I ordered one today for testing. Has anyone else tried these out? For $9/US ship, it seems too good to be true.
Also, here's a 1500mAh for $4/free shipping:

I bought the 4$ OEM off eBay and it was worse than my already dying battery. Then paid for a mugen 1800... not that much better

I've read mixed reviews on these bargain batteries. We'll see I guess.
There were three 3500s left when I posted this thread.. now there's 2. Who else bought one?
I plan on running stress tests from full charge. (screen on 100%, gps on, wifi, data, fm radio, and google music streaming)
The best battery I used was 2 evo4g 1900 mah batteries for 7$ on eBay. The battery lasted 2 days with decent use but unfortunately I could not get it to charge with the phone on any rom... even though the polarities looked the same as our batteries.. if only..

Yea the $4 one came in yesterday and after 36 hours I can tell it's not as good as the original oem. It's not horrible and will serve as a decent backup.. but certainly not a DD battery.. no way.
I'm more curious to give the 3500 a spin. Hopefully that arrives today.
Can't wait to hear about the 3.5Ah!
I have a 2.2, I think. Probably could last me three days if I didn't surf and play so much.
Edit -
I should mention that I usually end the day with about 50% left.
Today I'm already at 14% at 6pm because I watched two hour-long videos and did all the other surfing stuff as well.
Curious what you use to test your batteries with.
I run Battery Monitor Widget Pro and always wipe stats for a new battery. Great app for tracking battery performance.

Sorry, I haven't been able to test much. The performance was so crappy the few times I did use it that it hasn't left my shelf ever since. I know I said I was going to do standardized tests but I've been super busy the past few weeks.
As for the anecdote- I charged the 3500 up to 100% and went out for a night on the city at about 2pm. It was dead by 11pm and I was pissed. However, I'm not willing to pass judgement on it yet because I was running PAC at the time which absolutely devoured whatever battery I used.
Now that I'm back on stable CM7 it's a bit different. I'll charge her up tonight and do some comparisons this weekend.
In my experience a battery needs to be exercised a few times before it "matures".

You're probably right. I'll have some more definitive results on Monday.

I bought a cheapo battery for my G1 from my favorite cheapo Chinese stuff website - dealextreme.com.
I think I got an extended battery for my OG Droid there as well, long time ago. They were ok.
I absolutely love big batteries. And paying as little as possible for them.
-MROM on DInc2
So I don't have any definitive results. Overall the 3500 does last longer but not by much. I ran it from 100 to 1 twice over the past week and made sure it received standard use and no charges. I have attached 2 screenshots of the drain plus one with the top culprits for drain. Like many 3rd party batteries it tends to take a nosedive once reaching ~18%. You have maybe 10 minutes left when it hits that mark.
My workplace has horrible signal so cell standby is probably much higher for me than it would be for most. For comparison, my OEM lasts about 14-18 hours without a charge.
Bottom line:
3500 mAh linked above- You can't go wrong for $9. It performs like a ~2500mAh. the case is good quality too.
1500mAh linked above - might come to the range with me next time for target practice. That thing is worthless and is maybe good for 4 hours of standard use. Streaming a 1 hour playlist from Google music used approximately 40% of the battery.
Good to hear.
It's sad that we can't trust the ratings on the batteries, but I am glad it worked as well as it did and that the cover was acceptable, too.
I've read a lot of battery reviews on Amazon and even then it's a tough decision to make. Like you said, for the $9 it's ok.
I'll never buy a $50 battery, but if I did I would certainly expect it to perform to the advertised spec. Sadly, the reviews on those batteries are as mixed as the reviews for the cheapies.

