Hi everyone,
I just bought an i927, and I'm really looking forward to installing some custom ROMs. Above all, I'd love to see a MIUI rom for this device. MIUI is hands down my favorite Android flavor. What do you think about these instructions for creating a "MIUI PatchROM"?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1483332It looks to me like it should be possible to MIUI-ify an existing stable ROM for the i927 with this method. What do you think?
Thanks, cheers.
interesting if you will to do this I would recommend you use the "[07.06.12]Osimood v2.06.07" ROM as that one is based off of 2.35 and has all bloat removed. Will make for a good starting point for you. you can find it at this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1462298 good luck and I hope you get it working MIUI is a nice looking ROM

That would be interesting, but it's dated february and based on GB.
I think we should consider basing it on ICS: CM9 is coming, it should be easier (assuming CM9 works well).
Hmm, I was also wondering if those instructions would work for ICS too. I know that MIUI is currently running with the ICS base on other devices.
As for me, I doubt I have the skills to pull this off.
Is this still stands? It would be really cool to have MIUI v4 on the glide!
Someone recently mentioned wanting to give it a try in the CM10 topic, so it seems it's on!

Unfortunately I think I'm too dumb to follow those sketchy instructions that I linked to, which assume a huge amount of knowledge of the Android base system and its frameworks. But, for those who have already created ROMs for the i927 or even other devices, I suspect it would be relatively easy.
I though I'd look into trying this! I'll need some help from some willing dev' s and Linux gurus!
So far I have followed the instructions from get hub, synced the patchrom. Following the command to adb pull "stockrom.zip" from my glide is getting errors and won't make the zip.
I'm currently running the new UCLJ3 ics update that is rooted, deodexed, and zipaligned, with litekernel v1.1. I'll have to redo the adb pull to get the error, can't remember what it was. It was at the end when it was about to make the zip.
If anyone is willing to help, I'll post the exact error later tonight after work!

Hi guys. I am developing roms for the LG Optimus G, and I need your guys help. I want to port an 4.2 sense 4 or higher rom to CM 10.1 we just got working for our device, but most sense roms here appear to be 4.1. Since you guys have the device and spend more time here, is there already one available? If not, can someone at least link me to a stock 4.1 rom to port then (with a developer who is nice enough to let me use their work)?
thanks for your help.
I've been trying to port miui v5 3.3.29
I've got most of it working on a touchwiz base
Here's a link to the rom that I have that will install and boot.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/q5h1k2utu2...1213.04.01.zip
not working:
-any connection to network (cdma, wifi, wimax)
-System menus default to upside-down orientation
-home and search buttons
working:
-everything that does not require network access
anyone that can help, if you have some insight into how to fix the few issues with this port I think we can make a good leap for miui on the E4GT.
Thanks to all
-Kobridge for the base
-Adhvanlt
-all E4GT devs
Note* I tried porting some of the libsec.ril files over from the 3.2.22 miui but no luck with getting anything to work, phone would not boot.

Edited the title to show as a WIP. If some developers kick in and and work towards this it can stay here. If not we can try moving to Q&A.
Thanks

The network connections would probably work if you used an AOSP base rather than Touchwiz (and maybe solve some of your other issues). I recommend CyanogenMod as it is usually the easiest to port to.http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2099881
Also, here is a JB Porting guide I wrote up awhile ago. http://db.tt/CYqnIv9p Hope this helps, I would love to see a fully functional MIUIv5 on our device.
Let me know if you need anymore help.

Exactly what I was thinking. Thanks for bringing it up.
I didn't think I was the only one that thought that AOSP would have been a better base.

The version he is using to port from is actually Touchwiz base. So not all MIUI is aosp.

Yes but AOSP is much easier to port for someone just starting out was my point.
I just don't understand why anyone would use tw as a base. I'm not bashing the dev just as MIUI in itself is AOSP I would imagine that if you're going to port it that you'd use a stable AOSP base.
I was trying TW on the advice of Adhvanlt, I've been trying with TW, ASOP and CM bases. all to the same effect, I just can't find a good resource on getting CDMA to work on the rom. if anyone knows more about porting the CDMA components over to the new rom that would be great!

You should probably use an MIUI from say the Sprint S3 or something along those lines and then it will already be there and working and you can work on the other issues... Just make sure the device you are porting from has the same screen resolution. It shouldn't be a problem however because your base ROM should already have the CDMA components. I'll have to take a look at this tomorrow when I get off work. I'm thinking the problem is somewhere else.
I wish you the best! I'm dying to try this ROM.
OK I'm getting pretty interested in cooking my own ROMs. I've seen several tutorials/How To's on XDA.
What I wanna know is which one should someone just getting into ROM cooking for the G Pro use?
I personally prefer custom Stock based ROMs over CM. Does that make a difference?
Is it easier to build CM or Stock based?
Any help\ suggestions would be greatly appreciated ..

Hello im also interested in cooking roms. I prefer the stock rom. What i really like is a g flex rom like on the g2

I'm no dev but I'd say stock ROMs are harder to make. I don't think anyone can just compile a homemade version of LG's ROMs without proprietary software. It's done by lots and lots of smali modifications. As for AOSP, there was a post on the XDA portal about Builduntu which is a stripped down version of Ubuntu with everything you need to make a ROM. All you need are the sources.

So I have noticed a lot of threads here share the GEE/GEEB label and we work closely with other versions of the Optimus G.
What I wanna know is if this ROM is safe to use on our phones, and if not, how can I sorta port it to work. This is one of the few ROMs I like more than mahdi or CM, and wanna try for a bit. (maybe add to the multi boot list?)
Please help! Thank you in advance!
