"You should chose baseband .64 (newer may cause wifi problems)"
I have a .562 stock kernel. And my question is: Can I install on .562 or should flash .62 first?
Thanks.

Flash whatever ROM it says to first and then flash the baseband after. And learn to read instructions properly.

First of all I apologize for the noob question but I spent more than 24h reading this forum and I wasn't be able to find a clear answer to my question.
I come from other devices (HTC and Samsung). All of them was unrouted and fixed up the bootloader, simply by myself...
Yesterday I went crazy and I bought a new ArcS (LT18s)...
Good price, good quality, why not!
Actually my ArcS is:
system Root using DooMLoRD - Easy Rooting Toolkit
unlocked the bootloader using the follow procedure http://unlockbootloader.sonyericsson.com/instructions
recovered after a OTA upgrade (Yes I'm an idiot, don't say a word)
i need to know if:
With a ROM (ex DooMLoRD - ICS Alpha or a doomed151 - Arconium) is included the Kernel or not?
and:
What kind of system i must follow to upgrade?
Thanks a lot
Perhaps I solved. Like a noob I haven't read this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1330314 is correct also if the device is LT15???
Better flash a LT18 firmware.
And for Arconium ROM DooMKernel is recommended.

Thank you. This was my idea but I preferred to ask questions!
But...
I want to install this kernel:
[KERNEL][ARC/ARC S] Advanced Stock (with Recovery) [Rel:v01][Dt:1/JAN][FW:.42/58/62]
and under
[ requirements ]
stock SE 4.0.2.A.0.42/.58/.62 FW
This is the reason of my initial question:
Kitchen or The Egg
'Cos I've 4.0.1.A.0.266 build

"Requirements" don't mean you must preflash .42/.58/.62

Ok, i go to install this kernel
Thnks a lot!
So the new ICS .ftf is out now.
What I want to know is the next:
After flashing ICS 4.0.4, can I still go back to Gingerbread with the respective .ftf file and Flashtool? Or once updated, it can't go back?
Also, would I be able to use Custom ROMs like CM 7.2 or CM 9 while on ICS?
Thanks in advance.
up up up up up up up
You can go back but you may have issues, if say you had gb2.3.4 build .42 THEN YOU WiLL NEED TO FLASH .62 THEN GO BACK TO .42.
I don't recommend going from ics 4.0.3/4.0.4 then 2.3.4 .42 without .62.
As all cases the risk is there.

I had build .58, but in any case, I can tell that as well I would have to go to .62 then to .58.
At least there is a way.
Anyways, I'm really ok with custom ROMs and Kernels, I haven't seen any reason why to move to ICS, just wanted to know.

I have read that you also need an older version of flashtools as v8.xxxxx no longer supports gb, I cant confirm this but it may be something to remember if ever you went back.

Hello world,
I want to install this custom rom (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1836993)
The problem is that i'm running the official 2.4.3 android version from sony. They still haven't released the update to ICS for my country
My bootloader is locked and i'm unable to unlock it without paying (Bootloader unlock allowed: No)
Is it possible that i install any custom kernels? Or can i maunally update to ICS, and get the stock ICS kernel? I would install the custom rom with the stock ICS kernel.
I would be thankful if you send me a link for downloading the official ICS and its kernel.
My phone is the Xperia Arc S (LT18i)
Thanks!
No unlocked bootloader, no custom kernel.

Yes, if it is fully stock and officially signed kernel.
That is - you can only flash that kernel via Flashtool .FTF file.
No other way.

No - ICS on the 2011 Xperia line-up is worthless and not worth it.

If you do want to give ICS a try, flash tool is the first link. The second link is ftf file for LT18i. (The kernel is embedded in to the ftf file). Flash tool is very simple and walks you through the steps.

You can't flash a ftf file in cwm, but there are flashable stock roms available like this - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2425192

Use Flashtool. It's the best and safest way. Dont flash a ROM, through CWM.
That's Right!!

Flash stock .96 FW via flashtools....
Flash recovery by doomlord or doomkernel for either locked Bl or unlocked depending upon your bootloader..This way you'll retain .96 FW and CWM..via CWM fix root permissions...and you get what you wanted...

I have returned to stock rom(.58 enhanced v3)+debloat+root twice but after some use still can't resist myself from trying other convincing ICS roms. But now i wanted to return to stock rom again but i have hard time choosing which firmware is best. .79, or .62 or .58 enhanced v(1/2/3) or other firmwares ?? I think the firmwares have different performances and battery lifes. Also which kernel supports stock rom??

If you want to use kernel with 640MB data partition, you must first flash. 62 or. 79 firmware, flash lupus gb v12 kernel then flash stock-based rom from recovery.
If you are ok with 380MB data partition (stock) you can use doomlord gb kernel (flash ANY firmware, then flash kernel)
If you think that you will get better network coverage, you can flash any baseband (flash only baseband, untick all other checkboxes In flashtool)
It doesn't really matter which firmware you use, generally latest Is better.
