Are you using a custom kernel?, if so, try reflashing wifi support zip for that kernel.

If you check, your camera shouldn't be working as well. When you flash a new rom with the Play, you need to use fastboot to flash a compatible kernel to it as well, otherwise the rom won't work.
Read this guide to flash using fastboot: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2054512
The kernel file you want to flash in this case is the "kernel.sin" file extracted from the R800x_4.0.2.E.57_Verizon.ftf. Do:
fastboot flash boot kernel.sin
For other roms, the kernel file is boot.img extract from its zip file.

2.3.6.32 doomkernal. And if I an find a working 2.3.4 ftf fir the r800x every one one tried dint show up in my flashtool there are wifi modules for 2.3.3

I found a wifi fix for the 2.3.4 I just found that doom lord had a kernal and wifi modules thanks though guys

[Q] just rooted and have one serious problem.

i rooted my phone using the guide for the r800x on this site and i'm having one small problem.
i'm running the GB tweaked rom and i can't get wifi to work, i flashed the wifi modules in the thread for the rom and my phone power cycles when i turn on wifi
i thought i may have screwed up, so i restarted and wiped the whole phone and did everything again still having the same problem.
any help would be greatly appreciated.
anyone please, really want to be able to use wifi
so i just "flashed" cola 6 and now turning on wifi just freezes my phone.
if i wasn't on 2.3.3 would that matter.....?
mine won't update to 2.3.3 can i just rename the latest ftf file on here as an update.zip and do it that way?
It probably is for the 2.3.3 rom, and no it won't flash as an update.zip
i can restore to the 2.3.3 roms just fine, but my thinking is if i don't have the radio updates from the 2.3.3 update then of course wifi won't work, or am i wrong....

CM9 installation problems

I'm not a complete noob but I haven't been able to install CM9 on my Play.
I have installed both other ICS ROMs but keep returning to stock with the DoomLord Kernel from my CWM backups.
I would also like to try CM9 but can't get it to boot.
I understand the need to flash a Kernel first and I see the main difference with CM9 is that the boot.img of the kernel is contained within the zip file rather than a separate download.
I'm successfully flashing this kernel (from Flashtool) but then the phone won't boot into CWM to flash the rest of the ROM.
What am I doing wrong?
Press the volume down button rather than the back button to enter recovery
Extract the kernel from the zip archive first
Flash the image
Wipe data/factory reset
Install ROM from SD
Install GAPPS zip (if you want)
Sorted
Flash tool should automatically boot you into recovery for the ROM install when you type "reboot"
Backup first though

Which model of Xperia Play do you have, Christianedward?

Cheers guys it sounds pretty much what I'm doing but I'll try again now FXP 112 is out.
I have a R800i by the way.
Baseband
I was already using Baseband 64 (Build 4.0.2.A.0.62) but the baseband linked to in the CM9 thread is to this "XperiaPlay_3.0.1.E.0.88_R800x.ftf" not what I have downloaded (and installed) "R800i_4.0.2.A.0.62__1253-4437_.ftf".
Maybe this is my problem?
Working now

Its working now with FXP112
I sure I tried this as one of the other ICS ROMs use a Free Xperia Kernal.
I never even got the boot logo but I tried downloading FXP111 twice to make sure it wasn't corupt but all is well now the baseband differences were a red herring.

You can register for free and you get a slightly better response, I could only get 1 download a day.

[Q] Can't flash from .64 to .70 via flashtool. Why?

Good day to all,
i've installed a new ROM (IceLite ICS) on my Xperia Arc.
The ROM is pre-rooted, and via flashtool it seems I have root permission.
The phone has the bootloader unlocked, CWM 5 and the baseband is the stock .64.
But apps which need root (like SetCPU) don't work, and SuperUser never ask for permission. I thought about a baseband compatibility problem with the new ROM, so I've tried to flash .70 baseband, but Flashtool always stuck at "Unplug phone, set off, push and hold menu, plug usb" window.
Any idea of what's wrong with this?
Thanks
Don't know about that Rom but baseband is not connected to superuser.
Also bb64 works fine with ICS.
Use flashtool 0.7.x not earlier for flashing anything ICS related.
Good luck.

[Q] is baseband important when you are moving towards New Custom rom?

any one plz tell me last night i flashed baseband 56 for Blend miui should i change baseband for another Custom Rom?
Using Xperia Arc S
For Gb Roms - Baseband 64 is recommended
For ICS/JB Roms - Baseband 77 is recommended.
Sent from my LT15i using xda app-developers app
No! Baseband is basicly to do with making phone calls mms etc (short explanation) you do not have to change it for every rom unless the Dev recommends a particular baseband or you have communication problems.I have probably changed mine twice in the last year.:good:
Am stuck
i dont Know Y. i was using Baseband 64 earlier tonight. then this dude recomende 56 kernel for his rom. i did.
now am flashing 64,72,77,83 every time its Giving me an error
That's why I have only changedmine twice in a year I would return to stock and start from the beginning :fingers-crossed:
this means av to move back to stock by repairing my phone by PC companion and then Root it again and install custom Rom?

I'm not a expert on basebands I try to stick to same one unless I have major problems.I understand you need to flash the libs zip file with cwm included with basebands and also obviously flash your ftf baseband file. Also use the latest version of flashtool follow this link for basebands you probably been there already but it as the basebands plus lib files Link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1688049 :fingers-crossed:If not do more research maybe return to stock Also read this Link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1382657 Also update a guy in another thread had same problem and used old version of flashtoool Quote " Problem solved with flashtool 0.6.8.0" you could try that version as well.

Issues with Xperia S

Hi Everyone
I unlocked my bootloader a few months ago, rooted, and I flashed a version of ICS, which I think is stock. I dont have receovery installed, I tried to sort that out last night, but I got lost amongst and couldnt work out what to install and how.
Its 4.0.4 - 6.1.A.2.45 - and I am having a few issues with it. It seems to be laggy, the camera freezes when recording video and often crashes and doesn't save the video and the WIFI is just hopeless!
Does anyone know how to fix this? Is there a better .ftp for me to flash? Please leave links if possible because this issue is just driving me insane!
thanks!
Amanda
hi, try to locked your bootloader then repair via pc companion.
and also, for your other question click my signature "Read ME".
If it's unlocked the bootloader then fastboot a custom kernel. Advanced stock is great. Then flash a custom rom. May as I flash a Jellybean rom

I just installed ROM manager and found out clockwork recovery doesn't work for us why does everything have to be so hard with this phone?
Sent from my LT26i using Tapatalk 2
Just have a look at the custom kernels and chose one then fast boot or use the flash tool, cwm works for us

The only problem with this is, you need to flash the doomkernal, which requires flashing back to GB? Then you need to install a host of other apps to get it too work. Just so I can flash a custom rom, wow, nothing is easy is it,
This phone is just so damned hard to do anything with, I am considering going to the new Samsung when it comes out in a few months!
No just flash advanced stock kernel instead from development forum. It's ridiculously easy once you're unlocked and have a cwm kernel flashed
Download a custom rom to the phone (i recommend pac rom)
Download advanced stock kernel to pc. Fastboot using that guide.
Then boot into recovery and install zip from sd and pick pac rom (follow the guidelines in pac rom thread for flashing)