Some interesting information
Bought similar battery a few months ago. On standart battery I has only 10-15% left at evening (music, instant messaging and serfing drains battery wery well), with this enhanced battery my phone lasts 2-3 days. I attached the photo to compare it with default battery.
The main disadvantage of it, suddenly, was the incredibly low signal level (only 1 bar on WCDMA in wooden house, 2-3 bars on GSM), problem was in antenna that is located at the down of back cover. As you can see, two contacts was joined. Just split them, and signal should improve. It helped me, but not too noticeably. So, I have to put copper wire on the back cover and even to prolong it beyond. It looks very ugly, but now signal level is even better than on stock battery (always full signal level on the street even in 3G mode). Low signal level results in higher battery drain and heat.
I don't know why HTC decided to save money on antennas in our phone. Because stock battery cover GSM-antenna is worse than any Nokia (it's much smaller, but in antennas, size matter, a lot). Wi-Fi antenna is bad too.
Also, battery indicator in our phone is not works as it should, I think. 0% is actually not zero level. Real Lithium-Ion battery zero level is 3.2-3.3V (sometimes even smaller, but it's not recommended to to discharge it beyond this level, it may damage battery), but HTC controller tells 0% at 3.5-3.6V and Android forcibly powers off the phone. When I used De-Sensed V firmware, where Android power off function on zero battery level not worked (may be, it was disabled in services.jar, there is the way to do this thing), I could run up to one hour in ICQ on 0% and even some hours in idle mode, before the battery controller blocked battery discharge to protect it (voltage was around 3.2V). It's disappointing that I can't make an urgently call while I actually have the power level enough to do this.
Thank you! Very nice to read your solution for the antenna!

AckerMAN_ can you give more details about your antenna fix?
I see in the photo that the cover has two plastic fingers that are painted with copper colored paint.
My cover has metal fingers attached to it for the connection. They are like springs.
Can you attach a photo of your antenna wire, please?
This phone is famous for poor signal and many others would be interested in a way to improve reception.

I cheaped out and got a 10 dollar Ebay extended battery.
I thought I would report my experience. I cleared battery stats and it's now charging.
Typically during my normal work day by the time I get home the battery has about 10% or less . That's usually about 13 hours off the charger. I typically just surf the net, but I also text, play games and watch videos.
The first thing I noticed was the increase in weight. The extra bulk hasn't bothered me yet. When seeing new phones the slim ones look so much more desirable but with the width of the evo the extra thickness isn't super noticeable when actually using the phone. I'll see how I feels in the pocket. Being shallow it does look about 65% uglier though.
I will take pictures later.

Cool, I want to get this but I heard some things about the phone not able to charge all the way with the 3500. Can you please verify? Also, please go into detail about the usage and your stats have so many hours please!
Interesting I just woke up and got a phone call. Lasted about 2 minutes and then I used the browser to navigate to your post. After reading it checked the charge level and it's at 96% kinda weird for such a massive battery and such little use. So after 3 minutes of use its down 4%
Now I should mention that I haven't brought it down to empty and then recharged it like how the companies want you to. I understand that with nicad and nmhd batteries but I don't get why lion needs that cycle. But I'll report if there is a difference.
i haven't noticed any difference between my old battery and the new 3500. i let it drain down to 10% and then charged. maybe after a couple of days the rom will adjust to new battery.
Alright 7 hours into the day and i have 80% left.
I'm also kinda liking the extra thickness in terms of using it. Feels about the same in the pocket. A little heavier and easier to feel on a "do I have my phone?" Pocket tap.
One odd thing is the sound from the speaker seems to have improved slightly. I think it has to do with the space between the grill and speaker has a gap and it creates a expansion chamber or something I dunno but it seems to be marginally better.
So 12 hours in now and it's at 57% a definite improvement.
Would you mind uploading some pics please? Maybe a link to ebay. There are a couple of different sellers. Thanks

I bought the same battery from the same seller a couple weeks ago. I am still waiting for it to arrive. It does take a long time for it to ship from Hong Kong to US, but after reading this post I think my $8.50 was well worth it. It will probably be here in a couple weeks with Christmas slowing the shipping process down and all, but I am eagerly awaiting my purchase.
I bought one a few weeks ago. It does add bulk and a lot of weight however, in my experience it is much more comfortable to hold the phone now. The biggest surprise has been with the new battery case, I can now set my phone down without having the speaker muffled since it is about 1/4" off the surface while streaming tv. I have heard different ideas to break in the phone like full discharge 3 times and others say not to fully discharge it. I would recommend that after your initial charge, turn the phone off and charge it another hour. Personally, I can stream about 5-6 hours of TV (with full screen brightness) at work before needing to recharge.
Any comments like "I took the phone off the charger and it's at 95%" is working as intended. Most phone with Li-on batteries do a cycle charge when they get to 100%. They will stop charge at 100% off charge to 90%, back to 100%, then 90% and so on. This is done because Li-on batteries are dangerous at when under a constant charge. If temperature get too high they can degrade the internal membrane causing fire and explosion from released hydrogen gas.. If you want to leave the house with 100% just unplug and reconnect your phone about 10 mins before leaving.
I got a 3500,not dure if its the same u have. Didnt look at the link
But I got it for emergency. Power goes out... Long trip etc.

