I have the latest Tmobile multitasking update on my phone and want to root but don't want to change the status to read 'modified'. Anyone know best way to root (stock rom) without flashing counter? Thanks.

mrRobinson's root66. ExynoAbuse by chainfire is super easy as well.
Hastily spouted for your befuddlement
I would advise mrRobinsons root66 because I am not sure how Exynos abuse will work after samsung patches this vulnerability.

I wondered the same thing but ATM ExynosAbuse apk should still be fastest-easiest vs http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1975560 right (anything easier than an apk with full unroot option)?
-Thnx

Hey there, I have a rooted S3 (rooted with Snapdragon toolkit) and I have not updated my phone since I've gotten it. Is there a way for me to update my phone using Odin without having to unroot my phone first? If so, where can I download the updates for the Wind Mobile version of the S3? Also, If I update my phone using Odin, will it wipe all data from the phone?
Thanks for any help.
Go here, download the root66 jellybean rom for you carrier and flash it with desktop Odin. You will keep root, apps, settings, everything. These have superSU, yours probably has superuser so you will end up with both. Just open superSU, it will ask you to update the binary and it will take over. Then you can just disable or install superuser if you wish.

That tells me you did not read the thread at all, root66 by mrRobinson rooms are fully stock Samsung firmware with only one modification, root injected on it, so you don't have to do it yourself, and you don't trip the counter in the process of rooting it either.

You're right, after I saw the word 'rom' I thought you were talking about a completely different rom and didn't bother to check. Thanks, I will definitely check this out.

Just Odin mrRobinson's root66 rom...

I just got a note 2 and I would like to know what's the best way to root my device without any problems?
If you just got it then I'm going to assume you don't have any important data!
Flash a stock rom with root injected! It's literally a stock touchwiz 4.1.2 rom with superSU. It always doesn't mess up your counter and you can get official OTAs from T-mobile.
The link is here.
What ungraph said. I ran mrRobinson's injected rom for about 7 months before I ended up on tweaked. It works pretty well.

Thanks, silly question. My service provider is Metro PCS even though this is a tmobile phone, will that have any interference with the root?
So no one used Galaxy Note2 TOOLKIT V4.1.0 to root their android? I used this to root my S3.

Be sure to read all step and choose the good option for your phone. I choose recommend options except for the recovery I choose the cwm instead of twrp.

KINGO Android Root
I just found an app that supposedly will ROOT any Android phone. It is called KINGO Android Root.
FYI - Just completed my Root and it took ~ 3 minutes. I know it is rooted since I can now use Titanium Backup Pro.
Ok so with a fair bit of browsing and searching i came across this website HERE
i just want to know if this will root my 4.3 android device which was upgraded OTA from 4.1.2 to 4.3 via Telus
and is it a clean root. basicly keeping stock os and adding the root availability to it. and then allow me to add other software i need.
It should. Chainfire's root tars are generally super solid.
Well I gave it a try but now I have issues with the KNOX blocking the root and of course KNOX doesn't work any ideas how to do that and get rid of knox

Unfortunately I have no experience with KNOX at all. I've read that, if you're rooted, you can remove Knox with Titanium Backup but that puts you back to step 1 of getting root. Chainfire's page says that rooting with his method will trip KNOX but it doesn't mention anything about blocking it. Here's the page for your device. He might have some updated info there:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1980644
Hmm ya well for some reason my knox says superSU is trying to access a restricted area of the device and is being blocked so it didn't trip my knox. And as for trying to install knox it won't work not that I want it. I even used Kies to factory restore it. No superSU anymore but does show in my updates to update it

Just go to the play store and update super user. Once this is done open the app it will say update, say yes normal and it will now disable Knox and super user will work.

You initially did it running the CF-Auto-Root. Running SuperSu just put the icing on the cake.
I have heavily modified the MotoChopper exploit by XDA member drjbliss to handle the new changes to file permissions in JellyBean 4.3+. Because this tool is based on MotoChopper it will likely support the same device list that MotoChopper supports however i have only tested it on the T-mobile T999 & T999L and the i337 .
If you would like to test it on other devices it should be fairly safe to try as it should either work or fail, of course testing anything like this is always at your own risk and i am not liable for any damage to your device, self esteem and so on. If you do test it on your device, please report your results here so that I can try to fine tune it if need be.
For this current version you will have to have TWRP installed on your device.
if it works for you don't forget to hit the thanks button! enjoy.
all instructions on how to use are inside the tool. this is for windows users only.

So sorry I need to edit the main post, I have been working on so many different projects, we did not test it on the M919 it was actually tested on the i337. If you are talking about the flash counter though this will not trip the flash counter, however flashing twrp will trip the binary status, and possibly the Knox counter, I need someone to test it, but I can't tell you how to correct it if it does trip it.
i guess what i should say is that while i have not had a confirmed success of fail on the m919 i have provided the tool to a few who have not been kind enough to report its status

So now Sammy has a flash counter a Knox counter and a binary status? Next thing you know their entire kernel is going to be some kind of counter.

The funny thing is when they switch to that tizen bs they are probably going to require the phones to root in order to switch like Ubuntu for the phones.

I will put it this way, since I did not take into account Knox being an issue , I will say that yes it will probably trip the Knox counter, but we won't know for sure until someone is willing to try it.

No it will not erase the data on your phone.
The step by step instructions are inside the tool, if you need instructions on how to flash TWRP to your device via Odin you can find them in the forums. I would include them but it is really outside of the scope of the tool, while the tool requires TWRP to work TWRP is not related in any way to the tool, the tool is simply TWRP dependent.
It has worked on the i337 already, whether or not it works on mk2 has yet to be determined, however the tool is designed in such a way it will either work or fail, if it fails it will not harm your device.
