CM10 Boot Loop? Help! - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

I rooted my phone to a stock root on my Jelly Bean Galaxy S3. I then installed ClockworkMod through ROM Manager, then CM10. It installed OK, now stuck in a boot loop. No big deal, I'll reinstall to my Kies backup. Doesn't work, I can't seem to get into recovery mode. I hold the buttons, it vibrates, and the screen stays black until I let go at which point it boots to that horrendous boot loop. I really need my phone back!
P.S. Please explain as if I am five years old.

Download mode couldnt get any simpler bud
Edit: just incase if you dont know its down home power button to get to it, find your galaxy s3 firnware (ATT/Bell etc...) and your back stock nonrooted. And then you can root againif you wanna

While in a boot loop, hold the buttons. The phone will power off and stay off as long as you hold them down. Let go of all three, then immediately press all 3 again. When you see a little blue line of letters on the top left of your screen, let go again. Should boot into recovery from there.

Did you read the question bro.. he said he CAN'T go to recovery mode only other option is download mode

No, the option is to boot into recovery and perform a factory reset (which may fix his problem). IF that doesn't fix his problem, he can flash a different ROM from recovery, provided he had custom recovery.
The only difference in getting to download as opposed to recovery is which volume button you use. Chances are if he can't 3 button into recovery, download will be the same result.

Thanks
Got it fixed guys, thanks for the help, now I'm back at Stock Rooted 4.1.1, but am still on the quest for a deodexed rom!

Excellent suggestion - it worked for me

I got a Galaxy S III on 23rd Dec 2012 with Ice Cream Sandwich installed. A couple of weeks later it updated itself with a little help from me to the latest Jelly Bean. Since then it's gone into the reboot loop 3 times without any provocation; i.e. I get it out of my pocket and it's in a reboot loop but it had been fine the last time I used it. I tried pressing various buttons alone and in combination and eventually it came out of the loop. At no time did I have to remove the battery. The only mod I've made to it is the addition of a 64GByte SD card, apart from the upgrade to Jelly Bean. I've seen many posts on this problem but yours is the first that confirms my solution for getting out of it. It's obviously a common problem so somewhere there must be a description of what causes it and, hopefully, how to prevent it as it's a real nuisance when you want to use your phone and it's in a reboot loop. If and when I find a definitive article I'll post here again.
Thanks MrHaley.

CM9 stuck on boot and can't get into recovery

I've been running various CM9 nightlies for a while now and I use CWM and ROM Manager to handle updating. Today I accidentally put CM10 over CM9, it booted but things were messed up. I then figured I'd just try putting CM9 over that and see what would happen rather than reverting to a backup. Now it's stuck on the CM9 boot animation. That just keeps running endlessly.
I can't get into recovery though. I hold power, volume up and home, the phone vibrates, and Samsung appears briefly on the screen, then nothing. As soon as I release the buttons it just starts a normal boot. I'm not sure how many minutes I need to hold the buttons, but I'm pretty sure I've tried it long enough. Using power, volume down and home I got into the download screen, but I'm not sure what I should do with that at this point.
Is there some trick to getting a T-mobile phone into restore? I thought when I originally rooted it I had to release one of the buttons at a certain time to get into download mode.

Try booting into download, CANCELING, then immediately holding home and vol up. See if that works.
I managed to get into recovery by holding the three buttons and as soon as I saw the Samsung logo I released all three buttons and if finally worked. I'll keep that other method in mind if I continue having issues, thanks.
Now hopefully my backup will take.

S3 won't boot, load CWM, go into download mode...

Alright, so I have an i-747 (AT&T GS3) running AOKP Jellybean (8.28 build) with the KT747 kernel. I just tried to install Chainfire 3D using the automated installer, and when the phone rebooted, it stuck at the Samsung Galaxy S3 logo until I pulled battery. So I tried rebooting into CWM - same problem. And again with download mode. Even after pulling the battery for a good 5 minutes, nothing works. Am I bricked, or is there some fix for this?
If you can get into CWM your not bricked. If you haven't backed up your phone there is a good chance you will have to start fresh. Its always a wise decision to do a nandroid backup via cwm before doing anything major. Including installing chainfire.
Have you tried wipe/factory reset in CWM?

Yeah, I made a nandroid just this afternoon, but I can't actually boot into CWM at all. As in, I turn on the phone (power+home+volume up), it gets to the Galaxy S3 logo and just hangs there. If I could get into CWM (or download mode) this would be about a 10 minute fix, but I'm kind of out of luck here.
Huh. After another battery pull, it let me boot into download mode. I'm gonna try to reflash to stock and hope for the best.
HELP I have the same issue
Hey, Im stuck in the same situation and was wondering if you were able to get it into CWM mode?

I doubt it's bricked if he got it into download mode. I'm sure he's flashed it and even got his wallpaper back up by now. Please let us know of you've managed to solve this or not MrPhantom.

Curious?
I know its technically "Solved" but does anyone have any idea why this is happening? I have a Verizon GS3 and it's happening to me. I try to boot and it vibrates once and doesn't turn on. Recovery does the same thing. But going into Download mode works. Odin back to stock as we speak but I'm just curious what went wrong. I just did a clean install of a rom, set it all up (working at the time), set it down for the night and woke up to it like this.