Hey guys, unfortunately I didn't see this post before buying a seidio 3500 and custom case. I just wanted to tell all of you some helpful hints.
1. Condition the battery- run all the way out till phone shuts off (if you go out, keep your original battery and door with you as a backup). Do this about 3 times
2. When charging the light on the Evo turns green after the battery reaches 1500 (the size of the original battery). You need to charge the battery about 3 hours past that to get the full potential of your extended batt. I charge mine over night and I get about a day and a half out of mine!!!
3. It's best to condition the battery about once a month to increase battery life. They say that these batteries don't retain a memory and I believe this to be true, but over my years of experience, it helps to condition very once in a while.
Hope this helps and good luck. Reply back if you get a chance, as I will subscribe to the thread, and let me know if this info helps.
Peace!

Just ordered one of these puppies: http://cgi.ebay.com/Yoobao-Samsung-..._Batteries&hash=item1e61362f01#ht_1002wt_1139
Thought I'd give it a short review Anyway, I recently got a cheap vibrant that has a semi-borked cellular radio. I decided to use it strictly as a music player (the Galaxy S's audio chip is among the best)
With the stock battery, ZenDroid 1.3.4 + Bali UV Kernel 1.8.6 + KA7 modem, i was losing about 0.7% per hour idling (all wireless radios disabled). Playing music, it drained closer to 3-4% per hour
I got the battery yesterday and did a full drain + full recharge to condition the battery. It has been on for 13 hours now, with music playing for 4 hours continuously and it is only down to 90%. HUGE improvement!! With additional drain/recharge cycles (seller said it takes around 3 to reach optimal performance), I'm sure it will be even better.
Physically, this battery isn't much heavier than the stock battery. Although the included battery hood sticks out a bit, it fits very comfortably in my hand. When I hold it, my index finger rests on the angled part of the door. For anyone that is worried about the extended battery making the phone alot bulkier, rest assured it doesn't change it too much
Nice I might have to look into one now
Vibrant
Rom: Project-V
Kernel: Bali 1.8.6UV or tigers blood 3.22 UV -75 all around.
depends on how i feel
I have been shopping around for an extended battery and this is half the price of the momax battery. But the momax battery has a stand and a glossy cover, so im still undecided.
So these results were from no wireless and no cellular connections? Were you still receiving background sync data?

Not better than stock
I bought this battery from amazon. Am running Project-v and Bali 1.87UV. Was hoping for 2x stock battery life and did a full charge, recalibration, and drained it twice. But this battery does not work better than the stock one. The label said it was a 3500Mah, but Amazon advertized it as 2800. That discrepancy alone tells me to suspect the contents. I honestly doubt there is much more in there than a 1400.
Save your money and get something else.
I looked at several of these extended life batteries and I bought the Momax. Though it is more expensive I have been really happy with it. I can now use my phone for everything (voice, audio, video and data) and not worry about conserving battery to get through the day.
I was down to 45% the other day after using it 18 hours without plugging in and I had it displaying the clock for 4 hours straight while also checking Tweetdeck and answering emails during that time. I had GPS on even though I wasn't using it. I played music for about an hour straight too. Before I couldn't have played the music without almost draining it to that level.
I am completely ok with the extra weight knowing I now can enjoy my phone for the first time. I use it all of the time now. Before I was scared to bring the screen up for too long on days that I could not be near a charger. I like the kickstand on the Momax too. I bought the white one and my only regret is that I think I would have liked the black better. But I may get another one and give the white cover to my wife.
What's the verdict on it so far, OP?
I'd love to hear the verdict as well. Always nice to get extra battery life, but only if its worth the excess bulk.
I almost buy it,btw it's worth ?

