Anyone known what this does?
They are 'RFD' type stickers that can be used with any Samsung Android device that has NFC. You place a sticker somewhere (desk, car etc.) and when the phone / tablet is near to it, you can have its settings preset though an app (i.e. bluetooth on, wireless off, show map app etc.)
Check out the TecTiles free app in the Play Store for more details.
This wont work with Note 10.1 as it does not have NFC
Thanks guys.
At least we have to draw making it special. Haha
Don't forget the rf blaster and peel that makes it an awesome universal remote, even though the app isn't the best to setup.I wish they would make more apps for the rf blaster

Am pretty sure that to get into my flat I use a NFC key, so is there an app that can replicate this function?

Card emulation is supported. NDEF Push is, but I'd suspect the cards you want to use aren't NDEF.
I think most remote entry systems like that use RF
Ya, I think most doors are RFID, but you could easily just slap an RFID chip in your battery cover...
Hey all,
Anyone give those Samsung NFC TecTiles a go with their GalNex? It looks like really neat stuff!

For what they are, the tags are overpriced. You can get tags for about 1/3 the cost from Tagstand.

Which app do you use to customize the NFC tags?
Sent from my AOKP Nexus using xda Premium
Yeah, the tags are really over priced... but they get the job done. I picked some up at my local Sprint store for me and my dad, (he has the Evo LTE) and they work fine.

I also can confirm, just download the tectile app and configure them to what u want

i ordered a box of them from samsung with my 50% off coupon code.
however, i've never used nfc before outside of wallet.
if i set one to toggle wifi, gps, start car dock and put it in my car, when i scan it once to activate car mode, if i scan it a second time when i leave the car, will it
Only one way to find out... mind sharing the coupon code? Is it for Samsung.com?

I have played with the Tec Tiles. I hear that you can use the app in conjunction with Tasker to do more powerful things. Anyone know anything about this?

Is there a way I can put configuration on these other than using the TecTile app?
I want to put corporate settings for a wifi network on there, so the user simply adds their username and password and the rest of the network is setup. Is this possible?

I can't remember the name of the app, but there is a program that allows 2 mobile devices (tablets and/or smartphones) to connect this way. The app for the host device is a paid app but each addon device utilizes a free controller app. In this instance, your HTC would use the paid host app to be used with a stereo, TV, computer, etc and your s3 (and any other phones/tablets) would use the free remote control app. I'll see if I can find it again

I'll keep my eye out for something, I'm always trying to find different ways to make everything work together at my house...
My set top box is not supported on peel or watch on, but I found that it is supported by the Logitech harmony codes.
Is there anyway we can get the codes from that database and use them in peel or some other app?
I also have an IR receiver with a 3.5mm output. Can it be used to learn IR codes from the original remote?
If it helps my box is a Cisco 3410DVB

Go to Samsung's website after submitting a ticket via WatchOn, which should happen after failing to set it up, & submit a question to customer service. I had an issue with codes & after getting a hold of service, 3 days later one of their engineers contacted me & a week later t5hey had fixed my issue.
Sammy's customer service has come a long way & has become pretty responsive & helpful. That has been my experience in the last 6 months.
Thanks for the info.
Actually I don't have watch on in my device.
I had submitted the problem with the peel app, but there hasn't been much response to that from the support guys.
I tried an S4 version of Watchon, but it gave me some error, I will try to get the note 8.0 version.

I must be the only once that can't get my TVs to ever react to the IR blaster... just doesn't seem strong enough.
I wonder what's the point in having IR with no app which you could teach by reading signal from your own remote. Even the old Palms could do it (Novii Remote). I searched the Play Store and found nothing, Peel is the first app to go once I start removing the S-bloatware.

Actually, it is Samsung's fault. The hardware for learning codes is missing from galaxy device. The device doesn't even cost 50 cents, why did they didn't include it?
Sony is much better in this aspect, it can learn codes.

Touch squid ftw. Good support and they update a lot. Kind of challenging setting up less than common features on remotes though.

Oddly I like WatchOn and glad Sammy went with them. I have DirectTV so it's fully functional for almost everything i need. Do with it has a full remote instead the scaled down one. But I paid for the directv remote that works on all my boxes via network, rather i'm in that room or not. Great for screwing with my kids when they decide they want to hide in they rooms instead of coming when i call.
