Since firmware .62 can't be rooted without unlocking bootloader.
I did unlock the bootloader and rooted the system by flashing RootXperia zip
And now I am thinking of re-locking the bootloader using this method
Will I still be able to use root permissions after re-locking ?
Well it should I don't see why not but if It don't you can flash to I think .58 which is rootable (correct me if I'm wrong) and then relock your BL and then root it and do a OTA root keeper and you should be set

After my update from .42 to .69 I lost root access.
Now 3 weeks later I can't work without root. So I decided to unlock the Bootloader on my R800i.
How I get then the root access? Is it already there when I unlock the BL?
Or is there anything to do then, to get root.
How can I update to ICS?
With SEUS or normaly with the phone? And is the BL then even unlocked and will I have root access?
And is there a german manual how to unlock the BL?
To unlock the bootloader go here.
For root the only way I know for firmware .62 and up is by flashing a pre-rooted kernel like Doomkernel.

To update to ICS you have to flash a ICS Kernel/ROM. I suggest you either CyanogenMod 9 or Sony Official Beta. To flash CyanogenMod download the package from the official thread, flash the boot.img with <<fastboot flash boot boot.img>> then enter in recovery and flash the .zip package that has to be on your SD card.
To flash Sony Beta follow instructions in the topic but instead of the original boot.img flash DoomLord Advanced Kernel to gain root access.
hello
iam trying to root my device xperia arc s with stock rom xxxxxxxxx42
i managed to root it once before but when i flashed a new rom (same stock xxxxxxxxx62) i cant seem to root it (tried with both versions ) iam doing evrything right and its not a drivers issue it keep saying "failed" for evrything ( am rooting using doomlord's root tool v4 )
what could be the problem??????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
thanks in advance
What's the output of dooms .bat? I'm guessing you have a locked bootloader?

0.62 fw wasn't rootable when i had it. Just flash back with flashtool or wotan to 0.42 fw root with doomlords pack. Update again and it is rooted.
You can only get root on .42 with doomlords easy root.
Re flash .42 with flashtools get root, if bootloader is locked then update over the air to .62 root will remain.
DO NOT UPDATE OVER THE AIR IF BOOTLOADER IS UNLOCKED YOU WILL BRICK THE PHONE.

Could I root my SE Xperia Play R800x 2.3.4 with dooMloRDs Root? or would I have to downgrade to 2.3.3, and if so how would I do it? (Verizon)

Assuming you already have unlocked your bootloader, yes. You can do it on 2.3.4. DooMKernel comes root access.
While it is inefficient to do it that way, if you already have an unlocked bootloader, you can boot into CWM and flash RootXperia to enable superuser.
If you do not have an unlocked bootloader, I would suggest to ftf back to 2.3.3, and root with SuperOneclick (I would also suggest staying on 2.3.3, as 2.3.4 has many notable flaws.)
hi..
i wanted to root and then flash a costum rom on a xperia arc but im not getting root first...i used 2 methods for the locked bootloader the doomlord v1 and the Root_Exploit_OneClick both of these show me errors and the phone cant get root,i turned off every another process in the pc and the antivirus and still nothing...pls help me to root it...it is with locked bootloader..
Edit( i rooted it when i flashed a ready to root stock ics firmware and then with one click root method)
first of all you cant install a custom ROM with a locked bootloader... and the reason why your not getting a root is that your on .62 firmware and you can only root on .42 firmware... (NOTE: android version 2.3.4)

i have this version 4.1.b.0.431...what should i do to root with this firmware?
You have ICS https://www.google.com.au/#hl=en&sc...qf.,cf.osb&fp=c72d84806ae8a6&biw=1366&bih=667 that should help you
y the way there are 2 ways to root .431(4.0.4)
1) flash the .431 file and then flash the stock kernel of .562 ftf(i.e flash 4.0.4 and the flash only the kernel of 4.0.3) and then use doomlord one click method
2) flash a ready to root ftf file that already has the compiled things together.
(by the way, why dont you unlock your bootloader? because if anything goes extremely wrong it can only be corrected if you have an unlocked bootloader. and unlcoking bootloader is not risky infact it can be reocked again it will give you more choice to choose from various roms and kernels)
and note these methods work on unlocked bootloaders only.
these threads will help youon locked bootloader

you can root your phone using This method .
hey everyone,
I updated my Xperia Arc to ICS via the sony pc companion update. But how do I root this version? Should I go back to gingerbread and root it or is there a way to root it directly, without going back?
Thanks.
If you have firmware 4.1.b.0.431 for ICS 4.0.4 then https://www.google.com.au/#hl=en&sc...=667&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_qf.,cf.osb&cad=b or just search what ever firmware you have on google or xda
if you have ics 4.0.3 then u can root it using doomlords oneclick root method. if it is 4.0.4 then u need to flash kernel of 4.0.3 and then root and then u can come back to kernel of 4.0.4 by flashing just the orignal kernel again. or you can download a ready to root 4.o.4 ftf and then flash it on your phone using flashtool.
for 4.0.3 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1601038
for 4.0.4(ready to root) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1683957
you can root your phone using these simple 3 methods in Here.
Does it void our warranty ?
Sent from my LT15i using xda premium
well i am not 100% sure but i think that rooting wont void your warranty. unlocking bootloader voids your warranty because, root does not remain if you flash another firmware however, an unlocked bootloader is permanaent irrespective of what ever you install on it.
this was my logic however, remember dev's have shown how a bootloader can be relocked. get more info from here http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/