I just bought a generic 3500MAH battery for the Vibrant off Amazon for $15. No regrets so far.
You can get the Momax 1700mah battery for $17 from ioomobile or $19 from ebay. Both with free shipping
I use an original vibrant battery in my i9000 too so the momax will fit the vibrant/i9003.
Please, tell me how are your results. I want to have a battery with more capacity but using the same back case.
Just waiting on its arrival now. I looked into other brands, but kept finding massive amounts of negative reviews, like the Momax battery.
Like from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=478270
I actually had the Touch HD version, which worked perfectly fine for me Which was why I had no issue buying it for the i9000. I have been getting around 40 hours from light/minimal usage on the MIUI.us rom. I am getting around 30-35 hours on the standard i9000 and vibrant batteries.
I also bought one of the cheap 3000mah ebay batteries but didn't have any luck with that. I was getting around 45-50 hours but after a few recharges it dropped to less than the original battery.
I firmly believe in "you get what you pay for" however I have to say I have not had any problems with the momax battery so far, touch wood.
Was it delivered? My battery is worse every day even with Bi-Winning v3 with Bullet kernel. It dies too quick! Using WCDMA with HSDPA is the same as seeing my battery % going down realtime.

There are a couple things you can do to stretch battery life without too much compromise.
First, go with a black background. There's a free app on the market that's easy to miss. Do a search for blackwallpaper, all one word. AMOLED screens love darker colors when it comes to battery usage.
Second, get a 2g/3g toggle and switch to 2g when you don't need data and are primarily just texting or playing games.
Pick up the Bali-X kernel. Lots of battery saving goodies in there. Afterward, pick up SetCPU and reduce the voltages as far as you can without getting crashes or "sleep of death" issues.
Now, even when gaming, my battery isn't too stressed, and when I left it off the charger overnight, after 9hrs it had burned through a miserly 4% battery.
Finally, get a retractable usb data/charging cable. Can be had for a penny plus a couple bucks shipping. Retractable means easily pocketable, so whenever it occurs to you, break it out and connect your phone into whatever PS3, TV, Computer, or Laptop is available that has a USB slot.
The battery hasn't arrived yet. Supposedly takes as much as two weeks. I'm waiting with baited breath!
Woohoo! The battery has arrived and is on the charger as I type. Will have photos and whatnot after I've gone through the initial charging and discharging.
What I can say for certain is that the I-9003 battery fits perfectly into a standard Samsung Vibrant. No issues whatsoever.
Thanks, dude, for your info! I would be going to the shop to get one if you review it positively. I think I will have the "Purchase" button under the mouse arrow!

Funny quote from the second review, "These third party batteries come in two flavors – one without an extended back cover and another one with a back cover, which usually adds a couple of inches thickness to the phone."
Could you imagine if it was a couple of INCHES of thickness? It'd be almost as thick as it is wide
Doing a battery drain test now. Had my phone's screen on nonstop for 2hr30min, and the battery is down to 84% (though probably slightly inaccurate still). Will see how it fairs after I've charged and discharged it a few times. No, not from 100% to 0%. From 100% to 20%. Don't want to kill my battery.
Day 2, barely used my phone today, and it's at 84% with 18hrs of time away from the charger. Screen on time of only 16 minutes. The battery is definitely lasting longer, so I think I can safely say that this is a legitimate 1700mah battery. The real test will be how well it works after a few weeks, though I have high hopes.
I've just ordered mine! It won't ship until august, the 8th.
How is it going with your battery? Doest it last noticeably more?

Added link to the battery and website. I feel like the 1700mah is a little conservative on their part. It feels like I'm getting more battery than the rated 200mah difference would allow. Anyway, loving the purchase, and no issues so far. Will keep everyone posted if it suddenly bursts into flames, or bakes me a pie.

