[Q] HTC & Remote Control Issues - HTC One X

Heya guys.
Having a issue with my "A-Jays One +" and its remote control makes me freak out.
Totally satisfied with JellyBean(ARHD 17.0) and all that it offers except this thingy with the remote.
A-Jays says its a Jellybean issue but from what i've read somewhere else(don't recall where) its a Sense issue.
The software downloadable for "remoting" don't work with Sense &/or JellyBean.
Its especially frustration for me now that i bought it just for the use of the remote now that my phone is burried almost when im at work(to not mess my phone up.
Coming from the ARHD forum i see alot of skilled people making mods and enhancements for the phone and my question if anyone would be so kind to check what the issue might be and if its fixable by removing/add something to the code or if could be as easy as an app downloadable somewhere that i missed.
I dont know what signals the remote sends but i cant do anything with the volume. LongPress starts a Google thingy or calls LastCall.
Any information would mean alot to me.( if its a serious one from someone that knows his "stuff" )
Thanks alot for any help

Background trapping mouse events on WinMo.. posibble?

Hey developers,
Believe me, I tried searching quite a lot but couldn't find an answer, never tried this kind of developing ever.
Let's say that my point is to disable part of screen - eg below 400px will not work - my app will catch those mouse events and stop them.
I tried speaking with Chainfire on IRC but he went for gaming or so and he offered me injecting dll's. I'm not sure if that would be the best idea since I'd prefer to do it on background rather than loading it with all apps.
I was thinking another few minutes and how about loading it as driver or some kind of touchscreen filter and running inside device.exe or any other kernel process (or just as background process, doesn't matter those few kB in memory).
Thanks for any push in any way of doing this, believe me, you won't regret the result . OndraSter
Not sure this is possible with the Win32 HWnd stuff, you can catch and handle Window Messages only within the Window said messages are posted to. Never seen a way to do it system wide. Would probably involve replacing some fairly fundamental components. Same sort of thing we are looking at to get multi-touch working correctly on the HD2.
I heard someone got it working with keyboard, but mouse not because of lack LL_MOUSE stuff etc
maybe develop a driver, like i.e. Touch response does.
Yep that was one of two things that came to my mind - driver or service...
But I have no idea where to start with it though...

A 'can the Desire/Android do this?' question from newbie

I just got a Desire last week having had a N900 for the last six months and I'm loving both the device and the OS. The speed, the screen, the sense UI, it's all mobile goodness.
But I do want to ask if it is possible to screencast my Desire's screen while providing a voice commentary. I work as a teacher and I wanted to be able to provide video how-to guides of certain educational apps for my students. My first thought was to physically video my phone's screen using another camera, but I discovered that my hardware isn't really up to the task.
So I thought I might be easier to somehow connect my phone to the computer via USB, display the phone screen on my computer and then use software like Camtasia to do the screen capturing.
I've searched on the net to find out if this is possible but struggled to find an answer. There was a lot of stuff about SDKs and rooting and command lines and while I have some tech knowledge, a lot of it was way over my head.
If anyone can tell me if this is possible and how I'd go about doing it in fairly simple terms I'd be grateful. I am willing to chance my arm with the strange world of rooting if I have to, though I am afraid of messing up my lovely new device. All advice and help gratefully received..

You're definitley going to need to root your phone but even at that no app like that exists for Android (Yet). It's fairly doable but you would need to get the help of a developer.
There's an app called AndroidScreenCast, search for it in the G1 forums. This will show your screen on the PC and then use a desktop recording tool to record it (I think it may actually have an inbuilt record video function though).

Thanks for that, sounds awesome and could be exactly what I need. Don't have pc access at the moment but will try it out as soon as I get home. Much appreciated!
Just tried it. Has a really slow refresh rate but works fine for basic functions i suppose!

