Ohh man. Is it just me or does your gallary get slow as hell when you have facebook pictures synced to it?
Why is that? is downloading the images from facebook or are these pictures on the phone after the initial sync? If they are on the phone, shouldn't the gallery be fluid and fast?
Think every time you open gallery it syncs with Facebook. So it will slow down each time you open.

I get that too. It's either picasa, or fb. Seems to show down considerably when using s sketch. Loading those pictures seems painful. When using gallery, it's a few seconds delay

replaced the stock TouchWiz Gallery app today with QuickPic and love it! The stock app's album page is annoying as hell to navigate thru.
What are the other good gallery apps out there?
I've been using Quickpic for awhile too...I like that you can exclude folders so that it doesn't pick up all the graphics embedded in my emails like the stock gallery.
Just read this today - haven't yet installed http://www.androidcentral.com/android-central-quick-app-review-lightbox
I'm using JustPictures!, multiple accounts (facebook, picasa etc.), very good app :] ..
Quickpic user here too.. I love that it's basic enough to just jump into and browse without the 3d annoyance of the normal gallery.
I had an issue with it when I migrated from my Galaxy S to my Galaxy SII (not actioning screen taps even though they were registering) but that seems to have been fixed..

is justpictures fast with loading fb/picasa thumbnails?
Gunna give both Quickpic and Justpictures a try. Fingers crossed that Justpictures lets me save images to Flickr from within camera-using apps... maybe wishful thinking... but I'd love it if Lightbox, for example, or Snapbucket, saved to Flickr.
Didn't really like QuickPick or JustPictures. Both were way too slow at loading the thumbnails. The stock Gallery3D loads all the thumbnails in a blink of an eye but in those two apps it took quite a lot longer.
Btw does anyone know how to get rid of that "snap" action in the Gallery3D? Is it some Samsung addition because I don't remember seeing that kind of feature in the previous versions. It's annoying as hell. Could I just roll to the Gallery3D from market or would it be slower than this Samsung version?
Remember, the first time you open the app it'll cache the thumbnails. Gallery takes a fair while to process all your images the first time it's launched.
I've been using QuickPic for a while instead of Gallery, image quality is better and it's more functional. I like it.
JustPictures! is a good little app too, seems surprisingly quick.
I have 2 random photo albums in my gallery which I can't delete. Instant uploads and scrapbook photos. I don't want these. 1 has a random photo in it I never took and the other is empty. How can I delete them, I can't find a way to delete! Most annoying!

Hello,
Instant uploads is the photo album created by Google+ and I must say it's pretty decent. It uploads (if you agree at the setup) your pics to G+ and stores them for you. No one can see them, you have to decide if you want to publish them. You can delete it from G+ account on your PC (haven't tried from mobile).
Second one is either another G+ photo album, or one from Picasa? Try Picasa Web Albums to see if it's there.
Cheers

I have my gallery setup to sync stuff with Google Photos. See the screenshot. But it does not appear to sync anything, when I login to my Google account and check Photos, I end up at a Google+ page which has a section 'Photos from my phone', but this has to do with the instant upload feature of Google+ (which I don't use).
Am I overlooking something here? Is Gallery syncing successfully for anyone?
Same here, the gallery doesn't sync photos taken by the camera :/
Ok. Reported an issue at code.google.com.
Noticed the same thing. Only with me the photo albums on Google+ are showing on my phone while I have every option to show this disabled
Ok according to a reply on my issue there the Gallery sync option only syncs Picasa web albums to your phone. For uploading photos to Google, the 'instant upload' setting of Google+ should be used. This puts uploaded photos in a non-public Picasa web album.
Sounds fair enough, but uploaded photo's are resized and compressed. Not exactly a proper backup in my opinion.
You need to enable auto-sync to see the check boxes.

Ok,
First off Picasa is Google+ Photos. If you have anything in Picasa Web Albums it will be in your Google+ Photos under albums. Google+ Photos will eventually replace Picasa
1. You can not send photos to Picasa direct frorm the gallery anymore, most likely a Google+ thing. You can use the Picasa tool in the market do do this if you need to.
For me I have instant upload enabled on Google+, so any picture I snap on my camera gets uploaded to Google+ Photos. It is by default private so its only viewable to me.
I use the Picasa desktop tool to keep my pictures on my computer in sync with Google+ Photos. If I add any albums to my pictures folder it syncs into Google+ Photos as a private album only viewable to me. You can set different options with the tool to either upload the original picture or a compressed picture suitable for web viewing. The cool thing is is that it does not effect my 100GB of space I have with Google.
With this setup I really don't need to be uploading to many albums direct to Picasa from my phone unless someone sends me a photo through email or something. Even if that is the case I have the Picasa tool which works really well with Androids sharing features. I'm sure in the next release Google might add the abillity for the gallery to be able to view Pictures from Google Drive or Drop Box...that would really be sweet.
Galaery not syncing
As of May 27th 2012 my Nexus STOPPED syncing all my photos and I have no idea how to get it to turn back on. I have tried manual sync, turned off the account, back on.. short of removing and then re-adding.... which threatens to remove soo much I use daily... HELP

Yeah same here. I don't even get the "Instant Upload" option in the account sync settings oh my Nexus running Jelly Bean. What gives? This is honestly getting frustrating dealing with Android and all it's tiny little problems that go unnoticed here and there.
Do you mean you don't have these settings?

Ok so here's the deal. Whenever I upload a pic to facebook it doesn't show up on the news feed but it does show on my timeline. I reverted back to an old facebook version so that I could select which album to upload it to, but neither that nor Friendcaster will show up on Newsfeed. The only time will show up is when I go to the pic, click share and use the fb app which will automatically upload it to the mobile album. Anyone else have this issue or is it just me?

Hello guys! Greetings from a newcomer to these forums!
I would like to know if any of you know how to get rid of the facebook albums that appeared in my gallery on my S3. i've tried conventional tactics like trying to delete, unsync, etc...but to no avail.
Also, is there any way to set where a certain file ends up such as where a picture goes when you take a picture with the camera app? I've moved the folder where the picture gets sent too via the "My Files" icon and moved that folder to my SD card but when i take a picture it still ends up in a new folder on my phone memory.
One more question. I have a Picasas album which I cannot delete as well in my gallery, any advice?
Apologize in advance about all the questions and I appreciate your responses!
You even get your picasa web albums... even if you tell it not to sync albums in sync settings. So I froze the default gallery, and use QuickPic as my daily driver.

Exactly what I did. I fooled around for 25 minutes trying to remove that extra junky: Samsung failed hard here. QuickPic is great: fast and you can pick which folders to show!