Look up gtmax 1780mah xperia play battery on amazon. I'd post the link if I could.
Best deal on an extended battery. Significant increase in battery life, fits with the stock battery cover, and its only $5. It's what I have.
I know you don't want to hear about Mugen Power...
But I will tell you anyway that I have a Mugen Power battery and it gives my phone a full 20 hours of battery life. This is 20 hours of playstation emulation, web browsing, GPS and other forms of very intense use.
This battery is worth every single dollar I spent on it. I makes the phone and consequently me 100% independent of car chargers, wall chargers and other such obstructions.
It is very liberating to know that when I walk out that door in the morning, I can depend on this phone for the entire day. Give the mugen power another look.
I purchased this 2600mah battery from batterybay.net and I simply love it. It works so much better the nthe 1950mah battery I got from Ebay earlier this month. I get a day and half on this thing. And I am a heavy user, lots of gaming and internet usage. This thing was $17 with free shipping, but be warned it took mine 3 weeks to get to me. Either way I totally love this battery. I have not had to charge my phone during the day in weeks, I charge it when I got to bed of course. But Ih ave never had the battery less that 60% at the end of the day.
http://www.batterybay.net/Extended-...n-Xperia-Play-p/sony ericsson -cs-er800bl.htm
but youre still missing the point that he wanted a battery without an extra back cover.
I really don't get some of these requests? A lot of people seem to want a battery that's superior to the stock one, but don't want any extra size, any extra weight and want it very very cheap. If this battery existed, don't you think Sony would have put it in the phone already? Why not contact Sony about your battery concerns? I'm not trying to be rude at all, but until battery technology proceeds further, we have to do what we can with what we have. The big Mugen battery (which I have and use) adds about 6 millimeters in thickness and an ounce or two in weight. My old Nokia 6620 was bigger than this bone stock!! The Mugen was bigger at first for sure but now I don't even notice at all. The massive increase in battery life was more than worth it. Until technology grows, you can't have a battery that's thin, small, light, has a huge capacity and is super cheap. Even with a slightly bigger battery, these phones are still smaller than what we were using just a little while ago.
Cheers for all your feedback, i guess these batteries on ebay are to good to be true. I just thought with technology moving on at such a rate and the 2300mah claims there making these might be a new improved type of slim battery and the purpose of this thread was to see what experiences people who have USED these batteries have had, good, bad or ugly. Its not really for people to guess how they perform and type stuff like you only get what u pay for blah blah... I can guess myself, i wanted some hands on info. I already own a big replacement battery which works great but turns my sleek xperia play into something from the 1990s! Not being rude just trying to get this back on track. Ill try one of these slim 2300mah batteries myself soon im just skint at the moment so i was doing some research first. Ive read a few threads before creating this and it does seem theres alot of people with opinions on these cheap batteries but i dont hear much from people who have actually used them.

I purchased this battery here:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/1950mAh-BST...426669?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item5adfc723ed
And it seemed t owork very well for a few days but after that my phone was glitching out constantly. Games were slow and would stutter. I later found out that the battery's output was not consistent. Thus causing issues with the phones performance. I then found the site I bought my current battery from and even though its a beast the increase in battery is totally worth it. I had to give up my otterbox case for this battery and i have qualms with that. ITs too bad you cant get a battery with extra umph in it and keep the same size. IF you do find something liek that remember that the battery will be hotter then normal and the heat will decrease the life of the battery and the length of time it can hold a charge for.
Nice info. That was one of the batteries i was looking at too... Cheers for that

Does the thicker battery case help with gripping the phone while playing? I don't have any problems holding it, but having that extra grip can't hurt.
To be honest I was afraid of the thickbess of the phone with the new battery cover. But I have found that the thickness does not bother me and when I slide open the controlls to play a game the phone due to the added thickness is a lot more comfortable and I have been able to play for longer periods of time then I could have prior to getting this battery.