[DEV] Binding CorePlayerService

I am developing simple widget with some music controls on it. I was able to control both Android and HTC music services using bindService(), .Stub.asInterface() and 2 separate IMediaPlaybackService.aidl files (for both packages accordingly). However, I have not succeeded in searching for the .aidl file for Samsung player. It is my understanding that it should be somethig like ICorePlayerService.aidl using ICorePlayerService interface. Since I have not found any, I tried to create my own using the same function names that Android and HTC use; however, it did not work.
Have you any idea how to control Samsung music player from own app? Thank you for your time.
Yes, the name of the site says: xda-developers and yes its an Android Development section, but I guess there arent many people here knowing Android API.. I know a little, but not to that much extent, especially when it comes to proprietary software.
Consider this a shameless bump!
Pure music widget author already did it, so I guess its possible (though he said before that its not).
He did, but I guess I cannot actually ask developer, how to code features of his paid application ).
Then again, why not? It's not like you have anything to lose here...the worst that can happen is that he won't help you.
Well, it has been a long time, and still no reply from the dev :-(. Is there anybody who figured it out?

Keyboard.

While I like the whole Android series, I seem to be stuck by 1 thing and I'm surprised nobody has thought to mock up an app that functions like this:
SwipeSelection
Someone made something for the Android that's quite similar. However it's still in beta phase and doesn't seem to be receiving anymore progress.
It's called Tyype.
While Tyype works almost identical to SwipeSelection, it does have it's faults. The big one that I'm curious about is whether or not swiping your finger through the actual keyboard in order to move the cursor is possible on android? If so, why hasn't anyone really thought about copying? It's immensely intuitive and handy feature for those of us who mess up spelling on the keyboard; even to those who don't misspell it's quite useful to changing searches, texts, script files, etc...
This has been on my mind for a while and I just wanted to throw this out there.

2 Questions, Want to design my own launcher, and trying to find a decent HU

Hi guys, been a while since i posted on these forums so bare with me...
But lately as I'm soon going to be restoring a Z3 ive been looking into the headunits going around.
And truth be told i prefer the Chinese ones to the international branded ones like pioneer.
But i have a few questions so I hope this is the right forum.
My coding experience is limited but not non-existent. I've grabbed android studio and had a nice look around at it. Going to try come test projects on it to get the hang of it before I start any serious work.
My plan is to build a new homescreen launcher with a built in radio/music player. As I feel when looking at the android launcher they put on just doesnt sit right with the main function of this device... IE its a radio and music player...
So Im going to build a new front end with all the controls available to the driver in a safe easy to use way.
So now the questions
Are there any tips on building launchers for these units?
The USB DAB+ stick thats been mentioned many times here. How do you access the steams and communicate to change frequencies and such with it? (I realise thats likely an indeph question and is probably detailed in an SDK somewhere if you can point me to that SDK or detail that would be great)
The CD/DVD unit built into the headunits. how is the audio stream handled? Does it bypass android completely and go to the preamp in the unit? Or is there some sort of interface with android? Even to only provide software controls?
Also can the CD/DVD drive be used for data? I guess if it bypasses android thats a no
Now for the Units.
Theres many nice ones with decent facades, but im having trouble finding the right one. Joying seem good but being in the UK, where can i order it without being charged duty. Is there any UK/EU distributors?
Also im looking for ones with the higher res screen and 2gb ram... That seems very hard to find together along with a nice facade... There are ones that have touch sensitive controls and no CD/DVD drive, but that defeats the purpose and tbh make the unit less safe to use. This is for a car remember...
So any tips?
Sorry if this is a bit rambling... Its been a while
Either no one knows or my questions too disjointed....
Lets try to simplify it.
1) Are there any tips of guides to building your own launcher?
2) Is there any kind of SDK for the realteck DAB+ stick, how do you read streams and manipulate frequency ect...?
3) How do the Units handle the DVD/CD drive, does it bypass android and go straight to the amp or is there some sort of interface with android?
4) Do the drives read data? Such as MP3 cds that android can pick up? (my assumption is no, im not sure android supports optical drives)
5) Are there any confirmed decent UK or EU distributors for the headunits we see from joying/ownice......?
Hope that helps
Not to discourage you but your plans about a new launcher might not be worth it as you can already replace the launcher in these units with any Android launcher. There's even some that are already geared towards driving.
If you want to go full-on custom you could use something like Lightning Launcher and pretty much customize every little thing.
For the music and radio controls there are some re-skinned widgets in the Software forum. Without source code I don't believe you are going to be able to go much further than this. I prefer Poweramp over the stock music player so I just use one of its widgets, would be nice to have something similar for the radio though (although internet-based radio apps are always an option).
The other questions I don't have answers for.
Thanks for getting back... Not discouraged. I probably will still have a go though ill look into the other ones available though