Same thing happned to me but your not bricked. You can get into bolth download and boot mode easy
Here is how you do it.
RECOVERY MODE
Unplug the USB cable.
Shut down the phone.
Hold down the 'HOME' + 'VOLUME UP' buttons and press the 'POWER' button for about 5 seconds to enter Recovery Mode.
[edit]Download Mode
Save that somewhere. Make sure do it right. I got stuck also and thought I couldn't get into recovery but I had to do it right (it hit recovery mode first try) I have learned that most people do it slightly wrong. Make sure follow directions
Download mode
Unplug the USB cable.
Shut down the phone.
Hold down the 'HOME' + 'VOLUME DOWN' buttons and press the 'POWER' button for about 2 seconds until a WARNING! Screen appears. Press the 'VOLUME UP' button to enter Download Mode.
To get out of Download Mode, simply press and hold the power button until the phone restarts
if helps hit thanks.
Just save that to a text file somewhere
I have also soft bricked when I deleted my rom once on accident. I dunno how I did it but I would get stuck at the TWRP screen. It wouldn't go to download or anything however when I plugged it into odin it saw it .... I even had a soft brick when screen went black from a bad boot animation and same thing.. and I had one bad soft brick where it took about 100 trys to get it into download mode (black screen) but odin detected it. I spent like 4 hours working on it.
I think
1. People don't follow directions correct (they do it a little wrong) which is enough if your phones messed up for it not to work.
when your phones normal it can get into recovery or download easy but when its sick you got to do it perfect.
2. I think something wrong with the phones (my s2 never had any issues in 2 years of owning it) S3 has tons of issues from usb, to bluetooth, to these soft bricks I have had)
3. Roms play a big part
4. I also think the way storage works in this new phone causes lots issues I dunno why just what I think
anyway Like I said now when I have a isssue I open text and read it and make sure I do it right and 95 percent of the time it was my fault I wasn't doing it right. K just my thoughts
when i try this on my verzion s3 it wont load back into the CWM after installed to finish rooting. it just goes back into the android system recovery. tried it about 10 times and nothing different

You might have to factory reset in recovery (vol up + home + power). I read you removed the power button, that's so not useful lol.
Maybe you'll be able to use ADB to boot in recovery or a jig to boot in download mode (if it gets to that point).
no luck

Hold all 3 buttons until he boots up (vibrate), then release the power, while still holding home+vol up. It should boot in recovery.
Depending on your carrier, you may be able to flash a stock ROM via Odin.
If you have the 4.3 bootloader, only flash a stock 4.3 ROM. If you have a 4.1.1 or 4.1.2 bootloader, you can flash either a stock 4.1.1 or 4.1.2 ROM via Odin.

[Q] T989 stuck on samsung logo - no power button

hey guys,
I was on 4.1.2 I had a "NO SIM" issue so i decided to try to root and flash 4.4 rom (was using touch recovery 2.7.0.0 all the way)
then it got stuck on samsung logo, I need to know if it's possible to boot RECOVERY MODE either FROM DOWNLOAD MODE or some touch/vol buttons way to boot into recovery, I have tried everything within my knowledge, I start the phone by sliding the battery out and in while USB plugged. or into download mode by holding both VOL buttons. I need to get into recovery and do a full wipe so I can do a fresh jelly bean 4.1.2 again.
thanks!

Are you saying that your power button doesn't work or what? Also, this belongs in q&a. I'll ask a moderator to move it.

EDIT: thread moved.
I'd fix the power button first. Then the rest is easy. You're in for many headaches with a bad power button. Plus, if it acts up while flashing anything, you could be in real trouble.
it's a little urgent on needing the phone to use it, thats why am digging into this. the button wont be here until at least wednesday 13th.
but yeah i guess i'll wait
thanks for your responds guys!

[Q] Bricked Samsung Galaxy Nexus I9250

i seem to have hard bricked the device and i have been attempting to find a way i can fix it for hours.. i seem to be stuck. Its stuck on the boot animation cyanogenMod logo. I am unable to get into the recovery mode, as well as fast boot mode. i let it sit on that boot logo for hours without anything at all happening. No progress what so ever. Now the biggest thing i am trying to figure out is how i even managed to get this to happen. there was a software update notification that i received, so i figured it may have been the Android L update or something, so without taking into considering what exactly i was agreeing to i accepted, and continued. Let it reboot, and thats how i got to come across this issue. Any suggestions.
So if you hold down "volume up", "volume down", and then press and hold the power button, does it not boot into the bootloader? You may have to hold all three down for 15 seconds or so... Based on the fact that you can see the boot animation, it tells me that your bootloader is indeed functional, so, once booted into the bootloader, you can easily flash the factory images (as per this) and restore your device to working condition.

Yeah ive tried that, and nothing is working it just keeps going back to that same boot animation & im out of ideas. Iknow there has to be a way though.

What I find strange is that it boots to the boot animation -- that means the bootloader has loaded up the kernel and Android is attempting to start. The bootloader loads up before anything, so it is obviously working. Don't know why you can't access its menu though with the 3-key press. Maybe one of your volumes keys is not working properly? By holding those three keys down, it should not boot to the boot animation...
Can you get into download mode? Hold only volume down and press and hold power. If so, then you can use Odin and flash a stock ROM as per this thread.
In any case, if you can't get into the bootloader or download mode, then your only option is using OMAPFlash (as per this thread). That will re-flash your bootloader. If you still can't get into the bootloader menu after that, then there is a hardware issue.