Well there is of coarse the posibility of using nuclear power fushion for the battery cells i estimate the eqashion of +2#2.0-#+100=0.11111.000 should be enough power to last one light year of battery use. Oh and no extended back cover will be needed. And i recommend that you do not use your phone to the ear for long periods the sars levels might be slightly high due to the power source.Oh sorry i forgot to mention you need to wear a radiation suit at all times when using the phone and last ov all you must have a 3 mile radius evacuation in place when making a phone call (So there will be no one around to make local calls to i guess). That's about it i think hope i never missed anything out and i hope i was of some help.
I got this
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/180720751...NX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649#ht_2728wt_752
And i gotta say it lasts for ages, overclocked to 2ghz and it lasts longer then stock battery at stock clocks, and the back feels nice
glad i got this instead of mugen, lasts for 2 1/2 days everything on etc light gaming/browsing whereas battery would be about 3/4 day

Just picked up one of these as well. I'll post feedback once it gets here. Have you had any problems at all with yours?
Nope, and that in a way is the problem for me, i'm constantly expecting something bad to happen but it hasn't and the battery lasts for ages.
Just ordered the exact same one but from the german Ebay site.
Will arrive in 8-13 days.. Will give feedback

Could you try the Otterbox without the battery cover and tell me if it would fit the thicker battery? Perhaps with the rubbery skin cut under the black shell? I can't because I filed off the clips that attach elsewhere. I basically want to buy a second stock battery door and cut a rectangle in it and, if needed, the rubber for the extended battery to extend into the Otterbox Commuter. I wouldn't want to go without the battery door entirely because it wouldn't route the audio correctly and there is also a gap between the camera and flash which water and other contaminates can freely enter.

So I got the battery about 4 days ago and it's great so far! The added thickness is actually quite awesome. Anyone looking to get some great battery life for cheap should pick up one of these bad boys! If you're all about aesthetic and how your phone LOOKS, well that just shouldn't matter haha.

Have gotten the same one a week ago.. and i dunno if it's just me, but the battery feels like my 2600 mAh right now ._.
Maybe it's just the starting affinity..
Hey guys just a quick simple question, which of these two brands is more reputable and offers higher quality batteries?
http://www.amazon.com/Hyperion-GT-i...843965&sr=8-2&keywords=i9250+extended+battery
http://www.amazon.com/Onite-Extende...843965&sr=8-1&keywords=i9250+extended+battery
Both have good ratings on amazon but I was wondering about guys who actually have these batteries. Is the larger hyperion better than the NFC equipped Onite? FYI I never really use NFC so it is not a factor here. I just want to get the better quality, longer lasting battery.

I don't have the Hyperion battery, I instead have once from QCell and the Onite (3500) you linked. I got them since October/Septmeber 2013 and both of them blow the stock (1700) battery away. But my QCell battery seems to last a little bit longer (and I think its a slightly larger capacity battery) but the battery seems to discharge at a weird rate. It rapidly discharges and then it gains back a couple of %. As a result, the battery graph looks very spiky jittery mess. But it still works fine but it may randomly shut down at the 5-10% mark.
Right now, I use the Onite as a daily driver for those reason alone as it doesn't derp like the Qcell does. It definitely falls under the category of not bad. But be warned batteries of this size will make your phone huge, bulky and heavy haha. Picking up a Nexus 5 will make you think its a feather light after using huge batteries on the GNex.
Wifi use at home easily gets me 5-6 hour screen on time with a little more than 2d uptime. The days where I go out the entire day, it would last about 4 hours +/- screen on time (I run at way higher brightness when I'm not at home), BT on when in the car streaming audio for 1 hour, average signal and about 15+ hours uptime because I replug in when I sleep with usually 10-30% to spare. In short, I never run out of battery less than a day of usage. Almost double the battery life of stock battery. With Trinity kernel, you easily gain an extra half an hour of SOT on this battery.
GTA SA though kills the Onite battery flat in 2h 30m of continuos gaming with thermal throttle disabled (Trinity kernel) at 20%+ brightness

I would go for the Onite, for sure. Even if I don't really like to use not original battery. I think it's unsafe for the smartphone itself.

Thanks for that really in depth response, I appreciate it. I will definitely buy the Onite battery. Thank you again.
I bought the Hyperion 2 days ago and here are some screen shots of my usage yesterday, I think I could do better with some modifications...
Cheers from Tx
