn't be there. The good news is that if you have a lock other than the slide lock (Pattern, Password, Pin, Face) the the menu button on screen does nothing.
It's already been reported to google as a bug. It only happens if you have an insecure lock method (swipe, or none).
Is there a way to shut off the choice part for actions we do on our phone? Every room I install I get this issue where if you pinch the home screen in to select which one of the screens you want the phone says" home screen edit page open" then when you select s page or will say "work space 2 of 3" poor how ever many home screens you got. Everything is turned of in the accessibility post in the settings. I even flashed back to stock and it is still there. Is there a easy to shut it off or delete the sound files for that?

Hey guys,..
I dont know what its actually called so i dont know how to search for it on the forums.
But you know when your phone is disabled or in lock screen, it can show you this overview of the time and missed calls and messages and battery status for a second?
Is there a setting to disable it?
I think its kinda annoying and it sometimes comes up when i try to unlock the screen which is even more annoying.
Thanks.
You tried "Settings - Lock screen" ?
Yes,.. do you see any setting there that enables this?
Settings.... motion. .... quick glance. . Is that what you mean?

Yesss. That was the one. Thanks for that!
Hello,
My Galaxy Note 2 has been doing something strange the last few days.
The swipe to unlock screen comes on in addition to any other locking screen lock mode (pattern, pin). Even if I disable "With swipe lock" under settings/Lock Screen.
The swipe screen also ignores any settings under "Lock screen options" and always comes up with the default shortcuts and camera. Which means anyone can get to my email, browser or camera without unlocking the phone.
This seems like a bug. Anyone else encountered this?

i had similar problem... the lockscreen image used to flash often.... on my stock rom...
anyways.... its not happening now on JoelDroid N2 V3
It turned out to be some stupid Homebase app that installed itself along with another app. I'm not sure which app was the offender since I uninstalled a bunch at and haven't reinstalled them all yet to figure out which one it was.
My screen no longer rotates when I turn my phone. I cannot seem to find the setting to change it? Did something change in the most recent update that took away screen rotation? Any help is appreciated.

It didn't change. It's still in the Quick Settings (see User Manual).
Here's what I got
You know that you can scroll the quick settings and edit them
