[Q] Flashing ATT Roms - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note II

I've only had this phone for a couple of days not and I am running Jedi 7.2 right now. I am familiar with android and the whole process of rooting, flashing and etc. I am aware that we can not flash the international roms onto our phone but can we flash the ATT roms and flash the tmo radio afterwards?

Yes... I have the opposite...on the I317 Development Forum...

Just make sure you replace modem & boot image with the T-Mobile one and you are good to go...

Yes, we can flash them and then flash our radio. International ROMs too as along as they are from the N7105 section, n7100 = brick tho.

Sorry for the late response but thank you very much for your time

[Q] T889V Should I root.

Well I've been reading about rooting and installing roms on the galaxy note 2 for about 2 weeks now. However, I have the t889v wind mobile variant. which as I have read has a lot of problems attached to it. I don't understand why or how but all I know is that its there. The rooting process as someone explained it to me doesn't seem hard and too different from the t889 version.
But the problems arise in that you install a rom and you run the chance of losing your imei. you have to flash a modem which i hear gives some phones bootloop problems and some not. I also read that the roms have a problem running on the t899v.
Well i guess my question is that, is this a problem that occurs on every t889v or is it just some. If it is only some than what did you guys do wrong? and what are the steps to fix it. Because I really wan't multi-window feature and I don't know how long it will take Wind mobile to push out their updates I'm assuming close to never lol. Therefore I'm more reliant on Roms and rooting but I don't wan't it to the expense of rendering my phone useless.

If you can live with slow data speeds root it, the only thing is you cant go back to stock and NEVER and i mean NEVER flash the T889V modem because youll just screw up your phone
You should be ok with either CWM update zip ROMs or Odin flashable ones that don't include the modem.bin image in their tar file. For those ROMs that do include the modem image, you can repack the ROM to keep only the system and boot.img, (Cygwin's tar binary works well for this.)
As has been said before, flashing modems can get ugly if you make but one mistake.

thanks for the replys but, by modem you speak of the t889v modem that has been posted on the developers page that said for canadian users to flash
-and as for data speeds, why do they become slow all of a sudden? and is there any way I can extract the modem from the stock rom on my phone, and then later flash it onto the phone after I flash the custom rom?

They become slow because its using the tmobile modem, and if you flash the t899v modem available it will make your phone go into a reboot loop (Happened to two of my note 2), and im not sure if you can get the modem form your stock rom right now

well that's a shame if only there was a way i could just extract my modem and use it...I guess i'll just wait till more brilliant minds fix it. As waiting for wind to update is highly unlikely.
Actually rooting is really easy.
Download the toolkit.
Takes like 2 minutes.
Then you can use some very useful apps like titanium backup / adfree, etc.
Recovery is also useful.
You can use custom roms too. See details here:

Not too long ago I was on the same boat. I was pissed off when I got my gn2 with wind only to find out there is very little support for it. I read some horrible stories on xda but I can personaly say I didnt lose my imei or bootloop. I used the toolkit to root and then flashed jedi x14. With this particular rom you select the option to retain your modem so you will not be flashing any modems. This is the only rom I am willing to vouch for as I have not tested other ones. Make sure you flash twrp recovery and backup your rom with efs modem and everything before flashing anything. Always wipe before flashing and follow OP. I have not noticed my phone being slower but then again I never bothered checking my speed when my phone was stock either. Good luck

[Q] Flashing Stock Rom

I want to flash back to stock rom 4.1(cant recall if 4.1.1 is the newest one or not) in a similar manner to how I flash to custom roms such as:
MAKE A NANDROID
Boot into recovery
Wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache, and wipe dalvik cache
Flash ROM
Reboot
I'm currently on PA ROM stable. So here are my questions
1) Can I flash like this instead of going through ODIN and losing root etc
2) Can I keep my root and flashing this like a custom rom, but in actuality a stock rom
3) If this is possible can ATT stock rom work on Roger's i747m, i suspect it would as long as i dont touch the modem. Not sure if there will be LTE issues.
I couldnt find anything on XDA or google, it seems that all stock revert it to original setting and no root.
Thanks

Well i must hang my head in shame for not being able to find this.
This is a good way of flashing a "custom" stock rom without odin and keeping root.
Have you heard of any issues (LTE or any other) with ATT stock on Canadian i747m?
THanks

It's just that I noticed this part of the forum referred to AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus, I wondered if they would be interchangeable.
A lot of the ROMs out there like CM10 and AOKP support ATT but can be ran on canadian i747m's, so thats why I was wondering if ATT stock can run ok on i747ms
EDIT: in beerdroid's link he did enter "**WARNING!** All information and attached links are for the I747 and I747M ONLY!"........so I'm going to assume that the ATT stock rom can run on i747m's without issue.

I think it would be for the most part, would just have to change the modem (I think?).
Either way, always safer to go with your carrier's.

Good find. I had forgotten about that one.
Typically, if you flash an att modem on a Canadian phone it will destroy the imei. I would think that the same would be true for Canadian modems on Att s3's.

Flashed roms but nothing else.

Forgive my noobishness but I really dont know where to begin here. Ive had my note 2 since November and this is my first android device. Anyhow, I flashed several roms these last few months and I prefer the ATT Cleanrom versions the best. Today I will be flashing ATT Cleanrom SE 3.0 and after reading peoples comments ive come to realize that im still running stock baseband or pretty close to it. I always assumed the when I did I ROM upgrade that all necessary software came with it.
Anyhow, my current baseband is I317UCALK7 and I think UCAM3 just came out. What I basically need to know is how to flash this new radio and is there anything else that I should flash inorder to stay up to date?
Other than that, one other quick question, what is a firmware? In the section where the most current basebands are listed the firmware section is right below it and there is a firmware with the same name as the baseband, that I listed above I317UCALK7. I assume its a bone stock setup that is flashed with Odin. So of I need to go back to a stock setup I would need to 1. Flash a stock recovery, 2. Then do a Triangle Away 3. THEN do an Odin flash.
My apologies for the questions, there are still alot of things I dont know about the world of root and Im jist doing a bit on recon before trying something new. Thanks!

Just download the modem zip boot into recovery and flash it and reboot. Make sure you wipe cache and dalvik.
Im not sure if you are using CWM or TWRP but both should work the same.

[Q]Help with 4.3 Rom i747m

Hello guys I'm new at XDA, I want to install this ROM on mi Canadian Galaxy S3 SGH-i747m http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2504903
It says that I have to install the I747UCUEMJB Modem but I don't know if this is for the AT&T GS3 only
My question is that I have to flash that modem even that I have an i747m? Or I have to flash another modem? Please any help would be appriciated
And the Insecure Kernel also works for my model?
THANKS!!
you can only install i747m modems, there is a list of them here

Im sorry, but i dont have any experience with the ROM you want to use.
kinda surprised about them asking you to flash a kernel, most of the other ROMs for i747M, you dont have to flash a kernel.
I've been using CynogenMod for a year now and nothing else, i haven't had to deal with bootloaders or kernels.
But the instructions for that ROM are a little bit confusing, maybe you should ask for some help on that ROM thread.
Im still new to this as well, and im not comfortable with giving you instructions about this. i hope someone can help you with that.
However i know for sure, that you can ONLY flash i747m modems. Sometimes people try out different ones (older and newer) if
one of them doesn't work.
I assume that you have rooted your phone already. If not I would recommend to read and follow Mr Robinsons thread to flashing the Canadian I747M. Worked great for me. The MJB is not for this phone. It will brick if you install that bootloader on a Canadian 747M.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1739426
looserskater has posted a flashable zip that will upgrade both the bootloader and modem here, used it myself rather than OTA:

flashed rom and play store doesnt work now!
I installed the JSS15J.I747MVLUEMK5 Official JB firmware to my phone and my play store doesn't open at all, I've tried clearing its cache, google service frameworks cache, factory resetting, all the apps are enables... i dont know what to do from here, please help me!!

LTE Problems

Hey guys
I installed a nightly of CM11 a while ago and it broke my LTE. The consensus is that you need to install a stock-based ROM, then flash back to CM11 to get LTE working again.
I have flashed an MK5 modem, but am unsure of my bootloader compatibility with the current TouchWiz ROM's out there.
I am on the MF1 bootloader (Canadian phone). Do I need to upgrade/downgrade my bootloader to install any of these TW ROM's? Or can I just flash between TW and CM11 to my heart's consent?
The ROM's say you must be running a 4.3 modem and bootloader...but I can't find any info on whether or not MF1 is a 4.3 bootloader or not?
Thanks,
Elliott
Bump
I haven't tried cm11 yet but using c-rom I had these problems. under settings-mobile networks-preferred network type, check to see the right network is selected. If you don't have these options then my apologies.

MF1 is 4.1.2. The latest Canadian bootloader is MK5 (Which you can't downgrade from).

Well usually you need the same modem as your bootloaders. Some of them are really picky so having the MK5 might be why your LTE isn't working.
You can grab the stock ROM in the general stickies and flash it with Odin though (make sure to backup) if flashing a 4.1.2 modem doesn't fix it.

Okay. What I'm most concerned about is flashing a 4.3 TW ROM with the bootloader that I have. Is having a bootloader from 4.1.2 a bad thing? Or can I install all ROM's with MF1?

Only the downgrade is dangerous, you can upgrade without any problem. That being said, you could just flash the stock 4.1.2.
And if I flash a stock based ROM will it upgrade my bootloader to one I won't be able to downgrade from?
Any suggestions for ROM's?

It depends which one you decide to flash. You can flash stock 4.1.2 just like you could flash 4.3 (which you can't downgrade from).
